{Ava’s POV}

~ The Next Day ~

Our new room was magnificent.

Edna and I had finished moving our things, concluding the process yesterday after the Alpha King left.

He had arrived at dawn yesterday, trailing a battalion of troops, and now that he had gone, he had left many of those troops behind, so that they now patrolled the Academy grounds, creating a sense of safety—and terror.

None of them were smiling.

I didn’t know what the conclusion of his visitation was, but what I do know is that things have become more strict around the Academy—tutoring classes, training, hunting sessions—everything.

Edna and I hadn’t attended any of those sessions because we had initially been scheduled to go to the Palace so now that that wasn’t happening any longer, we had attended our first tutoring classes this morning.

It was hell.

I'm joking— It was overwhelmingly fun— a mixture of tension and educational bliss, but now we were done and returning to our lodge.
