Lillian’s POV
I am Lilian Harrington-Edwards, the first Omega to become a Luna. Unknown to everyone, my Cinderella-like story is nothing but an illusion.
I am a fatherless child who comes from an unknown family whose surname is untraceable. From the start, my life has been a tragedy.
And as if my misery isn't enough, I become the third party in my own marriage.
My husband, Keegan Edwards, brings his first love, Sienna, home on our third wedding anniversary and even gifts her a bouquet of roses.
I watch from behind the kitchen window, a ghost in my own home, as they laugh like nothing has changed, like they are the ones who belong to each other.
She leans into him, looking up with those glistening eyes and an innocent, sweet smile.
“Thank you, Keegan,” she says, clutching the flowers. “These are my favourites!”
“You deserve it.” His voice is warm, nothing like the cold indifference he saves for me.
I smile bitterly. He never gives me flowers, much less knows what my favourite is. And yet, there he is—effortlessly making another woman feel loved.
Sienna laughs softly and rises on her toes, leaning against his cheeks.
My chest tightens as I feel my breath being suck out from my lungs as I watch in horror, doubtful if she was kissing him or just whispering sweet nothings.
Nonetheless, the smile they share after that makes my heart bleed.
This night is supposed to be ours. Today is our anniversary, and I spend my entire day preparing—arranging flowers, cooking his favourite dishes, setting the table like it actually means something. Like, I actually mean something.
But here I am, standing at the edge of their world, watching them like an outsider.
A hollow laugh escapes me as bitterness fills my heart.
Keegan is my mate, and we shared a heated night three years ago that led to our marriage; it’s all just that. Just a heat of the moment. A one-time thing. His wolf pushes him to mark me, and he has no choice but to get tied to me.
And since then, Keegan has rarely come home. And when he does, it’s late at night—just long enough to throw me a cold glance before locking himself in his study or falling asleep on the couch.
So when his assistant messaged me a week ago saying Keegan will be home tonight, and wants me to prepare lunch, no one can imagine my excitement.
I think… Maybe after three years, he will finally recognise me as his wife and be willing to celebrate our wedding anniversary. But it turns out that it was all my wishful thinking because he isn’t here for me, and I’m just a maid he needs to make this day perfect for Sienna’s arrival.
“Oh my gosh! Is that for me?” she gasps, pointing at the table I set with scented candles and a red wine.
My fist curls at my side, shaking with quiet rage as I watch her eyes sparkle and point at the table I set.
“Yes, of course.” My good husband replies and gestures for her to come inside, even pulling the chair for her.
Setting the flower on the table and sitting down, she looks up at him and squeezes his arm a little. “You are the sweetest.”
I press my hand on the kitchen counter as I watch them sit and clink their glasses, their eyes locked on each other while they sip the wine I chose, one among a dozen I tried last night just to make this dinner perfect.
Her every smile is like a dagger in my heart, and her every laugh pierces my ears. It seems like her happiness is built on my pain. But what did I expect?
I am the one with the ring, but in Keegan’s heart, I’ll always be the mistress who gets in between their love.
His heart will always belong to another woman.
So when she goes abroad, so does his heart…
And whenever Sienna’s in the picture, I am invisible.
Their laughter starts to get sickening, so I can no longer stomach it, so I take a step, ready to give them a piece of my mind, but Keegan’s words halt me, making me turn my head in their direction.
“Stay in here. You can live here. You’re always welcome to my home, Sienna.”
His home? HIS HOME? Did he forget that his home is OUR marital house?
Three years! We’ve been married for three long years, during which he has been mostly nonexistent. If more, it is more of my home alone.
“Are you sure? But I don’t want to intrude or anything,” she replies, looking so hesitantly, but the victorious smile hiding on her lips doesn’t escape my eyes.
Smiling, something he never shows me, he says in a comforting voice, “It’s the least I can do. Really.”
Scoffing, the boiling anger in my heart finally explodes, and I face them.
“And who gives you the right?” I ask in the voice I never once use on Keegan or anyone on this pack, my Luna voice.
Though I have lost my wolf the same night he marked me, I still have the basic things my identity gives me.
