Apart from removing the dead baby, did they also remove my womb without my knowledge?
“Ethan's decision was the best to rid your last baby. I heard it's a damn daughter again?” She scoffs.
I could hear my heart thundering as if it would burst out at any moment. "Ethan, what does she mean?"
Ethan turned at me finally. What he said next sent chills down my spine.
“Am I wrong? At least that way, she wasn't born to be a useless omega she-wolf. She won’t suffer."
My whole body is stiff as wood, and I can hardly breathe. “So, you killed my unborn baby and took out my… womb?”
Ethan kept babbling, something I had never witnessed in the seven years I had lived by his side.
He emphasized that everything he did was for the good of me and my daughters. He said he never registered our marriage, let alone marked me as his mate for the past seven years. And with a scoff in between, he said I was such a naïve soul who didn't even realize that he had not marked me all these years.
He talked as if that was the most natural thing, while I was the crazy one for not thinking the same.
My face must have looked like I had eaten vinegar.
“Charlene is generous in letting you and your daughters stay here despite her being my Luna. Just imagine how hard it was for Charlene to allow you to stay beside me. So, stop making a fuss over it.”
Generous? Bullshit. I'm sure she'll tear me to shreds as her plaything. I will be treated worse than I've been through for the last seven years.
Living in this hell might be my cursed fate. But what about my innocent daughters?
“I… will go. Then you don't need to be generous to these useless women, right?”
Ethan looked at me as if offended and spoke through his gritted teeth. “You're not going anywhere, Narsha.”
Just why?!
He's already got another woman by his side, and she clearly despised my existence.
“My wolf wants you, so you will stuck by my side until the end.”
I snort. I muttered curses under my breath. "You're sick, Ethan."
"Hey, your daughters are still young. They still need to be groomed under my care so that later, I can place them with men who desire them. That's how they will become useful."
I could hear a rope snapped in the back of my head.
“How dare you try to sell my daughters!!” I charged at Charlene instead of Ethan. Fully aware that it wouldn't give her the slightest scratch as Ethan shielded her.
Ethan strikes my face hard, something he had never done directly to me before, but he let others do it.
My head yanked to the side, and my body faltered to the floor. I rubbed my cheek, which felt hot and sore. I felt the blood flowing.
He grabbed my hair until my back jerked and started slapping my face again several times. His sharp nails dug into my cheek. “You charge at her?! Can you take responsibility if I lose my son in her womb? How dare you keep talking back at me? Do you want to die? You're an ungrateful bitch! If it's not for—”
Behind him, Charlene cracked a smile as she looked down at me with joy.
I don't really remember what happened after Ethan ordered the guard to drug me. I guess they dragged me back to my room like a death goat.
I blinked my eyes, then let beads of tears roll down my cheeks.
“Mommy, are you awake?”
"Mommy?"
My beloved daughter's face pops up. That's when I made a decision.
..
...
....
She bit her lip, stifling her broken tears. She couldn't bear to see her two daughters' faces.
She's so ashamed.
It shouldn't be her who cries, but her daughters, as they were born to a stupid mother like her. Obeying Ethan's order, she couldn't even let them play outside the manor, giving the excuse that the outside world is dangerous. When deep inside, she knows that this place is far more destructive. And now they might get stuck inside it for how long.
She kept muttering sorry between sobs, as there was nothing else she could say to them.
The two daughters, who took after her appearance with black hair and emerald eyes, hugged her neck using their tiny arms.
Cherish, her 6-year-old older daughter asks. “What do you want to do now, Mom? I'll support you with whatever it is.”
Narsha fiddled with her fingers. "What if Mommy insists we must stay in this place?"
With a sigh, Cherish answered. "Then I'll be with you."
“Chelsea, too!” Her 5-year-old daughter chimed in, supporting her older sister’s idea.
“But, aren't you always nagging me to run away?”
“I do. And still do. But what if we run away but you're unhappy in the new place? Then I will be very sad. I know he's your mate and how big your love is for that man."
Narsha's heart sank. "That man is your dad, sweety."
Cherish shook her head and rolled her eyes. "Nah. I'll choose my own dad. One who's all there in the head."
“Chelsea, too!”
“And Mom, it's not your fault to give your love to that man. It was him who was crazy.”
It fascinates her how Cherish, in particular, acts like she has many experiences living in this world with her always soothing words. She believes Cherish is a genius born once every thousand years. She can't help but wonder how she could have given birth to a genius like her. Moreover, Cherish was born with special powers that have never been recorded.
Narsha took a deep breath and then spoke, "You’re right. Let's get out of this place, no matter what."
Cherish's eyes sparkled like a starry night. Now, she looks more like an ordinary 6-year-old girl. Cherish filled her in with information. She said Angie, the nurse who had been watching her closely for the past year, would come at night and in the morning to check on her. She would inject a sedative, as she has been doing for the last two days.
"Oh no. I can't stay under the sedatives if I want to escape, tho."
Knowing Ethan's personality, she was sure he would keep her under the sedative, no matter what.
“Yeah, at least until the banquet is over, Mom. That day was our only big chance to get out of here while everyone was busy and distracted.”
Cherish is right.
"When will the banquet be held?"
“Tomorrow night.”
