The moment her lips touched Kylan’s, Ava froze, her heart racing erratically against her ribcage.
Alarm bells immediately went off in her head when it sank in. She was straddling the most powerful CEO in Bellmount City, and she just kissed him!
‘Oh my God… what am I going to do? What if he pushes me away?’ She screamed internally, her stomach knotting with nerves.
Her face flushed when Kylan didn't move. For a moment, he was frozen, his eyes staring intently at her, not expecting her to climb on top of him and kiss him.
Ava’s stomach churned, and she made to move away, ready to swallow her humiliation when Kylan cupped the back of her head before deepening the kiss.
Ava’s eyes flew open. Did the sun rise from the west? She didn’t expect this cold-hearted man to play along with her.
Her heart raced as his lips moved effortlessly against hers. His scent… his soft lips and whiskey-flavoured tongue made her feel like she was floating on clouds.
The kiss felt so good…
‘I can’t believe he’s kissing me,’ she mused, kissing him back with equal passion.
When the kiss ended, Ava turned her head to look at Richard. Sure enough, Richard was glaring at her from across the pool. However, he didn’t make a fuss about it. Probably because of who Kylan Kingsley was.
Ava smirked at Richard, enjoying the look on his face. He looked like a pressure cooker that was about to explode.
‘Saves you right, dickface,’ she said internally.
“I don’t appreciate you looking at another man just after kissing me.” A deep voice reached Ava’s ears, and she whipped her head around to glance at Kylan, a shiver shooting down her spine.
She didn’t expect his voice to be so deep, it almost made her wet her panties.
Her face flushed, her heart racing at the intensity of Kylan’s gaze.
She wanted to run away, however, she remembered what she had talked about with Nicole. If she could seduce Kylan, that would be the best revenge ever.
“I have a proposal for you,” Ava said, giving Kylan a sultry gaze. She was very aware of how she was straddling his lap, and very aware of the bulge that was poking her core from beneath.
Kylan arched an eyebrow. “I’m listening.”
Now that she had his attention, Ava’s heart jumped to her throat. What was she supposed to say?
“Well, um… will you marry me?” Ava blurted out.
“What?” Kylan asked before letting out a humourless chuckle. “So you kissed me out of the blue, and now you’re proposing to me, are you trying to take responsibility for the kiss?”
Ava’s face flushed to an adorable pink.
“It’s kind of like a deal. If you marry me, I’ll give you my body,” she said seductively before pushing herself into him, making sure his shaft rubbed against her core. “I’m untouched.”
Silence fell between them, and it felt like time was moving slowly.
Just when Ava thought he was not going to respond, Kylan carried her off his lap and got to his feet.
“No.”
“I’m sorry, what?”
“Your offer is not tempting enough, Miss Sinclair. I’m a businessman. If I have to make any kind of deal, it must be beneficial to me.”
And just like that, he turned on his heels and walked away, leaving Ava feeling like someone had poured a bucket of cold water on her head.
How the hell did he know her name?
…
The next day at Bellmount University...
Ava forced herself into the lecture hall, her head pounding from the shots she had taken the previous night.
She searched the hall, and when she saw her friend waving at her, she gave a faint smile and went to sit next to her.
“Last night was wild. I can't believe you kissed Kylan! You should've seen Richard’s face!” Nicole said excitedly.
Ava flinched at the memory, and her face flushed when she recalled how Kylan rejected her.
Alcohol was her greatest enemy. How could she kiss him like that and ask him to marry her?
She bit her lower lip. “He rejected me though. I was so embarrassed.”
“Rome wasn't built in one day. Besides, Richard left before he could see any of that. You've already taken the first step by making that stone-hearted man kiss you.”
Ava sighed before taking out her Artificial Intelligence notebook.
She wished it was that simple. Each time she closed her eyes, she had flashes of Kylan saying no to her.
It kept getting on her nerves.
“Anyway, if it doesn't work out with Kylan, you can always go for my brother,” Nicole suggested, making Ava almost choke on her saliva.
“I'll pass… that's just weird,” Ava remarked, making Nicole snort.
“Have you heard that we have a new professor today?” Nicole asked. “I hear he's very young and handsome. He got his PHD at a very young age, and he has a wealthy background. If Kylan trips, you can seduce our new professor.”
Ava laughed awkwardly. There was no way she would listen to Nicole's advice again. The last one ended up being a total disaster.
Besides, time was ticking, and she needed to start looking for ways to pay back the loan, or she would get arrested.
“I'm not seducing anyone again. Let's get ready for the lecture… the new professor might have questions for us to see how much we know,” Ava murmured, opening her notebook to go through her notes.
The doors opened, and the lecture hall fell silent.
“Oh. My. Freaking. God.” Nicole gasped, and Ava raised her head, only to see a familiar figure majestically walking to the front in an all-black suit.
She froze, her heart pounding erratically in her chest.
Why was it him?
The new professor scanned the crowd before his gray eyes landed on Ava, and her breath hitched. It was like he was glancing directly at her. Like he was trying to make sure she knew who he was.
A very subtle smirk played on his lips, his eyes never leaving Ava’s. “Good morning, students.”