A furious smirk escapes my lips after a scoff. “This is OUR house. You don’t just get the right to bring a woman here and make her live with me.”
Keegan’s face turns dark while Sienna stands up protectively, goes to my side, and explains desperately, “Lillian, please don’t misunderstand. It’s not what you think it is.”
Acting all innocent, she furrows her brows and pouts her lips. “My house is still being renovated. I really don’t have anywhere else to stay.”
That is probably the lamest excuse I have ever heard, and my husband is either a fool or blind not to see it.
Crossing my arms, I shake my head. “In that case, you can stay in the pack house. There are a lot of rooms there. You can take your pick.”
“Enough!” Keegan slams his hands on the table, which shakes the tableware and subconsciously makes me flinch as I look at him in shock.
Facing him without fear and while masking my pain, I continue, “What? Are you mad? I let her substitute me in our anniversary celebration and eat the food I cook. Now, I’m even finding her a place to stay. Aren’t I being accommodating enough?”
He stands up and steps close to me, his dominance radiating. His blazing eyes stare me down, and his cold voice sends chills down my spine. “Know your place, Lillian.”
I scoff inwardly. My place?
Before marriage, I was the highest-ranking warrior, respected by everyone despite my humble origin. But for him, I let go of all of those. For him, I endure being cast aside and treated as a maid.
Isolated in our abandoned and cold marital house, I act more like a housekeeper than a Luna. I bet the pack has even forgotten my existence as a warrior and a Luna.
So, what is my place? A warrior that’s been forgotten? A Luna that’s an empty title? A wife who’s cast aside? A maid? A nanny?
In Keegan’s heart, I’ll say the last two are probably the places he wants to remind me of. A place he thinks I belong in.
My silence must have shown as obedience because he gestures to the stairs and orders, “Arrange a room for Sienna.”
Great! Now he even wants me to be her nanny as well.
Impatiently, he sits back down and gestures for Sienna to do the same. “Don’t mind her, Sienna. Let’s continue eating.”
I stand there and watch them eat so harmoniously. Keegan even helps her slice her steak, and that’s what hits me - the uncontrollable anger and sense of injustice.
Pursing my lips, I return to the kitchen and grab a set of utensils and tableware.
Their eyes meet mine when I arrive back at the dining table, and utter with a suffocating heart, “I didn’t spend all my time preparing for this meal… for nothing. If there’s someone who deserves to eat, it will be me.”
Keegan’s expression changes, but my heart is already too numb to care.
I head toward the other chair, but then she suddenly gasps, and things happen so quickly.
She leans forward, knocking her wine glass, which stains her dress, and she pushes the chair backwards, causing the plate I am carrying to knock on the back of her chair and shatter into pieces, with all the food scattering to the ground and the shards flying everywhere.
“Lillian! How can you push me like that? I already said I am sorry. I can leave now if that’s what you want,” she said in an almost crying voice with few tears streaming down her face.
I purse my lips to stop the gasps trying to escape my lips when I realise that a shard impaled my palm when the plate shattered in my hands.
“Lillian, can you be any more childish?” Keegan angrily remarks as he stands up, goes to our side, and worryingly hands Sienna a table napkin.
“I… I didn’t do anything–” My jaw drops in shock as I watch Sienna stand up, showing Keegan her stained dress.
“Look, Keegan. This is a new dress and I’m all sticky but…” She turns her eyes on me, looking all wronged. “But I understand why she’s so upset, so…”
She looks down, staying quiet at his side while clinging to his arm.
“Apologise, Lillian.”
I look at him in utter disbelief. “W-what?”
“I said, apologise!” Pointing at Sienna’s stained dress, he continued, “And wash her dress. There better not be a single dot of stain left in there.”
Those words completely kill every bit of patience and self-respect I have.
Pointing at myself with frustration, all while controlling the threatening tears on the corner of my eyes from streaming down my cheeks, I voice out through gritted teeth, “I am your wife, Keegan! I am your Luna and not your fucking maid.”
Throwing a glance at Sienna’s, I say with disdain, “And definitely not hers either.”
With cold, bearing eyes, he met my gaze. “A wife I never wanted to marry.”
