“Hide in here darling and don't make a noise."

The little me had blinked up at my mother's red rimmed puffy eyes as she nodded at me in assurance.

No! I don't want to hide!

But I nod back and tuck my legs in till she closes the door and soon I jerk at the loud bang before the low pleading, sick pounding of flesh against flesh, the loud curses and the painful cries.

My head hurts.

The hurtful eyes of the little boy covered in blood. Dominik!

His emotionless eyes years later, demanding that I run away with him.

The snide remarks from Bianca which I had thought were thoughtful words.

The coded words and actions between mother and daughter which I had missed all my life.

Matteo's insincere smile and disgusted look which meant the world to me, I feel so sick.

Memories from the past came flooding in.

It is all a dream because when my lids fluttered and I became aware of my environment, the musty smell around me made me hold back a cough.
