Her question made my head spin a little bit, before I turned to her and my father. So did Micheal. He turned to stare at them. I didn't fail to see how their eyes widened in disbelief after Micheal turned to them. That minute, my mother pointed a finger at Micheal while she stared at me. “Isn't he the Micheal I know? What is he doing here in your apartment?”. She asked. “Greetings, Mr Gael and Mrs Jane”. Micheal greeted them before he extended his hand to my father for a handshake. But my father refused to shake his hand, and that caused Micheal to take down his hand, thus making me wish that the ground could swallow me this instant, because of how awkward it was. I felt very embarrassed. But I knew it was mostly my fault, since I never told any of them that I was dating Micheal. I had planned on telling them about it when Micheal was there with me. But, even though he was now here with me, they came at a really bad time. I chuckled out of the blue. It was so awkward, I know. But still, I had to ease the tense atmosphere. “What is going on here?”. My father asked me. But instead of answering him, I urged him and my mother with a smile on my face, “Come in and have a seat, Mom and Dad. At least, I should get you a glass of water before we can talk”. They stared at themselves, before returning their gazes to me and Micheal. But to me, until they settled down, I was not ready to tell either of them what was going on. “Please, come in”. I repeated, and after a bit of hesitation, they did come into my apartment, while they gave Micheal some side stares which I didn't quite appreciate. We all arrived in the living room. “Please, have a seat”. I said to them, and just like how they hesitated earlier, they hesitated again, before they sat together on a sofa. Seeing them sit down made me sigh, before I went ahead and sat down too. Only for them to start interrogating me the instant after Micheal sat next to me. “Why is he sitting so close to you?”. My father asked with an obvious frown on his face. “Your father asked a good question, Adira. And why is he carrying your son? Since when did he become close enough to do that for you?”. My mother also asked, with a displeased look on her face. ‘Okay, this is enough’. I thought to myself as I didn't like the way they were treating Micheal like he was an abominable enemy. I stopped smiling completely, and the expression on my face turned into something very serious, and that was enough to make them understand that I was displeased by their behavior. Since Micheal was sitting beside me, I held his hand without looking at his face, and said to my parents without hesitation, “We are dating. Micheal and I have been dating each other for over a year”. “What?!”. They exclaimed, but I remained unmoved. “Yes, Mom, Dad. I am dating Micheal. And, he and I had planned for us to tell you guys the news, but I was the one who stretched it out because I wanted him to first finish the important work he was handling in Cindaly City and then return to me, so that we could tell you about it together”. I sighed heavily, before I continued to say, “I did not expect that you were going to pay me a visit on the day he returned. If I may say, your visit was very unexpected". There was complete silence after I finished speaking, and the atmosphere returned to being tense. That was until Micheal gave Vincent to me, before he rose to his feet and said to them, “I apologize that you had to find out about me and your daughter in this way, Mr Gael and Mrs Jane”. He bowed as he apologized to them. Then he continued, “But, the truth is that I love your daughter so much. So many things had happened between us, and it made me understand that she had always been the one I had been searching for”. “So please, approve of our relationship”. He added, and at this point, I felt my eyes get teary. Tears were threatening to escape my eyes, but I had to hold them back. Meanwhile, my father sighed in defeat, making me shift my gaze to him, as I patiently waited to hear what he had to say. Honestly, I wished that neither he nor my mother were going to reject Micheal, because I didn't want to disobey them. “Do you love him, Adira?”. My father asked me. His question was sudden and surprising, as I had not expected that from him. I stared at Micheal, and he stared back at me, causing our eyes to meet. Those pairs of charming eyes. That confident face. And the special glow that enveloped him. They all made me smile, because I knew that I had fallen in love with him. “Yes, father. I love him. I love Micheal”. I replied to him as I continued to stare at Micheal with a smile that was filled with love. I still remember those days when I used to be very scared of him. But now, it is not the same. It was the opposite. Whenever I see him, my heart is always filled with love for him. I turned to my parents with a confident smile on my face as I said to them, “Dad, Mom, you don't have to worry about me. I am a grown up. And, I believe that I won't regret my choice of giving my heart to him. It won't be like the first time”.Michael's pov, “Argh!!!”.“This is all your fault, Micheal! You were the one who did this to me!!”. She yelled at me as she grabbed my hand tightly. “You can do this, Mrs Adira. Push!”. The doctor encouraged her, while I wiped off the sweat on her forehead.“It hurts”. She whimpered, making me feel a tear in my heart. I wish I could take all the pain away from her. I hated seeing her in so much pain. I leaned forward and placed a kiss on her forehead. “I wish I could kiss the pain away. I really wish I could take it away from you”. I muttered, and she continued to hold my hand so tightly.“Ba- baby. Don't go anywhere”. She said to me, causing me to squat next to the bed, rather than keep on standing.“I won't”. I promised her. “I can see the head! Push harder”. The doctor and the nurses encouraged her again. “Argh!!!”. “One of the babies is out. I see another!”. A nurse declared. “Take deep breaths and push harder again”. The doctor placed a hand on her forehead as she said.“
