Back at the apartment, Cecilia turned on the TV.

The news had been covering MT Group, but after a brief freeze, the broadcast shifted to a police bulletin about a wanted vehicle.

Liam hadn't planned to pay attention. But the moment he heard the announcement, he glanced over casually--and then his expression tightened.

The surveillance footage released by the police didn't show the occupants clearly, but that car...

Cecilia steadied herself and looked back as well.

Their eyes met.

Liam set down his glass and strode over. "Don't look at it. It's already happened. There's no undoing it."

He didn't hesitate to switch off the TV.

Cecilia grabbed his hand carefully. "You don't think that car looks familiar?"

Liam dodged the point. "There are tons of cars with that model on the road. What exactly are you focusing on?"

Cecilia hesitated, then asked again, "You really don't remember?"

Liam tapped her forehead lightly. "What are you imagining now? Are you just shaken by Giles' sudden death?"

Cecilia froze. A name flashed through her mind almost instantly.Hesitantly--almost soundlessly, shaping the word with her lips--she said, "Harriet...?""Even you can see it," Murphy replied, his brow tightening almost imperceptibly. "So the person directly involved understands it even better. Right now, though, she needs time--and she needs proof."He stepped back in front of Cecilia and continued his analysis, his tone grave."Liam's situation is simple in one sense, and extremely difficult in another. Simple because the core issue is proving that the crucial surveillance footage was fabricated. Difficult because...whoever did this is highly skilled. They stitched together footage from different times, different locations--possibly even involving different people--aligning the timeline, lighting, and vehicle movement so seamlessly that it looks completely real. Finding a flaw will take time, and it will take serious technical expertise."Cecilia lowered her head, her hands clenched

Ferdinand looked down at the woman kneeling at his feet, sobbing uncontrollably, then thought of his son and daughter, both caught in a storm of trouble. His brows knitted into a deep frown.Exhausted, he waved his hand. "Get up. Speak properly.""I won't get up unless you agree!" Harriet insisted, still kneeling. She lifted her tear-streaked face, her eyes red and swollen."What I'm asking for--justice--you can give me. And I believe in Liam's character. He would never do something so deranged. That's exactly why I'm begging you--don't let this be buried under power and influence. Let Prescott investigate it thoroughly. Let the truth come out! That would be doing right by Liam's innocence, and it would also be an answer to Rebecca and to Bruno!"Ferdinand closed his eyes, torn in two.On one side was a son suspected of a serious crime. On the other, a daughter who might be shattered all over again. Both were his children. Any rash decision could leave wounds that would never heal."I

"Sir,"Liam stepped half a pace forward. His tone was sincere, weighted to the point of gravity."I was indeed in that area yesterday. But I swear on my family's honor--I had no reason to harm Bruno, let alone flee the scene after hitting someone. If I did it, I would never evade responsibility. If I didn't, then even if so-called evidence is placed right in front of me, I will not accept this stain on my name. Does what you see always equal the truth? In this day and age, there are far too many things that can be fabricated, manipulated. A video does not necessarily represent reality.""But every piece of the evidence chain currently points directly to you!"A loud, cold voice--steeped in unquestionable authority--cut sharply into the exchange from the far end of the corridor.Another group of uniformed officers approached at a brisk pace.Leading them was a man in his early fifties, stern-faced, with insignia that clearly marked him as a higher rank. Their arrival plunged the alread

Liam collapsed back into his chair, his spine slamming against the hard backrest. The dull pain barely registered--less than a fraction of what was tearing through his chest. He lifted his head. His eyes were a hollow, chaotic void."What...are you talking about?""Evidence!" Llywelyn jabbed a finger at the closed laptop, his hand trembling with rage. "Time, location, vehicle model--your car! It's all crystal clear! What exactly are you still trying to deny?!""Sid!" Liam suddenly barked, his voice rough and hoarse, tightly restrained.Sid, who had been waiting outside the door, immediately pushed it open and stepped in, his expression just as grave. "Sir.""Investigate," Liam said. Just one word--but it landed like a hammer. The emptiness in his eyes froze instantly into ice.A terrifying storm gathered beneath the surface as he spoke, each sentence sharp and decisive."Use every resource we have. I want a complete timeline of that car after it left the SCA garage last night. I want

At the North District Police Department, inside an otherwise ordinary interrogation room, the air was stretched tight, like a bow drawn to its limit.Llywelyn sat across the table, personally taking notes. His brow was deeply furrowed, the pen between his fingers motionless for a long time. The entire station was unusually quiet that day.Even footsteps in the corridor had been deliberately softened. Everyone knew exactly what kind of figure Llywelyn had arrested this time.Llywelyn's temper and principles were well known throughout the system. If the evidence was solid, he would put the cuffs on without hesitation--no matter who came to plead for mercy. But that same unbending spine had made his career anything but smooth. No matter how capable he was, he had been stuck in a deputy position at a district station for years, with no hope of promotion. On the other side of the table, Liam sat upright, his back straight, hands naturally folded on his knees. From the moment he'd entered t

That evening, in the front courtyard of the Rupert estate, a car came to a smooth stop.Liam opened the door and stepped out, the cool night air brushing away the lingering glitter of the banquet.Only a faint trace of alcohol remained, clinging lightly to his collar and cuffs.Inside the living room, only a single warm wall lamp was left on. Cecilia was curled up on the sofa, a hardcover book resting open on her knees, her fingers paused on one page.Hearing the familiar footsteps, she lifted her head and watched him walk into the pool of light."The banquet's over?" she asked softly."Mm." Liam loosened his tie with one hand, the silk sliding between his fingers. He walked over to her, bent down, and pressed a gentle kiss--cool with night air, faintly scented with wine--against her smooth forehead."I had a bit to drink. I probably smell like alcohol. I'll go take a shower."Cecilia took the suit jacket he handed her, her fingertips brushing the cool lining."I told you not to drink