Kylan’s eyes slightly widened. He leaned back in his leather, swivel chair, his eyes darkening as they swept over Ava’s body like a predator watching prey that had walked into his trap.Ava held her coat open, revealing a one-piece red lace lingerie that clung to her like second skin.Kylan gulped, his gaze raking up and down her figure… the way the sheer lingerie hugged her curves, the way the crimson fabric blended with her fair skin, making it seem like it was part of her body, the way she perched confidently on his desk, legs crossed and her lips curved into a daring smirk… she was a vision of temptation through and through. Pulling at his tie like the office had suddenly become hot, Kylan gulped before glancing at his laptop. “That would be all.” Ava froze, her eyes rounding in shock as Kylan closed the laptop. “Y-You were on a video call?”“I was having a video conference meeting,” Kylan confirmed. “What?” Ava’s face burned. ‘Oh my god! What have I done?’ Kylan let out a
“Are you kidding me?!” Nicole slammed her palm on the desk, her eyes widening to the size of saucers. “You slept in the same room and nothing happened?”“Sshhh,” Ava’s face turned red as she hushed her friend. They were waiting for their next class in the lecture hall, so they discussed the events that occurred during the weekend. “Don’t be so loud. Do you want everyone to hear our conversation?” “I’m just shocked,” Nicole murmured. “How can Kylan spend a night with you and not do anything? Could the rumours be true?”“What rumours?” Ava asked, bemused. “That he’s gay…” Nicole whispered and giggled. “No, he’s not!” Ava defended. “He’s just being respectful… I think?”“Respectful, my ass,” Nicole remarked. “You jump on him and see if he still won’t do anything.” “Huh?” Ava had a question mark on her face. “Are you giving me bad ideas again?”“They’re not bad… you have to secure your position! What if he ends up marrying someone else? How will you take your revenge against Richard?”
“Thank you for the ride, Austin,” Ava said as she stepped out of the car. “I’m just doing my job, Ma’am,” the driver, Austin Scott, replied. “Give me a call when you need to go somewhere. I’ve been assigned as your personal driver by the boss.” Ava smiled before walking into the campus courtyard. True to his word, Kylan had replaced Baron Archard with a woman who seemed to be in her late forties. Ava expected him to change the driver too, but he probably wasn't worried since Austin Scott was a married man. A small smile crossed her lips. If people found out Kylan Kingsley was the jealous and possessive type, they wouldn’t believe it. He always appeared indifferent and cold… like he couldn’t waste his time on trivial matters like jealousy. Ava sighed, replaying everything that happened over the weekend. She had enjoyed spending time with Kylan and felt like she had gotten to know a side of him that was hidden from the public. Everything was going well that day... until she met D
“Is that so?” Kylan asked after a brief silence, staring at Ava so intensely as if he could see right through her. “Yeah… I don't like talking about it because I don't see the point,” Ava replied, biting her lower lip. “I mean, if I was meant to remember, I would've remembered what I had forgotten already.” Two years had already passed, and she'd already given up. She had stopped taking the medication a long time ago...“I see,” Kylan murmured, his expression unreadable save for the slight frown marring his face. “So you have no interest in being treated? Don't you want to recover the memory you lost?”“It's not like that… it just felt like a long shot since I couldn’t remember anything no matter how much I tried. I can't even remember how I got into an accident.”Ava sighed, recalling the past. ##Flashback to two years ago##Ava’s eyes fluttered open, and she immediately felt a throbbing pain in her temples. ‘Where am I?’ She asked in her mind, looking at the white ceiling. The s
“I’m sorry for the mistake, Miss,” the waitress apologised after getting Ava’s order wrong. “It’s fine,” Ava said, glancing at the medium-rare steak on her plate. Night had fallen, and Kylan had proposed they have their dinner out before going back home. Ava had ordered a well-done steak, but the waitress brought a medium-rare steak for her. “No, it’s not fine. Why should you eat what you don’t want?” Kylan uttered, glancing at the waitress. “Redo the order.”“No, it’s really fine. Mistakes happen, just make sure you don’t repeat this mistake,” Ava remarked, giving the waitress a warm smile. The waitress’ eyes lit up. “Really? Thank you so much, Miss. I’ll pay extra attention next time!” Ava watched the young waitress as she walked away, pursing her lips. Having worked as a waitress herself, she knew exactly how hard the job could be. If she had retaken the order, the manager would have known that she made a mistake, and even if they had paid for the extra order, the manager wo
Kylan gave a cocky smirk, staring at the claw machine with determination and confidence. It was just a claw machine. How hard could picking up a small plushie be?Sliding a token into the machine, Kylan grabbed the control probe. At the same time, Ava stood beside him, smiling from ear to ear like a kid who had just been given her favorite candy. She watched excitedly as Kylan controlled the claw, making it descend slowly, and just when she thought it would clutch onto the plushie, it missed, coming up empty. “Fuck,” Kylan hissed, frowning deeply. “Oh no… I knew this would happen,” Ava remarked, and then she whispered. “These things are rigged. Not everyone can get a plushie”“I’ll get that plushie for you,” Kylan said through gritted teeth, annoyed that he had missed. He slid another token into the machine, and this time, the claw did grab the plushie. “You did it!” Ava said excitedly. But she spoke too soon. The claw dropped the plushie at the last second. “Shit!” Kylan’s j
