LOGIN“Isn’t this too much?” Ava asked, looking down at her body.
Night had fallen, and she was clad in a black halter-neck one-piece swimsuit. It had cross-cut-outs at the front, giving her a sultry look.
A gold chain adorned her slim waist, dangling down to rest on her right thigh. Gold embellished heels sparkled on her feet, completing her elegant, yet seductive appearance. Her dark-brown hair was slicked back, making her look like she had just stepped out of the pool.
Her face was bare, her lips glistening with a gentle touch of pink lip gloss.
“How is it too much? You look sexy. Show Rick the dick what he lost,” Nicole, who was dressed in a two-piece red bikini with no care in the world, remarked. She styled her blonde hair into a high ponytail, finishing her look with transparent heels.
“It’s too revealing…”
“Shhhh… I know you’re a nerd and reserved, bestie. But we are on a mission here,” Nicole said, holding Ava’s shoulders while looking into her eyes.
They were in her room at the Anderson mansion, getting ready for the pool party that started an hour ago.
“What mission?” Ava asked, her eyebrow arching.
What was her troublesome best friend up to now?
Nicole smirked, a mischievous look flitting through her eyes.
“Remember how Richard is obsessed with wanting to get into the Kingsley Group? He doesn’t even give other companies a try because his dream job is joining the Kingsley Group’s IT team. The CEO of the Kingsley Group, Kylan Kingsley, is here… and guess what? He’s my brother’s best friend.”
Ava furrowed her brows. “What has that got to do with me?”
“Since Richard wants to get into the Kingsley Group so much, how about you get ahead of him and block all of his attempts?”
“And how will I do that?”
“Girl…" Nicole rolled her eyes. "You will seduce Kylan Kingsley, of course. Once he’s wrapped around your finger, you get him to blacklist Richard. Once Richard finds out you’re with Kylan, he’s going to get angry that you were able to get close to Kylan Kingsley when he couldn’t.”
Ava’s mouth fell to the floor, her eyes growing wide to the size of saucers.
“Are you crazy? You want me to seduce the most powerful CEO to get back at my Ex? How exactly am I supposed to do that? I heard Kylan can be cold and ruthless, and he doesn’t tolerate women who throw themselves at him.”
Nicole smirked, giving her friend a once-over.
“That’s why you’re wearing a sexy swimsuit. If you manage to grab his attention, girl, your life will change.”
Ava sighed, shaking her head. Her best friend’s suggestion was ridiculous.
“Have you been reading those naughty manhwas again? This is real life… There's no way a powerful CEO will glance at a mere student like me. Besides, I’m twenty-one and he’s twenty-eight… he probably has women his age throwing themselves at him. There’s also been rumours of him being gay since he’s never been in any dating scandals… how do you expect me to seduce a man like him?”
Nicole walked towards her nightstand and took out a bottle of tequila before turning to Ava and raising the bottle.
“By borrowing courage from a few shots.”
“What? That’s a bad idea… you know I get drunk easily.”
“Don’t worry about it… I’ll make sure you don’t misbehave,” Nicole said as she poured them both shots. “You need to take more so that you’re not shy.”
Ava gulped, looking at the shot glass. Drinking while attending a pool party full of handsome guys was a bad idea, but…
She took the shot glass before clinking it with Nicole’s.
“Now that’s what I’m talking about! Let’s go and make some bad decisions!” Nicole yelled, raising her shot glass before taking the shot.
Ava shook her head before raising her glass and taking the shot in one go. She winced when it stung her throat, but she still reached for the bottle for another round.
'Here goes nothing.'
…
The backyard of the Anderson estate was buzzing with music, laughter filling the air as half-naked men and women splashed, danced and drank from red solo cups. A large pool at the center shimmered beneath the glow of fairy lights hanging from the trees in the garden nearby.
Ava’s mouth dropped as she stared in awe at the scene that looked like it had been plucked straight out of a hip-hop music video.
“Damn, it’s packed!” Nicole yelled in Ava’s ears since the music was too loud. “But it’s just what we needed. You’re turning heads, girl.”
Nicole gave her a little shove, and Ava stumbled forward, finding herself at the center of attention. Silence fell upon the place, save for the music playing in the background. Heads turned and whistles rippled through the crowd.
Ava forced a smile, her cheeks turning rosy at the attention.
“I don’t think this was a good idea…” she murmured, her head spinning from the shots she had taken.
“It is… look, you just walked in and already caught Kylan’s attention,” Nicole said, her voice laced with excitement.
“Where’s he?” Ava asked, looking around the area. She wanted to see what Kylan Kingsley looked like before making the decision to seduce him.
Nicole leaned in to whisper while slightly turning Ava’s head. “Over there… the couch near the bar. He’s seated next to my brother.”
Ava’s eyes fell on the couch, and her breath hitched when she locked eyes with the devilishly handsome man seated next to Liam Anderson across the pool.
‘So that’s Kylan Kingsley? Damn.’ She mused, biting her lower lip.
She’d heard of him, but this was the first time she was seeing him in person. And boy, the rumours didn’t do him justice.
They did say he was handsome, but not wet your panties at first sight kind of handsome.
For a moment, she was frozen in her stance as she stared at the perfection that is Kylan Kingsley.
His dark hair, which was cropped short at the sides and longer on top, was styled neatly, giving him a noble appearance. His face was nothing but perfection - perfectly shaped eyebrows, a sharp jaw that could cut glass, a neatly trimmed beard lining the sides of his face, giving him a dangerously manly look.
From where he was seated, his presence commanded the place, like the party was held in his honour.