She gasps. They had little time to prepare for their escape. If they're caught, it will endanger her daughters' lives. Even if they manage to escape, they have nothing to cover their future living expenses.
'I can't let my daughters live in the open, can I?'
She quickly went through her wardrobe. She's sure she has something like jewellery, a gift from Ethan at the start of their relationship. But she's not so sure anymore because her mother-in-law and the maids in this place could steal it as if it were natural.
And her fears were right.
How long has it been since Narsha choked on her own drink? Even to the point of making the liquid come out of her nose? She was disgusted with herself then, but if the question were to be asked again in another life, her reaction would still be the same. She couldn’t help it.Anyway, Narsha quickly denied the accusation with her whole body. Her desperate gaze met all the eyes looking at her with funny faces. Through her gaze, she hoped they could be easier on their teasing.“He’s not. Really.”“Oho, is that so?”Narsha couldn’t believe it. What kind of scene did they witness that made them think such a scary thing?Dexter is her daughter’s father? They don’t even look alike! Her daughters are the most adorable creatures with clear sparkling eyes, while Dexter… she couldn’t name anything good.Whether it was a question thrown as a joke or they really thought so, they both put her in danger. If Dexter had heard this, she wouldn’t have known what kind of annoying things she would have go
Sitting in his office, Ethan tapped his pen on the desk. Each small tap amplified the tension in the room, and his new secretary could only swallow his nervousness.“So, you're saying that there have been no communication attempts from them since access to the island was closed?”“Yes, Alpha.”After announcing that they would bring Narsha back to the Moon Golden Pack, his warriors, who routinely sent reports, suddenly lost contact. And at the same time, a storm hit the island, closing the sea to large and small ships. His forehead wrinkled. To say that it was all just a coincidence, Ethan knew something that no one else knew. There were no coincidences in this world, even if it was a warning from nature when Narsha was involved.“Not even through the mind-link with the other warriors?” He asked.“Yes.”“Then, what are the rest of them doing on the mainland? Didn't anyone swim to the island?” He asked, expecting a specific answer. However, Ethan stopped tapping his pen when his secreta
The door to room 303 was open. Narsha came out of the room. Her forehead wrinkled, and her eyes blinked slowly as she tried to process what had just happened. She glanced back, looking at the door that was now tightly closed, her answer left behind.Muttering softly, she walked to the room next door. “Really, is he okay?”Narsha turned the doorknob, still shaking her head. After entering, she sat on the sofa, which was the same colour as the sofa in the next room, trying to calm herself down. After looking around the room, she noticed that the interior display was identical the one in the next room. It felt like she was sitting in the same room, only without Dexter in front of her, and Narsha pondered. She studied her hands, clenching them into fists, then loosening them. She muttered again. “What's wrong with my hand? What was he checking?”She kept replaying what had happened in the next room. After holding and feeling her hands, Dexter fell into deep thought, as if praying, but Nar
Narsha cleared her throat, glancing at Enrique and then at Dexter. The corners of her lips lifted as she asked. “In that case, we have to stay here until the storm is over, right?”Dexter rolled his eyes. He was just about to eat lunch, but his appetite had disappeared.“When can the boat sail again?” He asked, waiting for a specific answer.“They said it's difficult to predict because it's a big storm.”“Tsk, why does it have to be today?” He grumbled.Enrique added, “There's one more thing, Alpha. The communication network is also down, so we can't use the internet now.”He picked up his fork again, synchronising it with the movement of his knife, cutting a medium rare steak. The sound of the knife scraping against the plate, which he deliberately created, disturbed the atmosphere. However, no one dared to say a word.Everyone in the room waited for his response, even though they knew what his decision would be given their situation.“Alright. What can we do? We’ll leave after the s
Narsha was speechless. She could only take a deep breath, then exhale roughly. Her eyes blinked tiredly, watching Dexter's arrogant face, enjoying her reaction.Damn it. Narsha didn't even have the energy left to listen to his words. What could she expect from a beast? It was in his nature to destroy everything, as long as it got him what he wanted. The false kindness Dexter occasionally showed her was just a means to an end. He only saw her as a pawn in his game of pride.Dexter tilted his head, a wry smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth. “You don't think I'm bluffing, do you?”Narsha tasted the dry, bitter taste in her mouth, then replied. “The problem is, I know it's not a bluff.”“Good for you for knowing that. Now, what will you choose?”Narsha wrestled with her thoughts and her heart, taking her time to make a decision that shouldn't have been difficult if she were a truly good person. But she knew herself. She wasn't that good of a person, so she had to consider things lik
After pulling her out of the water, he ordered his warriors to pursue Ethan’s men. They know there are five men involved based on information from Cherish. But after searching around the area where the boat capsized, they only find four men on the verge of death. The other one is assumed to have drowned and washed up in another area, or managed to escape.Narsha hoped for the first possibility. Considering that those men had been attacked with wolfsbane extract right on their faces, there was little chance of survival.Again, the fact that she had survived was a miracle. The villagers and her colleagues from the hotel gave her first aid after Dexter and his warriors brought her back to the settlement. After considering everything, Madam Bertha allowed her to stay in an exclusive room under Dexter’s supervision, following his advice.“Madam Bertha and the people of this island must be in shock.” Narsha sighed heavily. Not only did Bertha have someone posing as one of her staff members,
