5: Separating them

"STOP IT! Stop!" Charlotte rushed to separate the two men. Although she was weak and no match for either of their strengths, Jack obeyed Charlotte's command, but he had beaten his younger brother to a stupor, not caring that he was in Teddy's house and that Teddy was the ruling Alpha of the Norfield pack.

"Charlotte..." Jack reached out to touch her, but Charlotte moved away from him and rushed to Teddy.

"Are you alright?" Charlotte asked Teddy, as she crouched in front of him, but Teddy moved his hands away from her touch.

Anne quickly rushed to help Teddy stand up. The speed with which Jack had attacked Teddy shocked both Anne and Charlotte. It was as if Jack had disappeared from where he was standing and, in the next moment, he was in front of Teddy, attacking him and not giving Teddy a chance to retaliate.

Charlotte saw how Teddy pushed her hands away when she tried to help him up, but he accepted Anne's help. However, as Teddy stood up, staggering from both the beating and the alcohol he had consumed, he glared at his elder brother and barked, "Get out of my house! You're not welcome here anymore. You arrive at my home, and the best you can do is kiss my wife and attack me!"

Teddy moved his hands away from Anne as well and told all of them, "Get out! I don't want to see any of you here, except Charlotte. Leave!"

Jack wiped his lips, not having expected the events to turn out this way. He had arrived home not too long ago, as the flight from the human city to their werewolf land had taken several hours.

He had come home wanting to see his only brother, who was now ruling the pack in his absence.

Jack hadn't intended to fight with Teddy; he came to greet his brother and his wife. Now, he had kissed his brother's wife and fought with Teddy as well. His wolf had pushed him to attack his brother because he saw how hurt Charlotte looked.

Before Jack could speak, Anne said, "Babe, are you sending me away too?"

Jack was stunned to hear Anne refer to Teddy as "babe." Teddy didn't reply to Anne; instead, he went back into the room he had just come out of.

Anne looked back at Charlotte angrily. She didn't want to leave the mansion at such a late hour. There were rogue attacks at midnight, and Anne, being a Beta, was not strong enough to face the rogues alone.

She glared at Charlotte and spat, "You see what you have caused? You shameless woman."

Anne quickly looked away from Jack, who glared at her for insulting Charlotte, who was still standing there speechless.

Charlotte didn't reply to Anne, and Anne went downstairs to ask the maids to show her to the guest room, as she couldn't leave the house at that time. Besides, she was Teddy's mate, and he wouldn't just send her away.

After Anne left the top floor, Charlotte was left alone with Jack, and she didn't want to look at her brother-in-law's face.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean for any of that to happen," Jack apologized, as he tried to move closer to Charlotte and apologize to her.

Charlotte knew Jack was her mate, but he had not been around for years. He had grown more handsome, charming, and masculine. He was also stronger than Teddy, who was the most feared Alpha in their pack.

"It's okay. You don't have to apologize; it's not your fault. If I hadn't switched off the light, then we wouldn't have kissed each other, so I'm to blame too," Charlotte said, looking down, not wanting to meet Jack's gaze.

Jack licked his lips again. He wasn't satisfied with the kiss, as Charlotte's lips had tasted so soft and sweet in his mouth. He wanted more, but now he couldn't take her with him, as she was still married to his younger brother.

Jack had so much to say to Charlotte, but he had just returned home and couldn't say it all now.

"It's alright. It's already late, and I have to allow you two to sort things out. It's been a long time since I left this pack, and I don't know what has been going on or what has changed in my absence. But now that I'm back home, I hope I will be able to assist in the best way I can. If you need my help, feel free to reach out to me, okay?" Jack said as he moved closer to touch Charlotte again, but she moved away from him.

"Okay, I will keep that in mind. It's already very late now. Why not go downstairs and stay in the guest room until tomorrow morning? Then you can return home," Charlotte said, still avoiding Jack's gaze.

"Okay, that sounds nice, but you heard my brother dismiss me. He said I'm not welcome here, and it's only right that I obey his command first, since he's the Alpha of our pack. I have to head home now. It's fine, I can protect myself, but I will be here tomorrow to apologize to him again. Take care of yourself," Jack said, turning to leave. Charlotte finally looked up at him.

She wanted to chase after him, to go with him and leave Teddy. But Teddy was still the Alpha of the pack, and disobeying him would mean punishment in front of their pack members, and she didn't want that.

Also, Charlotte had cheated on Teddy by kissing his brother, not a total stranger. Charlotte was sure Teddy would kill her, but she couldn't just leave the mansion and return to her father's house. It was late—already 12:45 a.m.—so Charlotte sighed and walked back to the master bedroom that Teddy had entered.

Charlotte took a deep breath as she stood in front of the door. She knocked and finally unlocked the door, entering the room to meet her husband.

Teddy was standing there in the room, by the window, boiling with rage as he remembered how Jack had attacked him.

Jack was fast, his movements precise, and he had always been very good at combat before he left the Norfield pack.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to kiss your elder brother," Charlotte apologized, as she stood motionless in the bedroom, just beside the door, while Teddy gazed out the window and watched Jack leave the mansion.

"Hmm..." Teddy's anger boiled. Not only did he detest Jack, he didn't like Charlotte either, but seeing the way Jack and Charlotte had kissed so intensely, Teddy knew that Jack hadn't lied when he said he didn't know it was Charlotte and that he perceived her as his real mate.

"Tell me, did you perceive him as your mate? Is Jack Hudson, my elder brother, your real mate?" Teddy demanded, as he turned to look at Charlotte.

Charlotte looked hurt; the recent flogging she had received from Teddy downstairs was still partially visible on her body.

Charlotte wore a pink dress that was revealing. Her bréasts, which were bigger than Anne's, were visible, and her hips, which were curvy, were on full display in the semi-nude pink nightdress she wore.

Teddy's green eyes moved to assess Charlotte from her chest down to her sexy waist and back to her face again. For the first time in their four years of marriage, he was aroused by looking at this pretty young woman.
