Chapter Thirty One

Shadow of Death

Sage looked around. There was a blanket laying across her lap and there was a glass of something sitting on the table. She was sure the ice had melted which would have made her drink watery. It had left her cold and shaking. She knew that those words meant something, and it wasn’t good. Jared hadn’t stayed the night, and she could feel that she could lose her shit at any minute. Instead, she snatched the whiskey bottle of her nightstand and gulped it down.

Sage sat in her bed shaking.

“What the hell was that?” She thought to herself looking at the shadows that had crept into her room as she slept alone.

Unsure what to do she got up and began wandering around her big almost empty house. She walked past pictures that hung on the wall for years. She knew if she had taken any of them down there would be faded marks on the wall, but she liked them just like they were. She wandered around her house in search of something that she couldn’t put her fing