I discreetly grimace in pain. The glass might have pierced my skin, but his words sure as hell pierce my soul.
“Making you my Luna is the one thing I’ll always be ashamed of!”
Lillian’s POV“Where… Am I?” I groggily stir in my sleep, blinking a couple of times to brush off my temporary disorientation from deep sleep. When I sit up and look at my surroundings, my lips go agape in realisation, “Oh.”Flashes of memories of how I got into Craig’s car yesterday rush into my mind.I still haven’t completely decided yet on which pack I will go to, but right at that moment, it’s only Craig whom I really know, and I decide to stay with him until I make my decision.Looking down, I pull the blanket away from my body and see the same clothes I had yesterday, all wrinkled.I just shifted from the bed and put my legs down, my feet brushing on the brown fur carpet, when the door hastily opened, startling me.“Miss! I mean, Luna! You’re awake! Do you need anything? Water? Food?” I look at her frantic face as she moves her hands giddily, pointing things out one after another. She looks young, maybe about 16 years old. Her curly brown hair is tied in a ponytail, and her ski
Keegan’s POVIt has been a week since Lillian left, yet her name still doesn’t leave my ears.I hear her name from every corner of the pack. Whispers of her name in the morning fill the halls, and the night grumbles her name during the patrols. It starts to get unbearable. It’s early morning, but whispers are already filling the hall outside my office.“Why did the Alpha let our pregnant Luna go?”“It’s not even about the pregnancy. Why did he let her go at all?”“Yes! She has served us for years as a great warrior. And now, she left without a word?”“No… she didn’t leave. She was pushed out.”My breathing turns ragged, and anger builds up, making me restless. Without thinking, I grab the glass sphere paper weight from my desk and throw it.Its sound echoes in the room as it shatters while its shards fly everywhere. With heavy breath, I drop myself into my swivel chair and push everything off my desk.I sigh. “I never expected things to spiral like this.”The door creaks open, and Dom
Lillian’s POVKeegan looks at me as if I have lost my mind, asking in disbelief, “You? Reject me?”His face turns grim, and his eyes glint dangerously as a low growl escapes his lips. He takes heavy and threatening steps before halting feet before me, head leaning close to my face, which gives chills to my spine.Gritting his teeth, he mocks me with his eyes as he speaks with an Alpha voice. “You overestimated yourself, Lillian. You’re just an omega. You don’t get to reject your Alpha. Only I can reject you.”Then, without warning, he officially states, “I, Keegan Edawrds, Alpha of Moonstone Pack, reject you as my mate.”In an instant, my breath hitches, and a raw, excruciating pain courses through my body while my chest feels like it is being sliced to pieces with a blade. I sway and am on the verge of stumbling back, but something keeps me upright.A loud growl echoes in my mind, sharing strength for me to stay strong, not to fall down before it whimpers softly and then… There is s
Lillian’s POV“You’re always welcome to my pack. Just tell me whenever.” After whispering that, he quickly let go of me and move away like nothing happens. When I ask Craig about joining his pack, an idea planted by the elders, I really haven’t thought it through. But now that he accepts, I can’t help but subconsciously look at Keegan. His eyes shift between me and Craig, looking at our closeness with a sharp gaze. Whether it’s out of anger or curiosity, I couldn’t care less. What I care most right now is the fact that if I really change pack and go with Craig, I’ll still have a connection with Keegan. One way or another, our paths will still cross each other.I sigh inwardly. “I guess… I was being too impulsive earlier.”With the hesitation building up on me, I decide to merely smile and vaguely reply, “I’ll see you when I see you.”With that, I left them to deal with things by themselves and went straight back to the house, only to be greeted with another surprise.I hear rustlings
