The atmosphere in the office gradually returned to normal as everyone went back to work.

Cecilia sat in her chair with nothing on her desk--no files, no documents. It looked as if she were just there to pass the time.

"So... am I supposed to be doing something?" she asked the woman working across from her.

The woman glanced up with a polite smile. "No, you can just relax. If you get bored, you can play some games."

Cecilia shot to her feet.

The sudden movement startled everyone; hands froze mid-typing, pens stopped mid-stroke.

Without a word, she strode out of the office and headed straight into Liam's office without knocking.

Liam was standing by the window on the phone. At the sound of the door, he looked back and then ended the call.

"You agreed to let me work here," Cecilia said, arms crossed as she glared at him. "So why are they telling me to just sit there and do nothing?"

Liam only smiled and brushed a stray lock of hair from her forehead.

Cecilia swatted his hand away. "I tak

  • Dumped Her Ex, Married A Secret Billionaire    The Trial Begins

The courtroom scheduled for live broadcast that day was the largest public trial chamber in the federal courthouse, capable of seating nearly five hundred people.Today, this hall--rarely used under normal circumstances--was filled to capacity. The air felt heavy, thick with unspoken tension.Only when the judge entered did the magnesium flashes from the press gallery briefly die down. The entire courtroom sank into a suffocating silence. Then the defendant appeared.Liam Sinclair. In an instant, flashes exploded like a torrential storm. The rapid-fire clicks of cameras drowned out nearly every other sound.Liam remained perfectly composed. He wore a tailored dark suit, his expression calm and refined, showing not the slightest trace of fatigue--as if the trial unfolding before him had nothing to do with his life or fate.He sat quietly at the defense table, eyes closed, posture straight as a pine. Behind him was an imposing advisory team--more than a dozen consultants seated in preci

Sinclair Estate, study. The servants withdrew in silence, the door closing softly behind them.On the black leather sofa, Ferdinand and Eliot sat facing each other.Ferdinand poured himself a glass of water and watched the ripples settle."I never imagined... it would come to this.""I understand." Eliot leaned back in his chair and let out a long sigh. "My son made mistakes back then too. But this situation... is there really no room to turn things around?""You've seen the public pressure. It's all on us." Ferdinand set the glass down. "The trial will be livestreamed in three days. Even if I wanted the judge to lean our way, no one would dare bend the law under the cameras. So... unless there's absolutely no alternative, I won't take that step.""If that's your decision, I'll do what I can to shape public opinion," Eliot said, taking a sip of tea. After a pause, he added quietly, "But don't you think... the whole thing feels off?""It does." Ferdinand frowned deeply. "But when I thi

The hospital corridor reeked of disinfectant.Duncan stood rigidly in front of the ICU doors like a statue, completely blocking the path inside.Harriet stepped forward, her tone gentle and composed."Sir, we're only here to see Bruno. Even if you don't want to see me, surely you won't stop Rebecca from visiting him."Duncan's eyes remained half-closed, as if in meditation. He ignored the people in front of him entirely.Rebecca's body trembled. She pushed past the bodyguards and moved toward Duncan step by step."Bruno wouldn't want to see you," Duncan finally said, his voice frozen solid."Sir, I'll just take one look at him. Just one..." Before Rebecca could finish, she dropped heavily to her knees. Her fingers clutched Duncan's pant leg, her knuckles turning white."Please..."Duncan turned his face away. His sigh was barely audible."This isn't your fault. But you're a Sinclair. That's why I can't allow it.""But I'm his wife!""No, you're not." Duncan pulled his clothes free wit

The hospital room door closed, sealing out the noise from the corridor.Robin had already paced back and forth in front of the bed five times before finally stopping. He stared at the unconscious woman lying there."Blood pressure normal. Heart rate stable. Pupils reacting well to light--"He picked up the chart and lightly tapped the bed rail."Cecilia, this is practically a medical miracle. Three minutes ago you were in shock, and now you're already sneaking glances to see how many people are in the room."In reality, Cecilia was very much awake. In that chaos earlier, if she hadn't made it convincing enough, who would have believed she was the victim?Society had always worked this way--whoever looked more fragile won more sympathy."All right, stop pretending." Vicky sat down by the bed and briskly threw back the blanket covering Cecilia.Cecilia's eyelashes fluttered a few times before she slowly opened her eyes, first scanning the quiet room."Everyone's gone?""Nice acting." • Dumped Her Ex, Married A Secret Billionaire   A Public Reckoning

No one knew who had leaked the news, but the usually quiet hospital corridor had turned into a hornet's nest overnight. The moment Cecilia stepped out of Robin's office, flashes exploded from every direction. The glare was so harsh that she instinctively narrowed her eyes. The reporters surged forward like sharks catching the scent of blood.More than a dozen microphones were thrust toward her face, overlapping questions blending into an unbearable roar."Cecilia! What's your response to the latest developments in Bruno's car accident?""Are you putting pressure on the police?"Cecilia stepped back half a pace, one hand instinctively protecting her abdomen as her back hit the cold elevator doors. She raised her voice over the chaos."This is a hospital. Keep your voices down!"A male reporter wearing black-rimmed glasses shoved his way to the front."Cecilia, the surveillance footage shows that Liam's car never slowed down before the collision. How do you explain that?""The police ha

When the doors of the operating room finally slid open, Murphy nearly sprang out of his chair. After holding the same position for seven hours straight, his knees cracked softly as he stood. His entire right leg had gone numb, sensation completely gone.Robin pulled off his surgical mask. Dark shadows lay heavy beneath his eyes.He sat down beside Murphy, his voice hoarse from the prolonged operation."The bullet's out. It didn't hit any vital organs. But she lost a lot of blood. She'll need forty-eight hours of observation in the ICU."Murphy slowly sank back into the chair, his fingers digging deep into his hair. He hunched forward, drained of all strength."It was my fault... I knew that time window wasn't safe...""They planned it precisely," Robin said, patting his rigid shoulder. "They struck right after you left, during the guard shift change. They even mapped out the blind spots in the villa's surveillance. This wasn't impulsive--it was a carefully orchestrated ambush."From t
