The music blasting from the club reached as far as two streets, where my driver had parked to grab some pills for me. From the loudness, I figured my destination would be very full.
Shortly after, as I casually slided through my ipad, my driver returned and handed me the substance which was delivered for my use. If I wanted to have fun tonight, then I needed to be out of reality. I tossed some of it into my electronic crusher, my eyes still fixated on the iPad.
On the screen was the famous Delanxy’s page, a new next generation diva who has been the recent talk of the town. Not only was she stunning with a perfect body, she was also very affluent and the netizens were already shipping the both of us together. I had never been interested in online gossip, until my mom came visiting today, still bringing her to my table.
Apparently, her family had just taken over the crypto market and were killing the stakes. Turns out she was a close pal of her dad and they both didn't hesitate to fix a private meeting for the both of us.
In her words, I needed to move on with my life.
And I was nowhere ready for that.
As I scrolled through the page, I couldn't help but actually see the reason why they talked about us. She was just the kind of woman I needed. Unlike my ex-wife who had nothing to offer, ending up with Delanxy would definitely boost my business and also broaden my retrospectives in the mafia chain.
“Boss.” The driver called, jolting me from my thoughts. “We are here.”
Dropping the iPad on the chair, I transferred my crushed substance into a cigarette wrap and carefully sealed it, checked for my gun then brushed myself up, and headed into the club. To avoid being seen, I went straight to the private elevator that led directly to the top suite, which I had reserved for the whole night. From the sofa upstairs, where I sat waiting for my blind date, I observed the flock of people downstairs, who were having ‘fun’.
Alcohols.
Cocaine.
Orgy parties.
Typical club life in Ropp.
Ruben suddenly approached me with urgency in his stride.
“Sir, Miss Cromwell appears to be running late.” He announced, to my distaste. “She had to attend an emergency meeting and she sent her apologies.”
The thought made anger rush through me. Standing to my feet, I sorted Ruben’s shoulder with a fake smile.
“I might as well keep myself busy.”
“Okay boss.” he replied with a slight bow.
I made my way to the bar downstairs, with plans of drowning myself in one or two drinks. As I slipped into an empty stool, the bartender flashed me a warm smile. He has been one of my favorites since the beginning of ‘Wild and Wide’.
“The usual.” I requested, as soon as he made a greeting sign at me. He nodded immediately and set to work. Only he knew how I preferred it, sharp enough to burn but smooth enough to numb.
While waiting for my drink, I tried to scan the environs for a prey when my eyes fell on something more interesting.
The distance between us wasn't much, but her presence was impossible to ignore. Double coloured eyes, high ponytail and a face that screamed trouble in nice wrapping. One glance at her and she was already looking at me. Not with the normal flirty looks I always got, it felt more like she was observing me, lazily tracing the rim of her glass with her adorned fingers.
My head tilted to get a better look when the bartender dropped my drink before me. As I picked it, a soft skin brushed mine and threw me into a traunce I wanted to forget.
Memories of Yuanita.
It happened in a fast blink and the next thing I knew, I was frantically searching the crowd for the cause of that static force that just breezed me. I could swear there was a strange shift in the air, but I couldn't find the source. It was gone with the wind. Slowly, panic crept in and guilt laddened my thinking. I felt my lungs burn and my chest tighten with a piercing pain. My fist clasping around the glass, I emptied the contents of the drink into my mouth, and immediately ordered another shot. Whatever that was, it sure did trigger my nemesis.
SERAFINA. After buttoning his shirt, he walked up to me with his tie in his hands. Leaning down, he planted a small kiss on my forehead and my lips, before handing me the tie. “If you want, we can cancel the whole thing.” Sunday was finally here and I just couldn’t shake off the bad feeling that was lodged in my chest. The plan for today was simple: contact Ciara through Ruben, while Rapheal would go to the mansion alone. After a brief meeting with Ciara, I would head to the mansion after which we would come back home together. I didn’t know if it was because I was going behind his back to search for my powers again. All in all, I wasn’t positive about the outcome and raising his hopes like that would break me even more. “And I have told you, I’m fine.” I assured him. “I just feel somehow being away from you.” His lips curled into a smile. “You said you wanted to grab something. I can have Ruben do it or better still, delivered to us. Must you go get it yours
SERAFINA Today. On this day. I don’t think I will ever forget it. No. If we started counting, it would be from yesterday evening. And this morning was not excluded. From walking into the house, to our little banter, his heart-fluttering proposal that I just couldn’t say no to, our first time making love to each other, which slowly progressed to a rather rough and intense one. We ended up going about four rounds. Just the thought of it makes heat crawl up my whole body. Rapheal was a monster in bed. And I loved it so much. How he handled my body gently and still made me enjoy a bit of roughening up. Then this morning, I was awakened with his hands roaming my body, his lips whispering love words into my ears and his boner caressing my ass. When he bit into my neck, I was forced to jerk awake from the pleasure that surged through me, and reciprocate his touches on my skin. And this morning, we had another intense love making round.
