Chapter 5

Author: Anonymous
"You've completely lost your mind!" Victoria screamed at me, furious as she lunged forward, trying to headbutt me.

She yelled, "Patrick is still your husband! Do you think you'll have an easy life if he gets in trouble? Besides, you're alive and well now. What's the big deal with letting us be together? It's not like you're dying!"

On the other end, Thomas spoke up nervously, his voice shaking, "What are you two talking about?"

Victoria suddenly realized she had said too much and shut her mouth immediately, though she kept struggling violently. Unexpectedly, she managed to hit me hard, knocking me sideways and causing me to disconnect the call accidentally.

After confirming that my phone had gone silent, she looked at me smugly while breathing heavily. "Let's see how you'll talk your way out of this now."

A few moments later, hurried footsteps echoed down the hall, followed by Patrick anxiously shouting Victoria's name. Victoria's lips curled upward as she dramatically broke free

The doctors and nurses scrambled to get Victoria out of the room for treatment. Before Patrick could say another word, Thomas walked briskly through the door, holding a fruit basket in one hand. When Patrick saw Thomas, he immediately tried to get off his knees in panic, but Thomas firmly pressed him back down.He growled, "Stay right there! A man like you, who hides the truth to be with his mistress, deserves to beg for forgiveness forever!"Thomas then turned toward me with a gentle smile. "Ms. Spencer, I heard everything about your situation. I didn't want to interrupt earlier when you were arguing, but I overheard the whole thing. I know how badly you've been wronged, and I promise I'll make things right for you."Divorces can be tough these days, but I'll make sure yours goes smoothly. As for him, he's officially fired from the rescue squad as of today!"I nodded, satisfied with the result.Patrick quickly raised his head, desperately clutching onto Thomas's sleeve. "Please,

Patrick was so enraged by my words that he even forgot to comfort Victoria. He shouted angrily, "Fine, let Mr. Webb come then! Let him hear all the horrible things you've done, you vile woman!"If you hadn't sent Melanie to seduce Vicky's ex-husband, would she have ended up being kicked out of her home? Did you really think I didn't know about that? I have proof!"After he said that, he pulled out his phone and shoved the chat history in my face. It showed conversations between me and Melanie Smith a month before Victoria returned from abroad. The chat detailed how I had instructed her on seducing men, buying them gifts, and how to handle their wives. The entire scenario was complete—even photos were included. However, I recognized that plan immediately. After all, Victoria had used it to seduce Patrick when she returned. At that exact time, I was busy caring for Patrick's mother in the hospital as she was dying.Disgusted, I tossed the phone back to him without reading further.

Patrick shouted angrily, "You've all been tricked by Esme! She's always been great at twisting the truth, and now she's using this fragile act to manipulate you. How shameless!"Either way, I'm about to become a rescue squad captain. Once I do, I'll remember all of you who tried to sabotage me. Trust me—you'll regret it!"Without hesitation, I forced myself upright and slapped Patrick across the face in front of everyone, then fell back onto the bed, breathing heavily.I growled, "If someone like you becomes captain, it'll be a tragedy for everyone! Unfortunately for you, even though you wish for my death, I'm still here. I've already told your supervisor, Mr. Webb, everything."Victoria's face paled, and she hurriedly defended herself. "Rick, don't listen to her nonsense! She's just trying to scare us. Remember how obsessed she was with you? Now, she's using threats to force you into staying with her. Don't fall for it!"Besides, she's never managed to get pregnant all these year

  • Drowning in Regret   Chapter 4

Victoria walked into my hospital room dressed head-to-toe in luxury, her face glowing with health. After glancing at my pale, exhausted appearance, she laughed softly and sat at the edge of my bed.She sneered and said, "Wow, you're really still alive. You must have nine lives."The overwhelming scent of her perfume made me nauseous, and I instinctively shifted farther away. "What are you doing here? Where's Patrick?"Victoria gently placed her purse on my bedside table, flicked her hair back, and smiled mockingly. "Oh, he's busy decorating a nursery for me and learning to cook healthy meals. You know how overly cautious new fathers can be."My eyes drifted down to her slightly rounded belly, and suddenly, everything became clear. Of course, it was Patrick's baby.I did not even look at her again and replied coldly, "Then you better take good care of yourself. Wouldn't want the kid to drown as soon as it's born.""Esme!" Victoria snapped.Frustrated by my lack of jealousy or gri

  • Drowning in Regret   Chapter 3

In a haze, flashes of memories with Patrick began to resurface. We got married because of an unexpected incident. While our marriage was not exactly sweet, he treated me well and was always willing to compromise, at least initially. That all changed the day Victoria suddenly showed up at our front door. She stood there with a radiant smile, casually greeting Patrick as if I did not even exist. Without warning, she walked straight in and wrapped her arms around him.I was completely thrown off because I did not know who she was. I shot up from the couch, yanked her away, and shouted, demanding to know why she was trespassing and clinging to my husband.Patrick's face instantly darkened. He stood up and scolded me in front of her, yelling that I should stop spouting nonsense—and that if I kept going, he would not hesitate to file for divorce. His sudden change in attitude scared me. I cried, begging him to explain how he could stand there and let a stranger break into our home and h

My body trembled as memories of the past rushed over me. Victoria noticed it and gave me a once-over from head to toe.She sneered, "It's just a flood, and it hasn't even fully hit yet. Yet, you're already shaking all over? I honestly don't know what Rick ever saw in you."I did not say a word. Instead, I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down.I had heard those kinds of remarks too many times to count. To everyone else, Patrick and I were a mismatch. After all, he had the looks and charm, and Victoria was the college belle, adored by everyone on campus.Meanwhile, I was ordinary. After graduation, Victoria dumped Patrick for some wealthy man, claiming his family was too average and broke for her tastes. After that, I had a crush on Patrick. Through a twist of fate, we somehow ended up married. As I thought about it, a sharp ache spread across my chest like tiny needles pricking at my heart. I could not help but think that Patrick had regretted marrying me the moment h

"Everyone, stay calm and listen to the rescue team's instructions. Board the boat in an orderly fashion!"The familiar voice snapped me awake, and I looked down and realized I was still alive. I thought God must have taken pity on me because I had somehow been given a second chance at life.In a daze, I noticed a hand clinging tightly to mine. My instinct kicked in, and I struggled, only to meet the gaze of my husband's first love, Victoria Clarke.Victoria glared at me, her voice sharp with entitlement as she said, "I'm pregnant. If there's only one spot left on the boat, you're letting me go first."I laughed and rolled my eyes. "I'm stranded, too. Why should I give up my seat for you? Why the hell should your kid be my problem?"Victoria looked at me in disbelief, then began scolding me with a righteous tone. "If you hadn't insisted on going home to rest, I would've been rescued by now! You're so paranoid about me and Rick—news flash, nothing's going on! But thanks to you, ther
