"I’m sorry to keep you waiting." The door behind me suddenly opened.

Zephyr entered the meeting room, brushing his hair back as he walked in with Reece. His expression was cold and nonchalant, as usual.

However, the moment I turned my head toward him, his demeanor shifted, and he offered me a warm smile.

The sudden change startled everyone in the room, except me.

"Don’t worry about it, Mr. Lloyd." Diego stood up to greet him. "I know how hard it must be for you to make time in your busy schedule."

I tilted my head in confusion. Diego’s words implicitly suggested that he had been the one to ask Zephyr for this meeting.

But about what?

The uncertainty somehow made me feel uneasy.

Reece and Zephyr then sat across from me. The atmosphere was too heavy, so I couldn’t help but ask, "What’s this about?"

Diego leaned forward. "Samantha, you have no idea how thrilled I am to have chosen you as the main actress for my project," he began, "But we need to address an issue, your reputation in the media isn’t in the best place right now."

I knew they would eventually bring this up. I sighed. "This is about my ex-husband, isn’t it?"

Diego and the others looked at me in surprise. They hadn’t known I was divorced. As far as they were aware, my marriage was simply in trouble, but they hadn’t realized it had already ended.

But it was only natural for them to think that way since I hadn’t publicly addressed the matter.

I suspected that if Zephyr hadn’t assured them the issue wouldn’t affect my future career, they might not have taken the risk of choosing me.

My bad reputation could harm the film’s success. If the controversy continued to circulate in public, the movie might suffer a downfall as audiences might avoid seeing my face on the big screen.

Reece stepped in to address the situation. "Yes, Mrs. Cole, this is about Mr. Fell’s tarnished image in the media," he said, glancing at the others in the room. He then emphasized firmly, "To be clear, Mrs. Cole has no involvement whatsoever in her ex-husband’s current scandal."

Reece gave a brief but clear explanation of my past with Rowan to others. As the details unfolded, everyone was in shock, with jaws dropping and eyes widening in disbelief.

"Dear lord, Samantha, I’m so sorry. I had no idea," Diego said, his voice filled with genuine regret.

I offered a faint smile. "It’s alright, Mr. West. I haven’t exactly been open about it. It’s in the past now, and I’m trying to move forward."

Diego glanced around at the others, his expression still stunned. "But with the movie’s theme mirroring ... that part of your life, I can’t imagine how hard it must be for you to take this on."

I took a deep breath. "Yes, it’s not easy. But the important part about acting is telling stories, even the hard ones. Besides, I think this role might help me turn my pain into something meaningful."

"Honestly, I was hesitant to cast you in this role," Matthew admitted. "But after learning the truth, I became even more convinced that you’re the perfect choice to play Elara in this film."

Zephyr, who had remained silent until now, finally spoke. "Like you, Mr. White, I believe many people will support her once they know the truth." He turned his gaze directly to me. "That’s why I want to hold a press conference to clear your name and distance you from your ex-husband’s scandals."

Reece nodded. "We can also use that chance to promote her comeback movie." He asked, "What do you think, Mrs. Cole?"

I nervously pinched my fingers, my nails pressing into my skin as anxiety bubbled within me. The thought of facing a room full of reporters and journalists felt overwhelming.

I didn’t feel ready to confront so many people so soon, but it seemed like I had no other choice.

The fate of the movie was now in my hands. If my reputation continued to deteriorate, the producers might decide to cut me from the project to protect public sentiment.

Especially since Rowan was the public enemy number one right now.

"What do you think, Samantha?" Zephyr repeated Reece’s question. "Do you want to do that?"

I nodded immediately. "I want to."

"That’s settled, then." Reece suggested, "Since the movie hasn’t entered production yet, I recommend holding the press conference as soon as possible."

"Let’s do it tomorrow," I said suddenly.

My words shocked everyone, especially Zephyr. "Don’t you think it’s too fast? You might need time to prepare yourself."

"No," I replied. "Like Mr. Lawson said, the faster we solve this problem, the better." I continued, "Besides, if the public’s reaction isn’t good toward me, then you can cut me from this project, so it won’t affect the success of the film."

I could have been selfish and fought to keep my position. However, when I remembered the hard work of little Tiana, I couldn’t bring myself to put that little girl in the middle of a chaotic situation.

Just by acting alongside her for a short time, I could already tell that Tiana was a talented actress. That was why I wanted her to receive recognition from a lot of people.

If The Shattered Bond received too much criticism, then all our hard work would go to waste, and I didn’t want that to happen.

Zephyr could see that I had made up my mind, so he didn’t want to argue.

"If you think that’s the best way, then I’ll support it." Zephyr said to Reece. "Please, prepare for the press conference, Mr. Lawson."

Reece nodded. "I’ll do my best, Mr. Lloyd, Mrs. Cole."

As the meeting ended, I left the room with Zephyr. The hallways seemed quieter than usual as we walked together, our footsteps echoing in the empty corridor.

"Are you sure about this?" Zephyr asked, his voice softer now. As the CEO of the company, he wanted me to hold the press conference immediately, but as my mate, he didn’t want me to suffer.

I took a deep breath and nodded. "I have to do this. I can’t let my past ruin the future we’re trying to build here."

