Michael's pov,

I stared at her closely as I tried to read her mind. She looked nervous. It was so obvious that I didn't need to break a sweat to find out about it.

Just when I thought that I might have taken things too far, or a bit far. Or just when I thought that she was not going to address me in the way I desperately wanted, I heard her say to me, “Baby”.

At first, I thought she was referring to Vincent whom I was carrying in my arm, but seeing how her face turned red, and how she tried to avoid my gaze, that said it all.

It was me she was referring to as ‘Baby’.

I was stunned, as I had initially thought I took things too far, enough for her to be angry at me.

Who knew I was just overthinking?

“I- I will be in the kitchen if you need me”.

I stopped thinking to myself and was brought back to reality upon hearing her hurried voice, before she quickly made me let go of her, and she left my side without turning back.

She didn't even spare me a single glance.

Though I didn't fail to see how red both her ears had become. “So cute”. I muttered, before I stopped staring and left the living room.

I went to the bedroom where I was supposed to stay, because to me, she was the boss, and I didn't want to disobey her.

Not yet.

Adira's pov,

I arrived in the kitchen and looked back, because I wanted to be sure that he had not followed me.

Upon confirming that, I sighed in relief.

“I thought my heart was going to explode”. I said, but after a second, two seconds and above passed, I came to a halt as I realized something. “Why am I so shy around him?”. I asked myself and tried to understand the logic behind it, as I did not quite understand the reason.

I have been missing him dearly for the past few months, to the point I usually dreamed about him.

But now that he was actually here with me, I did not understand why my heart was behaving the way it did.

“What if he thinks I have lost feelings for him?”. This question escaped my lips, even though it actually did not make sense to me, because, how could I say such a thing?

How could he ever think that I had lost my feelings for him?

I shook my head and tried to brush it off my mind.

“I should prepare something for him to eat. He must be hungry after the long trip back”. I said, even though he must have eaten while he was there on the plane.

I went ahead and opened the kitchen cabinet and took out a pot from it, before I went to the kitchen sink and switched the water on, with the pot in my hand below it as the water poured into it.

A few seconds passed.

I did not know exactly what happened, but as I stared at the pot, I saw that it was overflowing with water, making me understand that I must have been carried away.

With a heavy sigh, I switched off the water and left the pot there on the sink, without bothering to lift it.

“I can't concentrate like this. I should clear my mind so that I will stop thinking otherwise”. I said, before I left the kitchen and returned to the living room.

But after arriving there, I didn't see him. Meaning that he must have gone to his room.

“I guess I must go in there”. I said to myself and was ready to take the bold steps I used to be fond of making, but hearing my doorbell ring, made me halt on my tracks, as I instantly turned in the direction of the door.

“Who could that be?”.

I wondered and was a little bit suspicious, because only a few people knew me closely enough to know where I was living.

Still, I went ahead to the door, but did not open it just yet.

Not when I have not confirmed the identity of the person. I checked my door camera, and my eyes widened when I saw that it was my parents. Both of them had come

“What the?”. I panicked, because I had not expected them to come today, especially not by this time of the morning.

“What should I do?”. I asked myself and began to pace back and forth while at it.

‘I should just ignore them and make them think that I am not around. Yeah. That's what I must do’. I thought, before smiling.

But the second I heard a beeping sound, that smile automatically disappeared from my face and I halted.

My eyes widened in shock because I knew what a familiar beeping sound like that meant. It was the sound of someone putting in the passcode for my apartment!

Wait… have I forgotten that my parents knew the password combination for my apartment?! I slapped my forehead in pure disbelief.

“How could I forget such an important thing?”. I panicked more, and it got worse when he came up to me from nowhere.

‘What is this? Shouldn't he be in his bedroom? Then what is he doing here at such a wrong time?’. My mind was already going crazy.

“What are you doing here?”. I asked him quickly, with my voice sounding more like a whisper.

“He wouldn't stop crying after I left him alone on the floor, so I brought him to you”. He replied to me, before his eyebrows shifted, and he asked me, “Are you alright? You don't look alright to me. You are even sweating. Is there something wrong?”.

I didn't reply to him but grabbed his hand as there was not much time left.

Unfortunately, before I could make him return to the room, that was when the door to my apartment opened wide.

“Adira?”.

I froze as my mother called my name.