Lillian’s POVFor three years, I have been spending hours choosing what to wear for this day, my birthday, hoping that Keegan will knock on our door, sweep me off my feet, and surprise me to my heart’s content. From cocktail dress, gown, to the most extravagant designs, I’ve tried it all. I’ve also hired tons of talented people to style my hair and do my makeup before, just so I can be at my best appearance and hopefully capture Keegan’s attention, but all goes in vain.Today, I stand before the jury court with my combat boots on, camouflage pants, a white shirt, and a brown leather jacket. I no longer dress to impress; I dress to be myself. For the first time in a long time, I am being who I really am.I have my head raised, and a will to fight radiates through my nerves, which I thought I had lost after getting married.“Luna Lillian, are you sure about this?” Draco Magnus, sitting in the middle of the high court, an elder from our pack, asked with seriousness. My gaze sweeps over t
Keegan’s POV“Damn it! If you don’t want to help, then don’t!” I shout as I slap my table as I pass by it and slam myself down into my swivel chair. My chest moves heavily from my ragged breathing as I am filled with so much anger.I mindlessly start grabbing documents from my table and sorting them out in a way I don’t even know until I give up and slam them back down on the table, shaking everything on it.“Alpha?” Dom cautiously enters the room, eyes wandering over my messy table.Leaning back on my seat, I heave a sigh and massage the bridge of my nose before pointing and ordering, “Get me the list of everyone in the pack and in the company that has rh-null blood.”He looks at me in a mix of confusion and shock. “Do we still need more? I thought Luna Lillian would–”“Just do it, Dom!” I shout irritably that he only manages to nod his head and leave.I shake my head as my eyes dart down to my drawer. Sighing, I open it and pull out a blueprint, slowly unfolding it on my table, almo
Chapter 4Lillian’s POVI hide in the corner while I watch Keegan and Dom enter Sienna’s room, feeling more dead than ever.Picking up the bag from the ground, I walk numbly to the nursing station. “Kindly give this to room 804. Thanks.”After putting the bag on the counter, I turn around without waiting for the nurse’s reply and leave the packhouse that suddenly feels very foreign to me, more than before. As soon as I pass through the pack house’s gate, my phone keeps ringing. Fishing it out of my dress pocket, I read Keegan’s name flashing on the screen.I simply ignore it and keep walking, but my phone keeps pinging with notifications.Frustrated, I groan and pull out my phone to see a text from him. “Lillian! Pick up the damn phone!”Just as I am about to hide my phone, it rings.“Just my luck!” I almost curse when I see my mom’s name on my phone screen.Sighing with frustration, I hit the answer button and put it beside my ear. “Mom.”“Why are you just picking up now? Hurry up an
Chapter 3Lillian’s POVKeegan’s eyes waver in shock before he trembles and scoops her up in his arms, carrying her in bridal style.“I’ll bring her to the hospital.” He glares at me as he passes by my path while continuing to run out the door, his face looking pale.I scoff, staring at his vanishing figure in a daze.“Dom! The car, damn it!” That’s the last thing I hear from him before the screeching sound of the car fills the air.“Keegan… Save our child… Please…”Those words of Sienna echo in my ear like a broken cassette on repeat. My hand subconsciously rise to my flat stomach while my legs turn into jelly and give out. With my back cascading on the rough wall, I slide down to the cold ground with a thud.“Hello? Hello? How’s the patient? Hello! Are you still there?”The loud shouts coming from the phone I dropped earlier pull me out of my trance. With shaking hands, I reach for it—right there beneath my feet—and lift it to my ear. I take a deep breath, and then a cold voice I bar
Chapter 2Lillian’s POVHe finally says it – what he has been holding back for the past three years. He is ashamed of me. He doesn’t want to marry me.I wipe off the single tear that escapes my eyes and hold back the rest.“Then why in the hell did you marry me?” My heart is crumpling apart and my hand continue to bleed like my shattered heart, but I keep my voice firm and sharp. His eyes hold mine as rage continues to form on his brown eyes, slowly turning them to golden brown with his wolf joining in. A low growl escapes his lips, spitting in disgust, “If I didn’t make the biggest mistake of marking you that night, I won’t be trapped in this tragic marriage!”Eyes turning sharp, he lifts his hand and points a finger at me, continuing, “...All because of a false mate bond you orchestrated!”My eyes widen. What? False mate? Orchestrated? What is he talking about? Is that how he sees it all this time? That I manipulate him? “Our bond is real. We both felt it that night! Our wolves… Mi
