The hospital room door closed, sealing out the noise from the corridor.

Robin had already paced back and forth in front of the bed five times before finally stopping. He stared at the unconscious woman lying there.

"Blood pressure normal. Heart rate stable. Pupils reacting well to light--"

He picked up the chart and lightly tapped the bed rail.

"Cecilia, this is practically a medical miracle. Three minutes ago you were in shock, and now you're already sneaking glances to see how many people are in the room."

In reality, Cecilia was very much awake.

In that chaos earlier, if she hadn't made it convincing enough, who would have believed she was the victim?

Society had always worked this way--whoever looked more fragile won more sympathy.

"All right, stop pretending." Vicky sat down by the bed and briskly threw back the blanket covering Cecilia.

Cecilia's eyelashes fluttered a few times before she slowly opened her eyes, first scanning the quiet room.

"Everyone's gone?"

"Nice acting." Vi

"Do you know why Robin was so determined to study medicine?"Liam continued, every word landing like a nail driven into wood."It wasn't because of the family's healthcare business. It was because after my mother died, he swore he would understand those illnesses that never showed a cause. And Murphy--why did he claw his way upward with everything he had? Not because he craved power. He saw it early on: only by holding enough power could he tear you out by the roots, you venomous snake.""You're lying..." Harriet jerked her head up, her eyes red and brimming with tears. "Back then, I was just an ordinary woman. Meeting the general was pure coincidence. I know you all hate me--but why fabricate something this monstrous?""Yes, you were ordinary," Liam said as he stood, looking down at her from above. "Ordinary enough to repeatedly swap out my mother's medication. Ordinary enough to collude with Chapman and drive her into a dead end--then step neatly into her place."He turned his head

  • Dumped Her Ex, Married A Secret Billionaire   The Witness from the Shadows

Chapman's expression shifted, but his military instincts kicked in, and he straightened his back at once."Videos can be fabricated," he said coolly. "And what can a few blurry photos really prove?""Fair point." Liam nodded thoughtfully. "Since Harriet firmly denies any involvement in this case--"He lifted his gaze toward Griffith.Griffith rose to his feet. "The defense requests to call a key witness."Harriet's fingers dug hard into the armrest, her knuckles turning white. She suddenly turned toward Ferdinand, her eyes instantly reddening, her voice breaking with sobs."Ferdinand... even you don't believe me?"Ferdinand closed his eyes. In that moment, he seemed to have aged ten years. He had underestimated his son's meticulous planning--and even more so, the woman who had shared his bed for over twenty years."I didn't do anything!" Harriet's voice grew sharp, tears sliding down her face. "This was all Liam's setup! He's hated me from the very beginning--""Enough."Ferdinand rai

Harriet took a deep breath, forcing down the flash of panic that flickered in her eyes. She stood up, spine straight, her voice deliberately steady--though a faint tremor still slipped through."I know you hate me, Liam," she said evenly. "But piling these baseless accusations onto me is absurd."She countered him point by point, as if reclaiming control of the courtroom."First, it was you who injured Bruno. The evidence is conclusive. Second, it's the Wilson family pressing charges--not me. Third, the crisis at DV Group is the result of your own mismanagement. As for your mother--"She paused, a cold smile tugging at her lips."She died the year before I ever set foot in your family. A woman who had nothing to do with me--on what grounds do you pin her death on me?"In the gallery, Ferdinand stared at his son in disbelief, his voice dry and trembling."Liam... what are you even talking about?"Liam didn't look at him. His gaze remained locked on Harriet, calm as if stating an establ

  • Dumped Her Ex, Married A Secret Billionaire   The Unmasking

"Judging from the defendant's series of actions," Griffith said, turning toward the defense table, his voice edged with ice, "the intent to orchestrate a scapegoat and manipulate witnesses is unmistakable. So now, as the center of it all--"He paused, his gaze cutting toward Liam like a blade."Liam Sinclair, at this point, do you still insist on claiming you're innocent?"The weight of the entire courtroom seemed to press down on the lone figure seated at the defense table.Liam slowly lowered his head. Loose strands of hair fell across his forehead, shadowing his eyes. His hands, resting on his knees, curled silently into fists, knuckles whitening with tension. From his still silhouette, no one could read an answer. In the gallery, Cecilia clutched the fabric of her coat tightly. Her heart felt as if it were being squeezed by icy pincers. She wanted to shout, to stand up--but her throat felt sealed shut, even breathing turning sharp and painful. At the far end of the Sinclair family

Griffith's gaze sharpened."Then what evidence does the defense have?"Caesar turned slightly and gestured toward the young man who had just entered the courtroom."This is Alexis. His father, Fion, was once my client's personal driver. One month ago, due to an operational error that caused my client to suffer a serious car accident and severe injuries, Fion was dismissed."A low murmur rippled through the gallery.Even Liam, who had been sitting with his eyes closed until now, slowly opened them. A faint crease flickered between his brows."Objection!" Griffith rose immediately. "The defense is introducing irrelevant background information to mislead the jury."The judge struck the gavel."Objection sustained. Defense counsel, please confine your statements to the facts of this case."Caesar's expression did not change, as if he had anticipated this."After his father's dismissal, Alexis repeatedly sought compensation and was denied. Harboring resentment, on the morning of the eighte

  • Dumped Her Ex, Married A Secret Billionaire    The Trial Begins

The courtroom scheduled for live broadcast that day was the largest public trial chamber in the federal courthouse, capable of seating nearly five hundred people.Today, this hall--rarely used under normal circumstances--was filled to capacity. The air felt heavy, thick with unspoken tension.Only when the judge entered did the magnesium flashes from the press gallery briefly die down. The entire courtroom sank into a suffocating silence. Then the defendant appeared.Liam Sinclair. In an instant, flashes exploded like a torrential storm. The rapid-fire clicks of cameras drowned out nearly every other sound.Liam remained perfectly composed. He wore a tailored dark suit, his expression calm and refined, showing not the slightest trace of fatigue--as if the trial unfolding before him had nothing to do with his life or fate.He sat quietly at the defense table, eyes closed, posture straight as a pine. Behind him was an imposing advisory team--more than a dozen consultants seated in preci
