Sitting in the college's library with Sebastian, I raked my fingers into my hair, dropped my forehead on the desk, and sighed.
"You're fine?" Sebastian asked, but I didn't raise my neck to look at him.
"I'm exhausted," I replied. "This project is getting on my nerves. It's too hard. I should have just gone to a normal University. I didn't know this course would end up being so difficult to understand."
He chuckled. "Maybe you should get some rest, huh?"
I raised my head, leaned my elbow on the desk, and exhaled. "That's easy for you to say. You're successful and rich."
He smiled and pinched my cheek. "That doesn't matter, chic. And oh, I've been wanting to say you look really cute today."
"Thank you, sir." I rolled my eyes at him.
His phone rang from the desk. Taking it, he picked it up immediately.
Sebastian________"Thanks sir." The store owner smiled as she packaged the hamburger I had just bought. Handling it to me, she grinned. "Here. We hope to see you anytime soon."I returned her smile, paid for the hamburger, then headed out of the place. Stepping out, I took in a deep sigh, tired. Grabbing my phone from the pocket of my trouser, I dialed Ethan's number."Sup, man?" I greeted him first when he picked up."Nothing much. You need something?" His voice cracked as he spoke. He was obviously chewing on something."Yeah. I want you to pick me up at the local food store Adrienne and I recently visited. I came here to get her her favorite burger. Do you mind coming?""Hmm, Mr. Lover," he teased, and chuckled. "No problem. I'll be on my way there.""Thanks," I added, hung up.
Adrienne________"Aww." I smiled at Sebastian, filled with joy that he had bought me my favorite flowers. "You're so sweet. Thanks so much!"He leaned forward, dropped a kiss by the corner of my lips. "Anything for my darling."Staring at each other, we both grinned widely. But, all of a sudden, his smile disappeared. His bright eyes suddenly darkened, and his face turned pale. It felt as if a pang hit his head, causing an unexplainably pain to move through him. I could see sadness in his eyes."Are you okay?" I dropped my flowers on the small wooden table in front of us.He shook his head, blue eyes holding some tears. "I can only cry right now. I'm so pained. Just because I don't cry doesn't mean I'm so strong.""Why would you want to cry?" I shifted closer to him, took his hands."Because I'm lost. I'm lost wi
Wandering in front of the huge door of Sebastian's building, I exhaled, contemplating on whether it was important to go to him now. Of course, it was important, but I was just so nervous. I had experienced his anger before. I knew he didn't like being treated badly or being humiliated. What if what I had done to him made him so angry, or made him turn back to his old self?Okay. There was only one way to find out. I just had to walk in there, and speak with the man I liked. Well, since he liked me, there wasn't supposed to be any problem, right? Ugh! I was so confused.Swallowing hard, I inserted the door card into its slot. As if the door wanted me to speak to him as soon as possible, it opened up in only a few seconds. Maybe three seconds. Why so quick? It was probably a sign that things would work out fine between us.Stupid thought, I thought. The place was silent as usual. The
I stared at Sebastian as he glared at himself, folded his arms around his chest. Leaning his back against the comfy couch, he sighed."I can't allow it." He finally looked at me.I shifted closer to him, held his hand, soothed his palm. "Come on." My lips pulled into a childish pout. "It's gonna be fine. Trust me. You know I don't like Dave, so why are you still this worried?""He kissed you that day!" He spat out, sounding more flustered. "What if he does it again? Fine, I know you don't like him, but he likes you. Can't you understand that?"I rolled my eyes. "It's not like he'll force me to kiss him or something.""What if he does?" He snorted, and bit his forceful sneer."Hey!" I slapped his arm. "Why are you being this jealous? Nothing will happen between us, ok?""Why can't I take you to the airport myself? I know
Adrienne_______Seeing how worried Dave seemed, I kind of felt disturbed. He looked tense and pale. In fact, his head was turning red. What could possibly be wrong with him?"Dave? Are you fine?" I asked again, but still, there was no reply from him. All he did was stare intently at mom. His mouth was dropped as well, his eyes broadly open. I saw tears in his eyes, and that worried me more."Adrienne," Mom called. She probably noticed him too.I turned to her, furrowed my eyebrows. "Yes, ma?""Is your friend okay?" I saw some kind of disturbance in her eyes.I sighed, turned to him. Taking a step closer, I tapped his arm, which made him flinch. "What's wrong? Why aren't you saying anything?""A-Ady," he stuttered, finally looking at me. "A-are you sure she's your mom? Are you…" he swallowed, not saying any
Finally, she removed the test result from the envelope. For a moment, she stared at it comprehensively, and then, she sighed. "Oh, God," she muttered, dropping her hand on her chest. It was as if she was shocked, as well, it was as if she was relieved. What was the result?"Ma?" I tapped her shoulder. "What does it say?"Again, she sighed, stood up, and turned around to look at me. "It's negative." There was a smile on her face. I wanted to smile back at her, but I just couldn't. If I did, it would hurt Dave. Dave had once told me how important his locket was. He had said it made him feel like he wasn't so lonely as he truly was. He had said he never saw his mother, but she was close to his heart. So, now that this had to happen, wouldn't he be hurt that the woman he thought was his mom, wasn't? Ah, shit, why him?He stood up from his seat, looking quite hurt. Mom probably noticed how sad he looked, so she cupped his hands in hers. "Hey, dear." She smiled warmly at him. "I know h
He stared hard. Reading his eyes, I saw hurt in them. Not just hurt, disappointment as well. It was as if he wasn't expecting this at all."What?" That left his lips in a whisper.I swallowed, and nodded. "That's it, Dave. Stop trying to get close to me. You like me, but I don't like you. Sebastian isn't the same person he used to be, so I decided to give him a chance. Stop causing a problem in my life by trying to get close. I don't want to feel sad for rejecting you. I… don't like you as a lover," I uttered. For a moment, his gaze was more intense. It felt like he didn't want to stop staring at all. What the heck was he looking at? The brown color of my eyes? His throat moved, up and down, then he stepped backwards. Lowering his head, his fingers rolled up into a fist. "I'm sorry for having to get close to you.""It's not a problem. You—"&
I tightened my fist, glared at Lauretta, felt the need to hit her. When she had taken a glimpse sideways, I knew she had been up to something. She had probably seen Adrienne coming, so she had decided to pick up and act. But what was she going to gain from this?Tugging her arm, I yanked her close. "Did you do this on purpose?""Maybe." Her lips flipped up into a sneer."Why?" My voice was low, rough and weak. I was scared. So scared. Adrienne had said she “knew it”. What exactly did she know? Had she been doubting me? Had she— It was better to not think about that right now.She licked her lips, slowly raised her fingers to caress my jaw line. "Did I say anything wrong, huh? I'm truly tired of having to wait for you. This is the second time I've come to Florida. Why can't you see I want you? You've stopped giving me money, but that's not just it. I want you."&nb
