Dream Shattered After Three Toasts

Amid the guests' astonished gazes, I replied with a smile, "You two siblings have such a deep bond; of course I have no objections."

Jason seemed taken aback for a moment. He then playfully grabbed Wendy's butt with a chuckle.

"See, Wendy? I told you Leslie is a generous man. From now on... I'll be the one taking care of you."

"Stop it."

Wendy swatted his hand away with a laugh, then turned to me.

"Jason just likes to joke. You're not mad, are you? Hurry up and give me the ring."

Despite her eagerness, I simply grabbed a glass of wine and splashed it all over her face.

"Is this funny to you?"

The wine dripped from her face onto her pristine wedding dress and ruined her perfect makeup.

"What the heck are you doing?!"

Jason frantically dashed forward to clean Wendy off while glaring at me.

Ignoring Wendy's distressed look, I chuckled coldly and threw the ring away.

"What the heck am I doing? I'm canceling the wedding to make way for you two lovebirds!"

Then, I turned around and walked away as everyone stared at me.

"Leslie Yates, you begged me for Wendy's hand in marriage for two years! How can you just cancel the wedding like this? Do you take our family for fools?"

Wendy's father, Adam, spoke unhappily, the threat in his words very clear.

Meanwhile, Wendy's mother, Mary, tried to smooth things over with a smile.

"Jason went too far this time, but we're all family now, so don't take it too seriously! Young people shouldn't be so uptight!"

I found Adam’s arrogant attitude utterly laughable.

He seemed to have forgotten that, without my support, the Sanders Group couldn't have grown from a near-bankrupt small company to one of the major enterprises in the city.

He had said a thousand good things when he persuaded me to take on the role of deputy CEO at the Sanders Group, but now that he felt they had grown powerful, he tried to flaunt his authority in front of me. How ridiculous!

"Family? I don't want a woman who sleeps with her own brother."

Meeting Wendy’s furious gaze, I spoke each word slowly and deliberately.

"She's disgusting."

"Shut up!"

Wendy angrily ran over and tried to cover my mouth.

However, Jason hugged her from behind and said pitifully, "Wendy, if he wants to leave, let him. It's good riddance. You only dated him to save the company anyway. You don't have to pretend anymore!"

"But..."

Seeing the hesitation on Wendy's face, I let out a self-deprecating smile. Years of sincere love turned out to be a complete waste.

"Stop right there, Leslie Yates! If you dare walk out that door, it's over for you!"

I turned and left, completely ignoring Wendy's threat.

In my car, I slumped helplessly in the seat, feeling utterly exhausted.

I irritably tugged at my tie. The festive decor in the car felt like a painful mockery.