RAPHEAL As we talked about many things while the car raced to the house, my heart palpitated in a crazy manner. I had made ample plans because I didn’t know what her fate was, but I was willing to try again with her. This time in a quiet manner. Just as the small fire in her eyes had gone dim, replaced by this sad look of the unknown, my heart was long gone with her. She may not be here for long, but I wanted to give her the best last days of her life. When the taxi pulled up in front of the house, she didn’t act so surprised, which I knew I had coming. There was more to it. “This place looks like it’s been frequented for a while.” With a sharp inhale, I squeezed her palm while leading her into the house. “I made sure to take care of it. I couldn’t let such a sacred place of ours disappear.” Her lips curled into a small smile. “We had so many memories here.” The sun was long gone, casting a dark cloud with many stars shining and a bright moon. I jus
SERAFINA. It was just the two of us in the room. It has always been the two of us since he woke up. Rapheal has refused to leave my side and prolly moved into my room with me, monitoring me and doing everything single thing for me. I wasn’t even allowed to lift a finger besides him. Although I missed him and enjoyed every single bit of it, a part of me held a guilt so deep, for the fact that I was going to leave him. He was clearly doing it all to know if he can somehow get me to stay with him. Sometimes, I catch him crying at night and it breaks my heart. He tried everything in his powers to make me happy and cheerful, but he was breaking inside. On my own part, I didn’t know if it was being with Rapheal or maybe because there was nothing bothering me again, I knew I was fast recovering for someone who had lost her powers and was at the brink of death. Whatever it was, I had resolved to spend the rest of my days with Rapheal. And by that, I managed to
RAPHEAL Distorted noises drifted into my ear drums, and being accompanied with little pains stabbing across my skin, I felt irritated. I blinked hard, trying to grasp what was of my environs, I had forgotten how the last one turned out. I just hoped Serafina was safe. After struggling for a while, the voices had become quite clear, making out my mom’s own, Ruben and another male voice which seemed kind of familiar. My eyes opened to a large white ceiling above me, which trailed down to a few faces staring at me, and the nauseating scent of flowers. “Rapheal?” My mom called, inching closer to me. “Are you getting to it now?” The smell of the flowers were strong with her, as if she wore them as a perfume. “Ger the doctor!” She yelled at the nurse standing there, who dashed out in fear. “Rapheal?” She was annoyingly noisy. I studied the scenery again, from the massive overhead window, the gray couch, side table lined with drinks, food and
SERAFINA “Move it!!” “Get the saline!!” “Shock!! One two!! Clear!!” “Damn..” the doctor I had just walked out of his office pinched his nose tightly. “What the hell happened to him?” The rest of the hospital staff shuddered at his voice, and retreated in fear. “He was recovering well this morning when I made my rounds.” A nurse explained. “His pupils even responded to the lights for the first time.” “Why wasn't this reported to me?” The man questioned. “We..I..” “What's happening?” Helen's voice sobbed, as she and Ruben rushed in at once. “What happened to him?” “Please I need you both to calm down.” The man tried to persuade them, but Helen escaped from his grip, almost stumbling on Rapheal. Ruben turned to the doctor with rage in his eyes. “What the hell is going on man?! Why won't nobody say anything? What..” Helen gripped Rapheal's numb hand, wrapping it in hers. “It's ridiculously cold.” “My baby is so cold.” She crie
RAPHEAL. I don't know how much time had passed, but I had taken a certain amount of shots that made my vision hazy and legs wobbly. Despite that, it wasn't enough to drown my thoughts around what had just happened tonight. Sometimes, it only takes a few seconds for your day to be ruined.
SERAFINA After my three fids training under Marionette– approximately six months– undergoing all sort of torture and handling a few trial missions, I was finally given my first official mission. Rapheal Dekoms, Ropp’s most eligible widower, was feared in power yet fatally vulnerable to be

YUANITA A sudden searing light tore through the darkness, nearly blinding me. I gasped, trying to catch a breath of air, as the memory of life seeping from me, clouded my mind. My lungs burned, and my heart hammered roughly in my chest, like it was being ripped from its position. I let out a l
