My heart raced in bewilderment, a feeling of dread creeping in.

He must have opened my door quietly and discreetly without alerting the security. I didn’t need to guess what brought him.

Either he’s here to steal something or do worse.

Quickly, I grabbed my phone and hid under the table. His muddied leather shoes came into view as he paused for a moment.

I couldn’t see his face through the linen covering the table. My heart pounded as he resumed walking, heading towards my bedroom.

A startling sound echoed as he kicked the bedroom door… then a grunt of annoyance. “Is this even the right address?” Came the grumpy voice.

I shuddered and remained hidden under the table. My senses were alert, and any slight movement in my direction caused me to flinch.

“Unfinished food…” A sinister chuckle. “How interesting. She has to be hiding somewhere.”
