Sera twisted in front of her mirror, her red curls bouncing with each twist. “If I get hotter with this beauty, the moon goddess might descend to claim me herself hahahaha.” she expressed loudly.
“Come on Ivy” Sera’s voice rang out, full of fun moments as she twisted in front of me, her Peach short dress shaking with each twist, and her glowing curly hair bounced.
“Are you going to stand there looking like sacred meat who is about to be dead?”I gave her a half smile. “You know I don't like crowds.” Sitting on the edge of her bed, still undecided, still holding the same plain white dress I had pulled from my wardrobe.
“You don't like anything that involves joy Ivy.” she teased, now sitting and hanging her legs on my shoulders. “Besides, it's not just a party. It’s the Moon Ceremony, maybe this is the year you meet someone who will….”
“Don’t say it,” I cut in quickly. “No, don’t say that word. “Well, I don't think I should go,” I muttered for the fifth time.
Sera rolled her eyes dramatically, while mimicking my words, “Ivy, you're coming. Your mum is not going to notice, all you have to do is to blend me, you can't just miss that ceremony all because your mother told you not to go.”
“I’m serious, Sera” I whispered, lowering my eyes to the lace of the white dress on my lap. “Something doesn't feel right. I woke up with the dream again, same man, same forest burning around me.”
Sera looks calm and relaxed, she leaned forward, her voice softer now “Do You think it’s magic?” I didn't answer.
I had spend all my years pretending to be normal, suppressing everything about myself that didn't fit. But lately, my mother’s behaviors has changed, the way she watched the moon like it was cursed. The way she avoided saying the word “Hybrid.” Ever since I turned twenty, something have started to shift, I could feel it in my dreams and bones.
“Ivy…” Sera’s voice brought me back. “ What if the dreams means something or you're meant to go tonight.” She snapped. I looked up sharply. “You mean I should disobey my mother after she has actually warned and begged me not to attend the party?” “No, fate might not wait for permission you know…” Her voice was firm now.
I stared at her, the excitement hidden behind her eyes. To her, this was an important moments of this year. The moon Ceremony wasn't just a party though. It was the night more people come for powers, connect and honor mates. It was mainly meant for wolves to find their true mates. But for me, it was a night I would never tell anyone I attended.
“I shouldn't go.” I muttered, trying to convince myself. “Okay,” she said, standing up. “Then stay here and be the mysterious boring girl worldever, I’ll just go alone and probably meet someone as cute as snow and as the voice of a fallen angel durrr.”
“A fallen angel?” I raised a brow”
“Oh yeah,” she smirked. “Anyway, a regular anger sounds too boring for me.” I twisted my leg and just like that the tension loosen a little bit. Sera reached down and grabbed the white dress from my lap, throwing it at me. “ Put this on. You're coming with me, if your mother ask, we will both say you were with my aunty baking pies.”
“Do you think she will believe that?” I asked, giving her a questioning look. “No, but at least we will have fun before you're locked up forever.”
I stood slowly, my heart pounding in my chest. Something inside me stirred. Not fear, not joy but I was anticipating what is about to come.

Later that night, The ceremony was already alive when we arrived there. Everywhere was glowing and sparking with colors and shinny stars, the moonlight casted a blow over the crowd. Lanters were hung from trees to trees, each flames was dancing with the wind. Soft musics was playing at the background.
My dress clung to my skin, the silky white lace almost glowing under the moonlight. Sera looked like summer goddess beside me, her Peach dress was bugging her curves perfectly as she walked majestically.
“Do I look hot ?” she asked, swaying her lips dramatically. “Hot,” I replied flatly.
She winked. “That’s what I thought.”
We wandered among the crowd, passing familiar faces, strangers, and couples too wrapped up each other without noticing anyone else. I tried to stay in the background, but Sera as usual had other plans. The music played gently from drums and flutes. Wolves danced, some already paired off, their bonds recognized with cheers, Sera was not left out, she was already pairing with a guy…feels weird. And yet, I stood there, looking dumbfounded.
“Hey,” Sera said loudly, walking towards me, noticing my face. “You okay?” “I…” I stopped, something was wrong. I felt hot, too hot. Like the air around was getting thick and turning to flames. My breath was slower this time, my heart was beating fast.
“I need to step out,” I muttered, forcing a small smile. “I’ll probably just get some air outside, please don't follow me.” I snapped. Sera insists on following me but I declined. “ Alright,I’ll be waiting Ivy.” She nodded.
I turned and slipped through the crowd, heart pounding fast. As I stepped into the quiet hallway that lead towards the West of the Council House, I swallowed my breath. The silence at the hallway wrapped around me like a cold cloth. I leaned against the wall.
“What’s wrong with me?” I whispered, pressing my palm to my chest. Then, I heard some whispers at the edge. A woman’s voice or maybe a Man. I shook my head trying to stay still, One step at a time. And then, I collide with someone very hard.
“Ouch!” I stumbled back, blinking my eyes. A strong arm caught me before I could fall, his scent hit me first, then I looked up, the dark eyes, sharp, cold and piercing. The man standing in front of me was tall, dressed in White fabric that hugged his broad shoulders, he was looking furious but he didn't talk right away.
He was stunning, not in a romantic way, not at first. He was seducing, his eyes were calling my names, his lips was everything, looking dangerous and weird. For a second, he was confused just as me.
“I…I’m sorry,” I stammered. He didn't let go of my arm immediately, them he left it suddenly, his grip loosened. “You should watch where you’re going.” he said finally, but his tone wasn't harsh, just distracted. I nodded quickly, my eyes locked in his. “ I didn't mean to..,”
Why did it feel like my chest has just cracked open?
