Chapter 4

Author: Gentlemanly Flow
When Roxy laid eyes on Sylvia, her expression instantly frosted over.

Sylvia was her sworn enemy. Both of them were considered one of the four most beautiful women in Javonbury, and their companies' ventures overlapped so much that they were locked in cutthroat competition the whole time. At one point, it had practically been a fight to the death.

In addition to that, their personalities clashed terribly. Sparks flew every time they met.

To make matters even worse, Sylvia's villa was right next door. She and Roxy were constantly bumping into each other, and every encounter deepened the hostility between them.

"Is this your first love, Roxy, the one you've been pining for all along? He's quite the looker. You've got good taste, Roxy."

Smiling faintly, Sylvia winked at Calvin. That single look from her set his body on fire. She was simply far too alluring.

Roxy was the typical cold and unapproachable beauty, while Sylvia had a fiery charm that stirred up a man's desire.

Calvin wondered if Sylvia had taken a liking to him as well. Even though he looked calm on the outside, he was all hot and bothered on the inside.

The thought of him having both stunning women wrapped around his finger made him gulp. He had indeed made the right choice by returning to the country.

Forcing down her anger, Roxy questioned, "Sylvia, what are you doing here?"

"Oh. I said why earlier, didn't I? I came to give Ashton a ride to the hospital. Madam Lowe isn't feeling well, and I'm so worried about her. I've reached out to the best doctor at Paramount Hospital and arranged a VIP hospital room as well.

"You don't need to be concerned about Madam Lowe's health, Roxy. I'll handle everything."

Sylvia's slender waist swayed as she sashayed her way over to Ashton. Reining in her nervousness, she asked sweetly, "Shall we head over to the hospital to check on Madam Lowe together, Ashton?"

Ashton thought for a moment before nodding. He got into the passenger seat of Sylvia's car without sparing Roxy so much as a glance.

"Ashton! Get out of that car!" Roxy snarled through gritted teeth, feeling extremely displeased.

Ashton knew full well that she and Sylvia were mortal rivals! Why did he still get into her car? In the past, he'd always ignored Sylvia when she tried to hit on him.

"We've already signed the divorce papers. What right do you have to order me out of the car?" Ashton queried flatly.

"I…" Roxy froze and was left speechless.

He was right. They'd already begun their divorce proceedings. What right did she have to stop him from getting into any car he wanted?

"You two are getting a divorce?" Sylvia exclaimed.

Her heart nearly leaped out of her chest when she heard that Roxy and Ashton had signed their divorce papers. She wasn't prepared to hear such glorious news!

At last, she had the chance she'd been waiting for. If not for the fact that she wasn't alone right now, she would've wept from joy.

Sylvia had waited far too long for this day to come. She thought she'd never get this opportunity. Finally, the foolish Roxy had made an irreversible mistake!

"So what if we are?" Roxy retorted.

She didn't understand why Sylvia looked so thrilled. Did she have genuine feelings for Ashton?

Roxy immediately thought that was impossible. After all, Sylvia was one of the four most beautiful women in Javonbury, just like her. Why would she be interested in someone like Ashton, who had nothing to his name?

"Oh, it's nothing. Congratulations, Roxy! You'd better not regret it. You don't love Ashton, but I do!" Sylvia declared.

Although she was doing her best to keep her composure, she was leaping for joy on the inside. She couldn't believe how stupid Roxy was. Did she really give up on Ashton for her first love? She truly knew nothing about Ashton, even though he'd been her husband!

Sylvia gave Calvin one last glance before sliding into the driver's seat of her Lamborghini. She gazed at Ashton with tender eyes. "Let's go, Ashton."

She stepped on the accelerator, and the Lamborghini shot forward.

Roxy had an uncomfortable feeling in her chest. She found that ever since Ashton signed the divorce agreement, he no longer bothered to even look her in the eye. For some reason, his distant attitude toward her now made her heart twinge in pain.

Could it be that she was wrong to divorce him?

That was impossible. Calvin was the man she loved.

Forcing away these thoughts, Roxy drove her and Calvin to the hospital. She could only rest easy once she confirmed that Irene was alright.

"Roxy, how about I stay at your place tonight?" Calvin abruptly suggested.

Roxy's eyes remained fixed on the speeding Lamborghini carrying Ashton and Sylvia up ahead. Shaking her head, she said, "I booked you a hotel room."

