Lillian’s POV

My heart is pounding fast and hard inside my chest, heat burning on every inch of my nerves, and for a while, I feel so… alive.

The feeling is so intoxicating that I let myself get lost in his kiss for a moment. Though I feel like I am betraying myself, I let his scent and the memories of what we used to have that once threatened to swallow me whole, fill me again.

For a while, it feels like everything I have managed to bury is rising to the surface again.

The sleepless nights I have wished for his touch, and the days I craved for his sweet nothing.

And then…

The feeling of being alive becomes more intense as something more surges within me.

Until…

“Lilian…”

A soft, faint voice echoes in my mind. No… It’s not Keegean’s and definitely not my inner voice.

I-It’s… It’s my wolf’s.

Suddenly, all the burning sensation within me turns cold, and my pounding heart freezes.

That isn’t my imagination, isn’t it? It’s… It’s my wolf.

“You there? You’re here?” I ask as soon as I realis

Keegan’s POV“Fine!” she hisses and steps forward, pushing me back. “You want to know the truth? I’ll give it to you.”Pointing to another direction with an outstretched arm, she keeps her blazing eyes on me as she utters with disdain, “That bitch’s mother who is a mere omega came to me and confessed! Do you know your ex’s origin? I am merely saving you!”My brow furrow. “Everyone knows she’s an Omega, Mom. It’s nothing new.”A scoff escapes her lips. “Huh! She’s worse than an omega! No! She’s even worse than trash! Her bloodline is a disgrace! Her origin will only taint our family and pack’s name! Much more, it will taint you, Keegan!”I look at her in disbelief after hearing all the ridiculous words that keep coming out of her mouth. “Taint me?”“She said Lillian’s father is a man of low standing. A disgrace. For all we know, he can be a servant, a rogue, or worse, an exile! Lillian, herself, isn’t even worthy to be Luna, much less her child!”Her chest is moving fast from her heavy

Keegan’s POVI watch with an aching heart as Lillian slips out of my grasp and out of my sight. I don’t know how long I have been standing at the porch of that old house, just staring at the empty dirt road of this outskirt, where she turns her back on me again and walks away. The sky is dark, and so are my surroundings, but things never feel so clear as today.I owe Lillian so much more than I think I do.After a few hours, I lost count. I start to walk back to my pack in a slow manner, as I feel like my legs are made of steel from how heavy it is. Or maybe it’s the heaviness that’s gripping my heart, being reflected in it.My hand holds the knob of the house where I used to live with Lillian, feeling its coldness through my palms. Is this how cold she feels when she’s all alone here?As I push the door open, the echo of Lillian’s voice keeps ringing in my head. The look in her eyes, the trembling of her shoulders, the tears on her cheeks… It all burns into my memory, that clenches m

Lillian’s POV“What? What is it?” I ask, turning around in full alert as worry fills me upon hearing her loud shout. But instead, what I see is her jumping while motioning at her phone’s screen with wide eyes and a big smile.“Look, Lillian!” she shouts before waving her hand in dismissal. “Forget about that asshole for a while, he doesn’t deserve your concern!”“Okay, calm down. What is it exactly?” I ask while Craig shakes his head in both amusement and resignation before simply leaning back on the wall with his arms crossed over his chest, just waiting for what to happen.Taking a deep breath to compose herself, she continues, “Okay, so here’s the thing, since you’ve told me about you wanting to change places, I’ve been hunting down listings and guess what?”“No way!” I shout, my eyes widening as what she is saying slowly creeps into my mind.“For real? A house? You’re not kidding, are you?” I ask one after another, excitement already rising within me, momentarily vanishing my heav

Lillian’s POVThe past few days blur together in a haze of restless searching and quiet heartbreak. Just as Craig promised, he helped me look for my mom, but it’s as if she vanished into thin air, leaving no trace at all.No matter where we search or whom we ask, we can’t find anything.Even Maddox tries to help. She and Craig both keep dragging me from place to place, from dawn to dusk, in hopes of finding her. We have looked for her from the corner of packlands, the unclaimed lands, and even the outskirts of towns and the most secluded areas we can find, like forests and abandoned buildings in the city. But there’s no sign of her, leaving me disappointed. And all through those disappointments, Maddox and Craig never left my side. They stay there supporting me every step of the way.Walking in the middle of a popular street market in the city, Maddox runs up to me and Craig with water in her hand and gives us each a bottle. While I open my bottle, she clings her arm on my shoulder a

Lillian’s POVThe night air feels heavy, and the ground feels like it is pulling me down as I make my way back to the Oasis pack.Every step I take further from that cabin makes my heart wearier, as everything that has happened sinks deeper into me.After an hour of walking or even longer, I finally see the massive gate of the pack house, its lights spilling warm yellow onto the porch. And there… standing right at the door as if he has been waiting for me all along, is Craig.“What are you doing here?” I ask while catching my breath, partially hiding my surprise as well.Despite the storm in my heart, I retain a forced smile while looking at him.He has once pulled me out of my nightmare. I don’t want him to see me again like this… broken, lost, and on the verge of falling apart. But obviously, Craig isn’t a fool, nor is he as insensitive as Keegan. He is far from a fool. His eyes soften the second he gets to see my face clearly, and his smile vanishes. Stepping closer, he looks at me
