Lillian’s POV

He finally says it – what he has been holding back for the past three years. He is ashamed of me. He doesn’t want to marry me.

I wipe off the single tear that escapes my eyes and hold back the rest.

“Then why in the hell did you marry me?” My heart is crumpling apart and my hand continue to bleed like my shattered heart, but I keep my voice firm and sharp.

His eyes hold mine as rage continues to form on his brown eyes, slowly turning them to golden brown with his wolf joining in. A low growl escapes his lips, spitting in disgust, “If I didn’t make the biggest mistake of marking you that night, I won’t be trapped in this tragic marriage!”

Eyes turning sharp, he lifts his hand and points a finger at me, continuing, “...All because of a false mate bond you orchestrated!”

My eyes widen. What? False mate? Orchestrated? What is he talking about? Is that how he sees it all this time? That I manipulate him?

“Our bond is real. We both felt it that night! Our wolves… Mine… Yours… It’s all real–”

“Stop lying!” he shouts, making me jolt in shock. He is blazing with fire, eyes glaring at me. “Whatever trick you used, it wasn’t the mate bond, and I’m tired of all your stupid lies!”

Taking a step forward with Sienna still clinging to his arm, he confronts me, uttering in a sharp, threatening voice, “I won’t be so forgiving to you every single time.”

I look at him in utter disbelief, so much so that I am left speechless. Is that really how shallow he thinks I am? That I’ll bewitch him into marking and marrying him?

“Keegan, calm down. You’re scaring her,” Sienna whispers while squeezing his arm in an attempt to calm him down.

I watch closely, waiting to see if Sienna is someone who can do something I never manage to do – calm him down.

“Alpha!” Dominic, his Beta, comes rushing in the door, his loud call taking all of our attention, cutting off the opportunity to have my heart broken than it already is if I get a confirmation.

Shifting his gaze to Dom, Keegan sneers, “What?”

Dom looks around us for a few seconds of silence, getting aware of the situation he is walking into, before he raises his tablet and gestures on it. “Alpha, something happened in the negotiations we are having with one of the pack’s companies. The board members want you to give them a call.”

Keegan nods his head. “Alright, I’ll be right there.”

Dom gives us all a look before he awkwardly bows his head in respect and sprinting out of the house like his butt is on fire.

In any other circumstances, I’ll probably be laughing, but I’m too numb right now to feel any other emotions than pain, anger, and betrayal.

“Will you be alright alone? I’ll be quick.”

“Yes, of course. Do what you must. Work is important,” she replies supportively, even squeezing his arm.

I let out a mocking laugh at the sight of them. What a perfect couple.

I am his wife, and he is blatantly worrying about another woman right in front of me.

Walking away, he doesn’t even look back at me, but dares to order again, “Don’t forget to wash Sienna’s clothes and prepare her room. It better be done by the time I get back.”

He doesn’t give me the time to reply to him as he slams the door close, leaving me there feeling like a piece of shit.

“Looks like you can’t even keep your husband wrapped around your fingers, Luna Lillian.”

My head snaps at Sienna, gone are all her facades. Her entire demeanour changes. Her innocent-looking face becomes cunning, her shy posture becomes confident, and her tearful eyes turn sharp.

Though she calls me Luna, it’s all out of mockery.

She continues, “Don’t think that because you became the Luna, you’ll rise from your lowlife self of an omega. Once a trash, will always be a trash, Lillian. Stick that through that thick, ambitious skull of yours.”

Facing her, I gesture to the closed door by tilting my head. “Now he’s gone, you’re finally showing your true colours, huh?”

Instead of replying, she approaches me and circles around me before standing in front of me with scrutiny in her eyes. “Your slutty worthless omega of a mother seemingly forgets to teach you her scunts way for Keegan to slips so easily from your gasp.”

Stepping closer, she adds after gesturing to my finger, “Do you really think that ring is enough to keep him yours? Tsk, tsk, tsk… Oh, Lillian, you still have a lot to learn.”

“Maybe next time ask your useless mom to–”

She doesn’t get to finish her next words as I explode with anger and raise my hand to teach her a lesson. With a control force, I swing my hand to slap her, but I probably underestimate the withheld anger within me because I exert more force than I intend, and her face swings to the other side as she falls to the ground.

“How is that possible?” I glance at my hand in surprise.

Reaching for something for support, she pulls the nearby chair alongside her, causing a loud thud.

With tears in her eyes and a supporting hand on her cheek, the front door opens and Keegan enters with a raging voice, “Have you gone mad, Lillian!”

He rushes to her side and panically examines her. Glaring at me while he protectively holds her, he curses, “You are far worse than I thought you were.”

“I–”

“What are you gawking at? Call a doctor!” his shout jolts me back from shock, and I shakily fish for my phone in my skirt’s pockets.

“Doc, I need you at our house ASAP. Someone is injured. She got her–”

My phone slips from my hand and falls to the floor when I look down at Sienna and find her clutching her stomach while blood drips between her legs.

Crying, she beggily looks at Keegan. “Keegan, save our child. Please…”

Keegan’s POV“Fine!” she hisses and steps forward, pushing me back. “You want to know the truth? I’ll give it to you.”Pointing to another direction with an outstretched arm, she keeps her blazing eyes on me as she utters with disdain, “That bitch’s mother who is a mere omega came to me and confessed! Do you know your ex’s origin? I am merely saving you!”My brow furrow. “Everyone knows she’s an Omega, Mom. It’s nothing new.”A scoff escapes her lips. “Huh! She’s worse than an omega! No! She’s even worse than trash! Her bloodline is a disgrace! Her origin will only taint our family and pack’s name! Much more, it will taint you, Keegan!”I look at her in disbelief after hearing all the ridiculous words that keep coming out of her mouth. “Taint me?”“She said Lillian’s father is a man of low standing. A disgrace. For all we know, he can be a servant, a rogue, or worse, an exile! Lillian, herself, isn’t even worthy to be Luna, much less her child!”Her chest is moving fast from her heavy

Keegan’s POVI watch with an aching heart as Lillian slips out of my grasp and out of my sight. I don’t know how long I have been standing at the porch of that old house, just staring at the empty dirt road of this outskirt, where she turns her back on me again and walks away. The sky is dark, and so are my surroundings, but things never feel so clear as today.I owe Lillian so much more than I think I do.After a few hours, I lost count. I start to walk back to my pack in a slow manner, as I feel like my legs are made of steel from how heavy it is. Or maybe it’s the heaviness that’s gripping my heart, being reflected in it.My hand holds the knob of the house where I used to live with Lillian, feeling its coldness through my palms. Is this how cold she feels when she’s all alone here?As I push the door open, the echo of Lillian’s voice keeps ringing in my head. The look in her eyes, the trembling of her shoulders, the tears on her cheeks… It all burns into my memory, that clenches m

What is it?” I ask, turning around in full alert as worry fills me upon hearing her loud shout. But instead, what I see is her jumping while motioning at her phone’s screen with wide eyes and a big smile.“Look, Lillian!” she shouts before waving her hand in dismissal. “Forget about that asshole for a while, he doesn’t deserve your concern!”“Okay, calm down. What is it exactly?” I ask while Craig shakes his head in both amusement and resignation before simply leaning back on the wall with his arms crossed over his chest, just waiting for what to happen.Taking a deep breath to compose herself, she continues, “Okay, so here’s the thing, since you’ve told me about you wanting to change places, I’ve been hunting down listings and guess what?”“No way!” I shout, my eyes widening as what she is saying slowly creeps into my mind.“For real? A house? You’re not kidding, are you?” I ask one after another, excitement already rising within me, momentarily vanishing my heav
