Lexie’s POV

When Melissa left, we had already arranged everything for the next day. I went back to my desk and it took a while before Patrick returned to his office. When he did, he seemed different - very serious, almost scowling.

"Lexie, in my office now!" He spoke in a tone that sounded irritated.

I was startled and remembered the day he came back from his trip and discovered who I was. But what had gotten into this man? Why was he irritated? I stood up somewhat hesitantly and walked toward the door he was holding open for me. Before entering, I looked at him, but his eyes revealed nothing.

"Patrick, what..." He cut me off.

"It's Mr. Guzman to you." He walked past me and sat in his chair. I was trembling and starting to worry about what had happened to make him act this way.

"Lexie, please come closer," he said, and I walked toward his desk. I was about to sit in one of the chairs in front of him, but he stopped me.

"I didn't tell you to sit. I told you to come closer." His gaze was