"But I want to be with you. I can't stand being apart from you, not even for a moment," Calvin said with a look of deep devotion.

However, his remark sounded rather corny to her ears. She couldn't help but think of Ashton.

Feeling frustrated, she said, "Let's discuss that later on. Ashton and I are about to carry on with the proceedings before finalizing our divorce, so it's best if you and I keep our distance a bit. I don't want people to gossip about us."

Calvin was displeased. He wanted nothing more than to take Roxy for himself right away. Once he had her in the bag, he could make a move on Sylvia next. He wanted both of these gorgeous women!

But he knew that being impatient would only ruin things for him. He wasn't going to let Roxy slip out of his hand.

"Okay. I'll wait for you. By the way, what's going on between Sylvia and Ashton?" Calvin asked curiously.

Roxy shook her head and replied, "I don't know either. After I moved to Lakeview Heights, Sylvia abruptly spent a bomb to buy the villa next to mine. I don't know why she did that, but she kept finding excuses to run into Ashton and me. I'm guessing she did it to provoke me."

"I see. I thought she and Ashton had some kind of secret relationship between them. Guess I was just overthinking it. But this makes sense. Why would someone like Sylvia fall for a guy like Ashton?"

Calvin felt reassured. Remembering that seductive wink Sylvia threw him earlier, he grew even more convinced Sylvia had to be into him.

Over in the Lamborghini convertible, Sylvia was visibly nervous, but she couldn't resist asking, "Ashton, are you and Roxy really getting a divorce?"

"Yeah. We'll be submitting the paperwork at the courthouse tomorrow. Once it's finalized, Roxy and I will no longer have anything to do with each other."

"That's great!"

"What did you say?"

"Oh! Nothing…"

Sylvia carefully picked her next words. "Where are you going to stay from now on, Ashton?"

"I haven't figured that out yet."

"Why don't you stay at my place? I live alone."

"That wouldn't be appropriate," Ashton said, declining her offer.

"Ashton, have you forgotten that you saved my life?" Sylvia's voice was somber as she said, "If you hadn't saved me back then, I would probably be forced to sell myself at some brothel right now. I wouldn't be living the life I have now…"

She recalled that stormy night when she'd been locked up in a holding cell by a human trafficking organization. They were about to ship her abroad, and they'd even seared a brand into her skin, marking her as their property. She'd been consumed by despair.

It was Ashton who rescued her.

Sylvia would never forget that moment when he saved her. He'd even given her a sum of money, enabling her to start her life anew.

She had long since fallen deeply in love with Ashton. But once she found out he was married, all she could do was linger in his vicinity without ever confessing her feelings for him.

Ashton, on the other hand, acted as if he'd forgotten her, keeping her completely at arm's length.

"My villa is right next to the Sloan residence, Ashton. That makes it easy for you to visit Celia. And if someone mistreats her, you'll be able to notice it right away!" Sylvia declared. "Besides, don't you want to get even with Roxy? We can pretend to be in a relationship to drive her mad!"

Her tone almost sounded like she was begging him.

"Let me think about it," Ashton said.

He didn't agree to it right away. But if he did move into Sylvia's place, it made it easier for him to look out for Celia. Celia was the most important person to him, after all.

Soon, they arrived at the hospital. Ashton and Sylvia got out of the car, and soon after that, Roxy and Calvin pulled up as well.

"Let's go inside, Ashton. Madam Lowe is going to be alright," Sylvia said. She summoned her courage and slipped her hand around Ashton's arm, her heart pounding wildly. Then, she shot Roxy a provocative look.

"Ashton and I can take care of Madam Lowe, Roxy. I'm sure you're a very busy woman, so you can head back now."