The forest was a graveyard of smoke and broken branches, every breath thick with the taste of ash. The witch-forged wolf was on us again, its howl rattling the trees, a sound that didn’t belong to any living thing. The ground trembled with each of its steps, the air burning from the residue of its magic.“Move!” I barked, hauling Ivy to her feet. Her legs barely worked, but she still tried to keep up, her hand pressed against the glowing wound on her arm where silver had grazed her.Asher and Gemma took the front, cutting through the undergrowth with their blades. Kara half-carried Rowan behind me; his skin had turned pale gray, lips blue from poison. Every few seconds, he made a sound like a half-swallowed growl.“It’s close!” Asher shouted.I didn’t need to look back to know that. The ground vibrated, leaves scattering as something massive leapt through the trees. The beast landed just behind us, its body rippling with molten veins of light, fur black as midnight smoke.I turne
“Get her up,” I rasped, blood dripping from my side as the sound of battle grew louder outside the fortress. “We’re leaving now.”Gemma moved first, tearing the last chain from Ivy’s ankle. Ivy tried to stand but her legs buckled. I caught her before she hit the ground, her body cold, her breathing shallow. “Easy,” I said quietly, pressing my hand to her cheek. “You’re safe now.” It was a lie, and we both knew it. Nothing about this place was safe.“Rowan’s on the outer line,” Asher called from the doorway, voice tight. “He’s buying us time, but there’s too much.”I could already smell his blood. My jaw locked. “We go now,” I said. “Gemma, Kara, clear the east corridor.”Kara moved without hesitation, her blade flashing as she cut down the first guard that turned the corner. She didn’t even flinch when blood splattered her face. For once, Gemma didn’t say a word against her; she just followed, cutting a path beside her.I shifted Ivy’s weight against me. “Hold on to me,” I told her.
The second I saw her chained on that altar, something inside me snapped.“Ivy,” I growled, every muscle straining against the need to shift fully. My claws tore grooves into the stone floor. She was pale, her lips split, her wrist half-free but bleeding, runes still burning into her skin.Kyle stepped in front of her like a shield he didn’t deserve. His dagger gleamed with her blood, and his smug face made my wolf want to rip through him. “You’re too late,” he spat. “The ritual has begun.”I didn’t answer. My body moved before my mind did. One second there was distance, the next my fist smashed into his jaw with a crack that echoed off the chamber walls. He stumbled but didn’t fall.“You think you can lead,” Kyle snarled, wiping blood from his mouth. His eyes gleamed with challenge. “But you’re nothing but a slave to a hybrid’s scent.”My wolf roared inside me. I slammed him into the altar’s edge, claws digging into his throat. “Say her name again,” I hissed. “I’ll end you here.”The
“Hold her still,” Kyle snapped, his voice like iron scraping against stone. Two guards pressed down on my shoulders, their claws biting through my tunic as they forced me against the cold slab of the altar. Silver chains glowed across my wrists and ankles, the runes carved into them searing hot against my skin. I gritted my teeth, choking back the scream. I would not give him the satisfaction.Kyle leaned over me, his eyes sharp, his hand gripping a dagger coated in some black resin that stank of rot. “Do you feel that?” he asked softly, almost kindly, dragging the blade’s tip along my collarbone. “That is the edge of destiny. You’ve been caged long enough. Tonight, you’ll bleed, and the city will finally be free of your poison.”I forced a laugh, my voice hoarse but steady. “Funny. You sound afraid of someone pretending to be in control.”His jaw twitched, the mask cracking just slightly. He pressed harder with the blade until blood welled up, trickling down my chest. “Keep talkin
“Stay down,” I hissed at Asher, my voice low but sharp as a blade. My arms trembled against the pull of the snare, its runes biting deep into my skin like acid. Every breath came ragged, every heartbeat felt like it was spilling straight into the circle.“Rowan, don’t..” Asher started, panic in his voice.“Quiet.” My teeth clenched. “One wrong step and this thing will shred you too.”The snare pulsed again, a cruel rhythm that ate at my veins. Blood hissed against the glowing lines, sizzling as if it were fuel. It was. I knew enough witchcraft to recognize what Kyle had laid down, not just a trap, but a feeder rune. My blood was powering it.Gemma crouched low, her blade flashing as she tried to cut the lines. Sparks leapt back, burning her hand. She swore under her breath.“Damon’s coming,” she said, eyes darting toward the gate. “But if you keep bleeding into this, by the time he gets here.”“I’ll be a corpse. I know.” My lips curved into a bitter smile. “Good thing I’m used to da
The night was too quiet. Not the kind of quiet that came before peace, but the kind that made every hair on my body rise. My wolf was pacing, restless, snarling inside my skin. Ivy’s bond pulsed faint and ragged in the back of my mind, alive, but hurting. Every beat reminded me that Kyle still had her, that every breath I took without her was borrowed time.Rowan crouched beside me, amber eyes fixed on the fortress walls ahead. Torches burned in even intervals, guards patrolling the ramparts in rigid formation. The stone was reinforced with wards, faint lines of silver and ash glowing across its surface. It was a cage masquerading as a fortress.“They’ve doubled their numbers,” Rowan whispered. His voice carried the weight of exhaustion, but he didn’t waver. “Kyle’s expecting us.”“Let him expect,” I growled. “We’re still getting her out.”Behind us, warriors shifted restlessly, nearly a hundred strong. Wolves from Crescent, strays who’d pledged loyalty when Kyle’s corruption came
