MasukA book, a blanket, a cup of hot chocolate, and the fall weather.
The wings restaurant seemed to have turned into an interrogation room. Pei looked furious about what had happened. The police had taken care of the three guys, and the girl had been escorted back to her dorm. Pei had handled everything with care. Now, he had gathered them all together, and their night out had taken on the mood of a funeral.“Mei, you did it again? What did I tell you last time?” Pei demanded.“Brother, listen, it was a damsel in distress. I was just swooping in as the hero.” Mei tried to make it sound justifiable.Pei turned to look at Xue and Lin.“I broke my leg and got a black eye the last time I helped her. The eye was her handiwork. So, nope, I wasn't involved this time,” Xue said.“My right hand was in a cast for a month, and my neck was in a brace. I had a hard time even going to the washroom. Never again. But I did land the final punch this time, you know. She was kind of on the losing end,” Lin said.Pei turned back to Mei, who tried to adjust herself in her
The night was young. The three of them had set out together towards the building where the festivities were taking place. As Mei had predicted, they weren't enjoying themselves.“We're only a year older. How can we have already outgrown this?” Xue asked.“I think this is cringe,” Mei said. Watching all the foolish games made her gag.“I guess I was the only one who never really liked this sort of thing,” Lin stated.“Hopefully, it'll be someone's night,” Xue said. They all decided to head out.“Where to?” Lin asked.“There’s a wings place right outside the campus. Let’s head there!” Mei suggested.“Good! Food is always the best,” Xue agreed as they all walked out of the campus. They had barely made it past the gate when they spotted three guys surrounding a completely drunk girl. At first, they seemed to be helping her. Mei watched them for a little longer, but Xue and Lin were already tugging at her, eager to get to the wings restaurant. The girl seemed completely wasted. The guys su
Nina and Mei were enrolled in different courses. Nina had her mind set on business, while Mei was majoring in design. Classes were slow-paced on the first day, leaving everyone with some room to breathe.Xue was running late, too. Typical of her.Halfway through the class, she sneaked in and took the seat beside Mei.“The traffic, I swear,” Xue whispered.Mei shook her head, not believing a word she said.It wasn't long before the class ended. They packed their belongings and began walking out.“What about Nina?” Xue asked.“I thought we all had this class together. Wasn't this her elective?”“Yup, it was. She's in class with my brother. They managed to work out a schedule that lets them spend time together, so…”“Why am I not surprised?” Xue asked with a sigh.Mei merely shrugged.“So, Lin. Why didn't he join us? Wasn't he supposed to be there?” Xue continued.Mei stopped and thought for a moment. “That's right. Where was he? I left him with my brother. I have no idea.”“Well, I beli
Despite the sun and its rays, the fall had a chill of its own. The college was back in session, with a new semester beginning and a fresh start for many first year students. The path leading into the college was bustling with students. There were new faces, familiar ones, and even a few dressed in full goth attire. Students and staff arrived in cars, some rode in on motorcycles. The bicycles were also in the pciture as they whizzed past, seemingly oblivious to the speed limit.Mei munched on a chocolate bar as she walked, with Lin right behind her.Suddenly, Lin swooped in and pulled Mei out of the way of a speeding bicycle.“Hey! Watch where you're going!” Mei shouted, narrowly avoiding a collision. Her chocolate bar was now on the ground, along with her bag and books. She gathered her belongings, looking equally annoyed and heartbroken over the loss of her chocolate. Lin pulled another bar from his pocket and handed it to her.“Here you go.”“That one had a flavour of its own,” she
The past that lies behind us. The stories that forge the keys or shape the locks of the present. The experiences that become the manuals for the future.
Mei had called in the movers to come over to her place. She was taking only the essentials with her. Everything else, she planned to throw away. For convenience, she picked a café near her location and sent the address to Lin.Xue sat beside her, drinking the coffee Hui had bought while keeping an eye on her.'Let time take its course. She isn't going to understand, no matter what I say,' Xue thought.Once Mei was done, she picked up the lemonade and took a small sip. She relaxed for a moment before getting ready to leave.“I’ll drop you off,” Xue interrupted before Mei could say anything. Mei nodded, and they set off for the café.Mei arrived half an hour early for the appointment.Xue parked by the curb. Despite their early arrival, they could already see Lin waiting inside. His presence spoke of how desperately he wanted to have this conversation with her.Mei took a deep breath and got out of the car. Xue caught her by the arm.“Take care of yourself. I’m always just a call away.”
The youthfulness of the night slowly started to fade as dawn crept in. Her apartment was minimal and aloof just as she preferred. The dark shades of black and grey paired with a bit of white gave off a boring and lonely feel. She was used to being lonely and she enjoyed how it left her with space
Ling was totally taken aback by what just happened. There were no words that could help him climb up the shock that he just received. Standing in the room made him look like a fool who dug a pit for himself. He didn't want to spend another minute here.He left the the room without a word.
She was always ahead of time. So was she today. To her, punctuality meant 5 - 15 minute before the decided time. The buzzing designing office settled down sensing her arrival. She was seen as a heartless figure by her subordinates. Her 16-inch long wavy jet-black hair was only meant for he
The dream flashed through...the tightly held hand loosened its grip before it started to slide away. The doctors rushed and occupied their position. "The pulse has dropped" alerted the nurse. "CPR. CPR" ordered the doctor. Everything was falling apart.
