Chapter 50 Take him in.

Lawrence POV:

The door to my chamber was designed to admit only those who were familiar with its workings, but the silence following the knock piqued my curiosity about who it could be.

I got up and approached the door, glancing at the little screen embedded in my smart door to see who was standing on the other side. “Luke.” I called, recognising him instantly. I paused for a few seconds before finally opening the door.

I invited him into my chamber for the first time, uncertain what had compelled me to do so. We could have easily gone to the living room to discuss his purpose, but something in me felt like he posed no real threat here. He wouldn’t dare.

“Brother, we need to talk,” he said as I stepped aside to let him in.