Michael's pov, “Argh!!!”.“This is all your fault, Micheal! You were the one who did this to me!!”. She yelled at me as she grabbed my hand tightly. “You can do this, Mrs Adira. Push!”. The doctor encouraged her, while I wiped off the sweat on her forehead.“It hurts”. She whimpered, making me feel a tear in my heart. I wish I could take all the pain away from her. I hated seeing her in so much pain. I leaned forward and placed a kiss on her forehead. “I wish I could kiss the pain away. I really wish I could take it away from you”. I muttered, and she continued to hold my hand so tightly.“Ba- baby. Don't go anywhere”. She said to me, causing me to squat next to the bed, rather than keep on standing.“I won't”. I promised her. “I can see the head! Push harder”. The doctor and the nurses encouraged her again. “Argh!!!”. “One of the babies is out. I see another!”. A nurse declared. “Take deep breaths and push harder again”. The doctor placed a hand on her forehead as she said.“

{Nine months pregnant}“Happy birthday to you, Adira”. “Happy 27th birthday, sweetie”. “Happy birthday, little sister”. “Happy birthday, sister-in-law”.“Happy birthday, cousin Adira”. “Happy birthday, Mrs Adira Allison”. They all wished me a happy birthday, and I could not stop smiling from ear to ear. The decorations. The settings. The venue. This was something I never expected. Most of my employees attended my birthday party. Including employees from Michael's companies. And let us not forget about Jordan and Maximus, who were Michael's uncles, and also my uncles-in-law. They also attended my birthday party and sat at the same table with me and the family. “Thank you so much, everyone”. I said, as I never expected any of these. Earlier this morning, Micheal only told me to come with him, that he was going to take me to a special place. I remembered asking him over and over again where he was taking me to, but he never told me a direct answer. Until we arrived at the ve

{Eight months pregnant}“Ack. My back”. I said, and after taking a few more steps, I halted. As Micheal tried to help me walk, I shot him a glare. “Didn't I tell you not to touch me?”. I asked him with a groan, causing his hands to back off from touching me. I scoffed, before I opened the door and entered my parent's mansion. When I arrived in the living room, I did not know what happened to me. I got so emotional and began to tear up. “Vincent”. I called him when I saw him busy playing with Joseph. He turned to stare at me, and after a few seconds of staring at me, he forced himself to get up from the floor, before he came to give me a hug. “My baby”. I said, as I picked him up in my arms. But, I got tired at some point and went to sit down on the sofa with him. “Cousin Adira”. Joseph said, before he exclaimed, “Whoa, your stomach is so big!”. His exclamation made me shoot another glare at Micheal, who avoided my gaze and was looking all guilty. But I returned my attention t

{5 months pregnant}“I am really okay, you don't have to do this”. I kept on trying to make him stop, but he kept on being so persistent in shielding me from the sun using an umbrella. But the madness in it is that: Where the heck is the sun?!As far as I can see, the sky was cloudy, and the sun was not in sight. I felt more embarrassed because every single person I met on the way would not stop making an “awe” sound when they stared at us. That made the situation very awkward for me. Especially when Micheal and I argued. He wanted to carry me in his arms as we walked. In his honest opinion, I was heavily pregnant, and it was dangerous for me to walk a long distance. Seriously, is he being for real? The doctor said I need to move more in order for me and my baby to be healthy. Why then was he so persistent in carrying me in his arms? “Look, if you keep on being so persistent and so extra, then I will have no choice but to make you leave, so that I can walk around the park on m

{A month pregnant}“Really, it's fine, baby. I can bathe on my own. It's no big deal”. I said, trying to stop him from going into the bathroom with me. It has been a month since I became pregnant, and his actions towards me have been getting more extra. He does not let me clean the house. He does not let me cook. Most especially, he does not let me go to my company. Instead, he asked Jordan to handle everything for me. My family was just like him, especially my mom. She took Vincent with her and told me that she would take good care of him for me. She added that I should take good care of myself and her second grandchild.“No, it is not fine, babe”. He said to me, making me almost flinch because of the horror in his eyes. He held my hands and was staring into my eyes as he continued to say to me, “What if you slip and fall? Or worse, what if you hurt yourself?”. “I can never let that happen to you. I will never forgive myself”. He added and had this irresistible worried look in

Adira's pov,I woke up feeling very weak, and my entire body ached. But that was not the only surprise I woke up to. I was stunned when I saw my Dad, my Mom, Aunt Becky, Joseph, my son, Kai, Brooklyn, and my husband, in the room with me. “What is going on?”. I muttered and had to shut my eyes for a few seconds before I opened them, as I wanted to know if I had seen clearly, or if my vision was playing a trick on me. But after I opened my eyes again, I saw them. It turned out that my eyes were not playing any tricks on me at all. I tried to sit up on the bed, but before I could sit up on my own, Micheal, who was sitting beside me on the bed, assisted me. “Are you okay, babe? How are you feeling right now? Are you feeling any pain? You can tell me. I am listening”. “You should know I care about you a lot and hate to ever see you in any sort of pain or discomfort”. He said to me, stunning me. Since when did he become talkative? “Your husband is right, sweetie”. “If you are feel
