Was he jealous? How on earth did this happen? can one melt a stone???

His gaze turned colder. He stared at him deadly, at that moment, there was nothing he wanted more than crushing his freaking head against the wall. He gently crossed his legs.

Max was a perfect gentleman. He knows when to kill and where to kill, even though that was what he wanted to do. He glared at Emma who was cheerfully rolling her eyes around the grand room, she seems to get a kick out of the environment.

David was seriously enjoying the free view of the beautiful woman contrary to him.

"I hope you know you're trespassing" he spoke lazily with an indifferent expression. Only his green eyes reveal the hidden emotion within him.

David didn't want to stare any trouble so he diverted his stare to Max, putting on a playful smile. He knew very well where power lies. And if he dares to offend Max then, not even the state President can rescue him.

Maxwell couldn't help but get offended when he caught glimpse of him staring at Emma from the corner of his eyes "are you in for my trouble?" his cold voice depicting a slight annoyance terrified David. He met the man's intense gaze and couldn't ignore but wonder who Emma was to him? Because the Maxwell King he was familiar with had no heart. And how can a person without a heart fall in love?

"Sorry for my rude behavior. I never meant to offend you in any way" he said sincerely. The meeting went on smoothly. After Maxwell's deadly warning not sure if Davide would ever approach Emma.

The driving back was quiet as it was some hours ago. Innocent Emma failed to notice the swing of mood on Maxwell's handsome face.

If not for the fact of him not wanting to scare Emma, he would have plugged out his fucking eyes to teach him how to stay clear from others' property.*gush!

By the time they reached the company, it was lunchtime but she went straight to her office. It was her first day of work, so she had a lot to cover for the day. So she only consumed the snacks she brought from home.

Thanks to her sharp brain she was able to understand the concept of Secretariat after hours of looking through old files.

" See who we have here," Ashley said, sarcastically arranging the variety of the take-out dishes on the dinner table."What is the bitch girl up to"Emma retaliated "Guess what? It's a celebration day for me because my good friend is back in the financial world. Do me a favor and drop your ass there to help me celebrate or better still get the hell out of my sight!"

"I can't believe I have managed to get myself a crazy person as a friend" She mattered

Emma headed upstairs to freshen up. Her thought drifted to Maxwell and a happy smile tugged her beautiful face " the spell of love is working on someone" Emma turned and spotted Ashely leaning on the bathroom door. "are you stalking me?"

"Just checking up on you" Ashe corrected

Ashley was her only best friend and family. They have been living together for years.

Years back, before she completed college. Her aunt, the only family she grew up to meet on earth, the woman who promised her mother In her sickbed she would protect and care for her like her own.

But unfortunately, that promise was just to encourage Mariana, Emma's mother to die at ease and without worries.

Her aunt made her test the bitterness of life, after all the assets her mother left in her name. She still had to do part-time jobs to pay her fees.

Stripping off her assets was not enough. She went to the extent of throwing her out of her own house mercilessly on a rainy night. She claimed there was no money to carter for her.

That was when she moved in permanently with Ashley. Her childhood friend.

Ashely never renounced her after she turned into a nobody. When everyone was running away from her because Joana, her Aunties daughter spread a rumor that she killed her mother. Ashley still chose her as a bestie despite how rich a home she came from.