This outstanding man had his stormy gray eyes locked on Ava’s, staring at her so intently that she felt the hairs at the back of her neck rise.
Her heart rate accelerated, but before she could process anything, a familiar voice cut through the music, making her heart sink to her stomach.
“Ava? What the hell are you doing here, and why are you dressed like a slut?”
Kylan and Ava stared into each other’s eyes like they were the only people in the world. “I love you,” Kylan whispered, and Ava smiled, her eyes gleaming with happiness. “And I love you too,” she replied. Ava had always imagined how her wedding would be when she was a little girl… but this was far from the wedding her little mind had imagined. The ocean breeze, the scent of flowers, the soft music, the glimmer of the sunlight… everything blended into something magical. She felt like a princess who was finally marrying her prince. The officiant proceeded with the wedding, saying a few words first. He talked about marriage and how important it was to keep the vows they would say to each other today. When it was time for vows, Kylan removed Ava’s veil. “I want to say my vows while I stare into your beautiful eyes. Need to make sure there's no substitute bride.” The guests chuckled. He smirked and continued, “Ava… from the moment I met you, I’ve always wanted to make you my wife,
Time flew faster than anyone expected. Before they knew it, a year had already passed. Ava’s graduation was a memorable ceremony. As expected, Ava emerged as the valedictorian. On that day, she had walked across the stage with pride. Her family was seated in the crowd, cheering happily for her. Kylan, Abner, Conrad, Killian, Quinn, and even Mia were seated in the crowd. Kylan was holding a large bouquet to give her after she gave her speech. When she stood before everyone, Ava was so overwhelmed. She recalled how she had gone through so many things before she got her happy ending, and surprisingly, when she recalled the past, she couldn’t even remember how the pain felt… they were all just distant memories, and soon, she knew she would forget about them. In her speech, she thanked her family and two friends for being there for her. She also spoke highly of her husband and how she was dedicating the degree she attained to him. Lastly, she ended the speech by encouraging the remaini
Time passed by in a quick bliss. The semester break was over, and as usual, Ava was the top student. However, just as they opened for the new semester, her best friend, Nicole, had a confession to make. “What?” Ava gasped. “You’re three months pregnant?” Nicole’s face turned red. “Yeah… shocking, right?” “Too shocking,” Ava said. “I didn’t even know you were dating.” “I wasn’t,” Nicole murmured. “I had a one-night stand. We didn’t use protection, and then, one thing led to another.” Ava was still shocked. She didn’t say anything for the next few seconds. “What? How? Why didn’t you tell me? I thought I told you not to keep secrets from me again.”Nicole looked guilty. “I didn’t know what to do… or how to say it. The man I did it with… my parents were against him. It was just because of this pregnancy that they accepted. They made us get married at the city hall.”Ava’s jaw dropped. “You got married?” She asked, her eyes wider than a saucer. “Wow… It’s bomb after bomb today. Now
Kylan wasn’t one to feel nervous easily. He had been planning this proposal for weeks now. One night, Ava almost caught him researching how to propose in a grand way. However, he didn’t like any of the options available. So he kept searching until he found the perfect spot where he would officially ask Ava to marry him. As he knelt on the ground, his heart kept racing, thundering like a violent drum. He knew they were already married, and that Ava was sure to say yes, but he couldn’t help feeling nervous. His stomach kept twisting and turning as he waited for her answer. He swallowed hard, looking up into her eyes. She looked so beautiful as the petals showered over her body. “Well, what do you say, my love?” He remarked. “Will you make this man happy by marrying me? I promise, I'll treat you well.” Ava looked down at the oval-shaped diamond. It was surrounded by tiny clusters of diamonds that looked like blooming petals. The band was white gold, and for sure, it suited her so
“KYLAN KINGSLEY!!” Luna said through gritted teeth. “How dare you insult me like this? Aren’t you afraid of what I will do to your company for treating me like this?”“And what is it that you’re threatening to do?” Kylan sneered. “Do you think I’m afraid of you? You’re so full of yourself, Miss Renford. What makes you think you can go against me?” “Well, I can. All I need to do is steal all your projects–”Kylan laughed. “Oh, really now? Do you still think you stole the bid?” Luna looked confused. “What are you–”Her phone rang, interrupting her question. “You might want to pick that up. Unless you’re still up for being set up with my Grandpa. His name is Killian, so it might sound familiar and make you feel like you got the one you wanted.” Luna glared at Kylan. She picked up the call, and then her face turned pale. “What did you say? We lost the bid?”When the call cut, Luna stared at Kylan. She asked, “How?”“How did I do it?” Kylan remarked. “I don’t think I should be tellin
“What?” Ava’s eyes rounded, and she felt her stomach twist with nerves. “Is that true? Doesn’t she know that you’re married?”“It seems she doesn’t care about that. That bitch…” Kylan said through gritted teeth. “The bid she stole was for valuable land that the Kingsley Group wants to use to venture into real estate. Once we build condominiums there, the revenue will be at least five billion dollars per month. Losing that bid means losing a chance to make so much money… she knew this and messed with me. She seems to want to feel my wrath.” “So, she wants you to divorce me for a business deal?” “Like that would ever happen,” Kylan stated. “I would rather die than sacrifice you for a business deal. If she wants it so much, let her keep it. It’s not like she has use for it anyway.” Ava’s heart swelled up with warmth– this feeling… it was so overwhelming. How could this man love her to this extent? She leaned in and pressed her lips to his. “I love you, Kylan. I love you so much.” Kyl
