Chapter three

She shrugged off her gaze from the file to the cell phone beside her on the desk. "10:5" she murmured and hurriedly grabbed her stuff, her boss has a 10:00 meeting as stated in his schedule.

*

How can she be this careless? she scolded herself and headed to Max's office. Considering how perfect and sharp he looks, however, it occurred she had screwed up on her first day of work.

*

Nevertheless, Maxwell was more than relaxed in his seat waiting for his secretary. His cold aura dominates the room. She couldn't help to shiver at his presence. Emma had thought of apologizing for her mistake but she swallowed up her words at the sight of his cold gaze. She held her head low, Maxwell smiled inwardly.

*

Wasn't she the one who winked at him a few hours ago without any fear? what happened now? "you are late" his voice was cold but it depicts a lot of meaning as if warning her. Jude who merely arrived peered at the uncomfortable Emma.

*

And flared his glare towards Maxwell.

*

If he was that forgiving then his first Secretary would have still been around.

Maxwell hates negligence, forgiveness wasn't his quirk. He reckons discipline and epitome.

*

He counted his steps through the door with Jude behind him followed by his secretary. They took the private elevator that was meant for the president only and reached his limited edition car. The guard unlocked the exit of the passenger side for him.

*

Emma was finding it difficult to take a notch, she just wished to work for a big company, and Kings group wasn't an exception but not as Secretary to the mysterious tycoon. She feels bizarre around him. Especially when he looks at her with his Casanova's eyes.

*

She heard the driver clear his throat and cut short her though. She hunched at the driver's angle, before that she caught a glimpse of him staring at her. Gush! am I going to survive, here? she thought and made herself comfortable in her seat.

*

Meanwhile, Maxwell's sight occurred to be stock to the girl's figure. His eyes were glued to her long ponytail black hair, which was no doubt silky, and her revealing thin neck.

*

He had no idea of what was happening to him, he merely saw this girl, not more than twelve hours, and her presence was affecting him this much.

*

What is gonna happen these days? she's his Secretary which means they are mostly going to be together.

The journey was a quiet one except that Maxwell never quit staring. And the lousy assistance wasn't with them.

*

The car came to a halt in front of the Novella hotel. The most luxurious motel in the city, it hosts only billionaires because normal people can't afford it. Emma couldn't stop herself, from admiring the place. She stared with a smile, the place was extraordinary. In fact what could be more satisfactory than walking beside the most handsome tycoon in the country with three handsome guards behind.

*

Emma didn't miss the disgusting glare that people were throwing in her direction. She only swiveled her eyes and continue walking.

*

All attention veered at the beautiful man strolling elegantly in the hell way. Even those seated with their sweetheart ignored their partners the minute, Maxwell's face came to sight. I didn't know you're such a lover boy, Emma chuckled.

Maxwell on the point was indifferent as usual.*

*

"Welcome, Mr. King" Mr. Frimpong raised on his feet reaching a hand towards him, as expected, the ruthless man settled on his seat ignoring the man.

Mr. Frimpong was a man in his late twenties, a little older than Maxwell. David Frimpong existed as the only heir to his family business and a lothario.

*

The Frimpong family was into hotel management while the Kings were into jewelry making, construction, and other artifacts.

Maxwell noticed how he was glaring at Emma, for the first time in records, he got annoyed with someone because of a woman.