No matter how much pain he had been in before, Hugh hadn't cried. But now, he could no longer rein in both his emotions and his tears. Everything burst forth all at once."Mister, I'll grow up to be a brave man!" he vowed."That's awesome," Ashton said with a smile, ruffling his hair. Then, he turned to Nancy. "Your brave son is already fully recovered. I'll write you a prescription to help nourish his body. Give it to him three times a month as instructed. He'll definitely grow stronger and healthier.""Thank you… Thank you so much…" Overwhelmed with excitement and joy, Nancy started to kneel again to thank Ashton, but he quickly stopped her."There's no need to thank me like that. You should head home. Don't linger in the Heavenly Medical Pavilion's main city any longer. The sooner you leave, the better," he said quietly."Sir, I… I don't have any money left to pay the consultation fee…" Nancy said in shame. "If you give me an account number, I swear I'll earn the money and p

Ashton used his ocular technique to the absolute limit. With his draconic vision, he locked onto the fire poison inside Hugh's body, sealing and restraining the elemental power that belonged to it.At the same time, his energy continuously flowed through Hugh's pores into his body, guiding the fire poison and forcibly dragging it out.In the blink of an eye, a special kind of domain seemed to form between Ashton and Hugh. Visible strands of fire poison began to seep out from Hugh's pores, all of them drawn into Ashton's palm by an invisible pull. The process went on continuously. During this time, Hugh gritted his teeth so hard his jaw ached, enduring excruciating pain. He refused to let himself cry out, though. He was a brave little man!Compared to Nancy's tears, this pain was nothing."Good. Hang in there," Ashton encouraged.Ten minutes later, Hugh was drenched in sweat, but the sickly pallor on his face had already faded, replaced by a faint flush. The life force that had be

Someone said, "He must be lying. He won't even let someone die in peace. People like him are the worst!"Another chimed in, "Just wait. The greater the hope, the greater the disappointment. One look at this guy and you can tell he's a clown who just wants to draw attention. There are way too many wannabes like him who show up around the Heavenly Medical Pavilion!"Someone else hesitated. "Or maybe he really does have the skills… After all, great doctors can come from anywhere."The crowd buzzed with nonstop chatter.Travis narrowed his eyes and let out a cold snort. "Punk, the fire poison has already spread through the kid's entire body. At this point, even if I stepped in, it would be nearly impossible to save this lowly life."You'd better think twice before you say anything. If you promise you can save him and he still dies, no one in the Heavenly Medical Pavilion's main city will tolerate you."The threat in his words couldn't have been more obvious.Ashton only gave him a c

Ashton suddenly spoke up, his voice cutting through the silence like a hawk slicing across the sky. Everyone turned toward him, frowning when they saw how young he was.Quite a few renowned doctors had already examined Hugh before this, but ultimately, each one of them had been helpless. There was nothing they could do."Young man, don't talk big and rub salt in a family's wounds. Don't give them hope only to let them down again in the end. This is fire poison, one of the deadliest conditions known. It has already invaded his internal organs; not even a miracle worker can save him now. This isn't the time for you to show off!""Yeah. Just let the boy go in peace…""At a time like this, the last thing we need is empty boasting!"Voices of doubt and blame rose from the crowd.A few women, however, saw how handsome Ashton was, and their eyes lit up slightly as they spoke up for him.Travis and his apprentice both glanced at Ashton and let out cold snorts. Someone said, "I guess this is just fate. The Heavenly Medical Pavilion has never been a charity. In fact, if you want one of their top doctors to treat you, the price is sky-high and not something regular families can ever afford."The Pavilion has always served the rich and powerful. As for ordinary people, their attitude has always been that life and death are part of the natural order."Another said, "They say doctors are supposed to be compassionate, but there's no such thing as mercy in the Heavenly Medical Pavilion. Put it this way—if you want one of their apprentices to step in and save someone, you're looking at a few hundred thousand dollars at the very least."If you want the clinic heads to make a move, you can forget anything less than tens of millions. And if you want the pavilion's deputy heads to take the case, you're talking over a hundred million… Every life has a price tag on it.""Tell me about it. A chill ran through Ashton's heart. He was secretly grateful that he had changed his appearance and aura. Otherwise, the instant he stepped into the city occupied by the Heavenly Medical Pavilion, they would have sensed his presence. If that had happened, he really would have been as good as dead. But now, he was hidden in the dark, while the Heavenly Medical Pavilion stood in the light. That gave him far more room to move."I need to find a way to get inside the Heavenly Medical Pavilion. Only then can I see Wanda before the wedding…" Right now, Ashton was deeply worried about Wanda's safety.By all logic, nothing should have happened to her before the wedding. But unless he saw her with his own eyes, he couldn't rest easy."But how am I supposed to find a reasonable excuse to get in there?" He fell into deep thought.Just then, a voice full of pain and despair rang out. "Dr. Wade, please save my child! I'm begging you! As long as you can save him, I'll be indebted to you for
