It had been a few months since Ilana and Irina were recaptured. They were sent to a maximum-security penitentiary and had minimal contact with other people, kept in isolation because of their dangerousness and the risk of corrupting the guards or joining forces with other inmates to escape again.

Anabel still had nightmares and would wake up in the middle of the night startled and afraid. That day, when I arrived at the clinic, she was clinging to Lionel, crying and visibly shaken. I only managed to get her out of there after Don managed to change her father's room so she could be certain he would have a beautiful view of the garden and would be fine.

Sandra had once again protected Anabel, and their friendship had grown even stronger. If it weren't for the nightmares that left Anabel anxious, I would be breathing completely relieved.

Anabel shifted in bed and I noticed she started getting restless—it was a sign of an incoming nightmare. She tossed and moaned for a while,