{Nine months pregnant}“Happy birthday to you, Adira”. “Happy 27th birthday, sweetie”. “Happy birthday, little sister”. “Happy birthday, sister-in-law”.“Happy birthday, cousin Adira”. “Happy birthday, Mrs Adira Allison”. They all wished me a happy birthday, and I could not stop smiling from ear to ear. The decorations. The settings. The venue. This was something I never expected. Most of my employees attended my birthday party. Including employees from Michael's companies. And let us not forget about Jordan and Maximus, who were Michael's uncles, and also my uncles-in-law. They also attended my birthday party and sat at the same table with me and the family. “Thank you so much, everyone”. I said, as I never expected any of these. Earlier this morning, Micheal only told me to come with him, that he was going to take me to a special place. I remembered asking him over and over again where he was taking me to, but he never told me a direct answer. Until we arrived at the ve
{Eight months pregnant}“Ack. My back”. I said, and after taking a few more steps, I halted. As Micheal tried to help me walk, I shot him a glare. “Didn't I tell you not to touch me?”. I asked him with a groan, causing his hands to back off from touching me. I scoffed, before I opened the door and entered my parent's mansion. When I arrived in the living room, I did not know what happened to me. I got so emotional and began to tear up. “Vincent”. I called him when I saw him busy playing with Joseph. He turned to stare at me, and after a few seconds of staring at me, he forced himself to get up from the floor, before he came to give me a hug. “My baby”. I said, as I picked him up in my arms. But, I got tired at some point and went to sit down on the sofa with him. “Cousin Adira”. Joseph said, before he exclaimed, “Whoa, your stomach is so big!”. His exclamation made me shoot another glare at Micheal, who avoided my gaze and was looking all guilty. But I returned my attention t
{5 months pregnant}“I am really okay, you don't have to do this”. I kept on trying to make him stop, but he kept on being so persistent in shielding me from the sun using an umbrella. But the madness in it is that: Where the heck is the sun?!As far as I can see, the sky was cloudy, and the sun was not in sight. I felt more embarrassed because every single person I met on the way would not stop making an “awe” sound when they stared at us. That made the situation very awkward for me. Especially when Micheal and I argued. He wanted to carry me in his arms as we walked. In his honest opinion, I was heavily pregnant, and it was dangerous for me to walk a long distance. Seriously, is he being for real? The doctor said I need to move more in order for me and my baby to be healthy. Why then was he so persistent in carrying me in his arms? “Look, if you keep on being so persistent and so extra, then I will have no choice but to make you leave, so that I can walk around the park on m
{A month pregnant}“Really, it's fine, baby. I can bathe on my own. It's no big deal”. I said, trying to stop him from going into the bathroom with me. It has been a month since I became pregnant, and his actions towards me have been getting more extra. He does not let me clean the house. He does not let me cook. Most especially, he does not let me go to my company. Instead, he asked Jordan to handle everything for me. My family was just like him, especially my mom. She took Vincent with her and told me that she would take good care of him for me. She added that I should take good care of myself and her second grandchild.“No, it is not fine, babe”. He said to me, making me almost flinch because of the horror in his eyes. He held my hands and was staring into my eyes as he continued to say to me, “What if you slip and fall? Or worse, what if you hurt yourself?”. “I can never let that happen to you. I will never forgive myself”. He added and had this irresistible worried look in
Adira's pov,I woke up feeling very weak, and my entire body ached. But that was not the only surprise I woke up to. I was stunned when I saw my Dad, my Mom, Aunt Becky, Joseph, my son, Kai, Brooklyn, and my husband, in the room with me. “What is going on?”. I muttered and had to shut my eyes for a few seconds before I opened them, as I wanted to know if I had seen clearly, or if my vision was playing a trick on me. But after I opened my eyes again, I saw them. It turned out that my eyes were not playing any tricks on me at all. I tried to sit up on the bed, but before I could sit up on my own, Micheal, who was sitting beside me on the bed, assisted me. “Are you okay, babe? How are you feeling right now? Are you feeling any pain? You can tell me. I am listening”. “You should know I care about you a lot and hate to ever see you in any sort of pain or discomfort”. He said to me, stunning me. Since when did he become talkative? “Your husband is right, sweetie”. “If you are feel
