When we arrived at the hospital, he didn’t make a fuss like yesterday. In fact, he climbed up the bed and sat beside Theo, who was deeply asleep.

“How did he get injured?” Dave asked, staring at his arm. “Is he gonna be okay?”

I sat in the chair across from him. “He’s gonna be fine. I was trapped inside the bathroom, and he had to break down the door.”

“Oh…” Dave nodded.

The more I lied to him, the heavier my guilt became. But convincing him to like Theo is important. Honestly, this is more draining than I’d expected.

“How reckless…” Dave murmured. “He could use something else to break the door instead of his arm. This injury can make him useless for a while. Great-grandpa mentioned that the company is in crisis.”

“The company can wait,” I assured him. “Your Daddy’s health matters.”

“Someone like him should always be cautious,” Dave replied. “He has a whole company to manage, but he went ahead and risked his life. That’s irresponsible.”
