A hysterical chuckle bubbled in my throat, but I somehow managed to swallow it. It took me a moment to find my voice. “It sounds like something you should tell Kaan, not me.”

A knowing smirk crossed Nathair's lips, sending chills down my spine. “You know why I'm telling you that.”

I shook my head. “No, I don't.”

The smirk disappeared, his features sharpening. “Don't insult my intelligence, Asena. I've given you nothing but honesty. I don't expect you to trust me completely, but at least don't try to lie in my face.”

I sucked in a shaky breath. “I'm not Kaan's mate, if that's what you're suggesting.”

Not sure who to trust. Nathair may actually be telling the truth about his mate but some could be a lie. I mean Kaan is working for Khaos because he has his mom and sister so is it so hard to believe that Nathair did something similar?