Zephyr smiled faintly, giving me a reassuring pat on the back. "I know people can’t hate you, Samantha."

I looked up at him. "I hope so.”

In one swift motion, Zephyr closed the distance between us. His lips crashed against mine—hot, desperate, and passionate. There was nothing hesitant about it, nothing restrained. I gasped against his mouth, my fingers gripping the front of his shirt, holding on like he was the only thing keeping me grounded. But the truth was, I felt like I was falling. Zephyr wasn’t just kissing me—he was claiming me, pouring weeks of unspoken desire, frustration, and longing into every touch. And me? I kissed him back just as fiercely. Because this wasn’t about duty or fate. This was about wanting each other. No more hesitating. No more holding back. Zephyr lifted me effortlessly, settling me onto his lap as his hands slipped beneath the fabric of my dress. His touch was cold against my skin, sending a shiver down my spine. His fingers traced my spine, then slowly slipped through my brassiere, unhooking it with a single, effortless motion. As the fabric loosened, his hands moved to my breas

If that was the truth, didn’t that mean Zephyr was also going crazy because of our bond? "Zephyr, actually... I have these weird feelings about our relationship," I admitted, deciding to be honest. "The more you avoid me, the more uncomfortable I feel—even though I don’t understand why." No matter how much we tried to adapt to the modern world, we couldn’t escape what we were. Werewolves’ relationships weren’t like humans. Suppressing our instincts—desire, possessiveness, the pull of our bond—was unnatural. We couldn’t expect to have a real relationship without having sex or intimacy—because, at our core, we were still creatures of instinct. If we kept acting like business partners instead of true mates, all we would gain was frustration. Two months might not seem like much now, but what about a year? Two years? The feelings we kept shoving aside wouldn’t just disappear. We would bottle them up until eventually, something inside us snapped. And when an Alpha lost control, the

"I dare you to look into my eyes without reacting for one minute." That was easy. Or at least, that’s what I thought. Holding his gaze for a single minute couldn’t be that hard, right? But the moment my eyes met his, I felt like the air had been knocked from my lungs. His gray eyes weren’t just gray—they were deep, stormy, and intense, pulling me into his charm. My heartbeat quickened, my chest tightened, and a strange warmth spread through my entire body. I suddenly felt lightheaded, dizzy even, as if I were standing too close to the edge of something unknown, something dangerous. Something that felt a lot like falling. It felt like I was falling in love with him. But why? Why was I feeling this way? Maybe it was just the effect of our bond. I had heard that newly bonded fated mates often acted like honeymooners—completely attached to each other, unwilling to be apart. But I had never felt anything when Zephyr was away at work. Right? ... Had I? The truth

Zephyr and I sat side by side on the couch, the warm glow of the fireplace casting soft shadows across the room. The fire crackled gently, the only sound breaking the silence between us. "You know, this place would be better if you had a TV," I said, finally speaking up. Zephyr let out a small sigh. "Yeah, I know. But since no one really comes here often, no one ever bothered to install one." I hummed in understanding, wrapping my hands around the warm cup of hot chocolate. "I guess I can’t blame you. Honestly, this place feels cozier without the noise of a TV." Still, the silence between us felt ... awkward. Now that I thought about it, this was probably the first time Zephyr and I were truly alone—well, aside from that one night. Most of the time, we saw each other at the office or at home, where there were always other people around. I had never really noticed how rare it was for us to have a moment like this. Not that I minded being around others, but it made me real

I fell silent for a moment but Zephyr continued anyway. "Ashley still wanted to eat meat, even if she hated vegetables. But you... you don’t have much of a choice here. If I force you to eat, you’ll hate your food even more, and I know that won’t end well." I remained silent till he was done but then I finally asked, "How... do you know so much about me?" I had always been careful when it came to starving myself at home. I would play with Ashley or chat with others at the table, making sure no one noticed how little I ate. After everyone finished eating, I would immediately take my plate to the kitchen myself, throw away the food, and then place the empty plate in the sink. If someone handed me food directly, I would eat it—but afterward, I would go out and pretend I had already eaten elsewhere, so I could skip having lunch or dinner at home. No one ever seemed to notice because people had seen me eat the desserts Ashley made or heard me mention having a meal outside. So how di

I couldn’t stop smiling when I saw the stars in the sky. The waiters gradually filled our table with a variety of delicious food and fine wine. Under the table, I tapped my fingers, hesitating for a moment, wondering whether I should eat or not. Zephyr had ordered all these expensive dishes for me, so it would definitely seem rude if I didn’t touch my food at all. But I had already eaten a granola bar for dinner, and I didn’t want to overfill my stomach late at night. "Do you not like the food?" Zephyr asked when he noticed that I had barely touched my meal. I quickly came up with an excuse. "No, it’s not that. I already ate at the studio, so I’m not that hungry right now." Zephyr didn’t say anything for a moment, which made me feel relieved—at least I wouldn’t have to feel guilty about not eating. However, just as I was about to take a sip of wine, Zephyr dropped a bombshell. "But Ms. Chloe said you didn’t eat at the studio." My hand froze mid-air, and I held my breath. I hadn
