Kaia
I ran as far as my legs could take me into the woods without looking back.
“Get her!. Don't let that witch escape!“ Alpha Beckett, one of my pursers shouted behind me hot on his heels as he leads his armies of Pack warriors after me.
I could barely make out where I was going as it was dark and my senses were all a blur as the only thing that mattered to me right now was to survive the night.
“Fuck!“ I cried, tripping over a sharp, metal trap that caught my right leg. Placing my hands over my mouth to silence my cries, I tried to free my leg from the metal trap but it wouldn't budge.
Please, dear moon goddess selene. Help me.
With a muffled groan, I made another attempt to remove the metal trap off my legs and this time it came off. But at what cost?. My pursers had finally caught up with me.
A wide grin splayed across Alpha Beckett's face as he draws out his sword against my neck. “I think it's best you give up now, don't you agree?“
“Pleas..“
“Your words would only prolong your suffering” Alpha Beckett warns, cutting me off.
Bashing the hilt of his sword against my head, Alpha Beckett turns to his pack warriors. “Finish her”
“Yes, Alpha!“
No one was coming to save me. The moon goddess selene had turned her back against me, Alpha Beckett had taken my parents hostage. What else did I even have to live for?.
I shut my eyes tightly to receive my fate as Alpha Beckett's sword came down onto me.
But then, I heard faint sound of two metals clanking together.
Throwing my eyes wide open, I stare at the back of a mysterious man before me. He had drawn his sword just in time against Alpha Beckett's.
Alpha Beckett's face had a mix of displeasure “Who are you to intrude?“
“Me?“ He scoffs. “I'm no-one of any particular interest but I won't have you lay a finger on my mate”
I stilled. His mate?. Who?. Me?.
As far as I was concerned, I wasn't mated to anyone. The entire buckmoon pack and Alpha Beckett knew that.
Alpha Beckett lets out an hysterical laugh. “That witch has no mate, boy”
“Is that so?“ The mysterious man inquired asnhe turns around to face me. It was then I'd gotten a good look at his face.
His features were ordinary except the mole he had at the side of his eyebrow.
“They say we aren't mate” he says to me. “I don't know who is mistaken”
Was he trying to help me?. Why?. Did he know me from somewhere?.
I couldn't wrap my head around these questions and honestly, I wasn't trying to. All I knew was that I wanted to survive this night at all cost.
Playing by his game, a slow smirk splayed across my lips as I replied Alpha Beckett. “Surprise”
Anger seemed evident in Alpha Beckett's eyes. “You!. So you were mated to another and still insisted to marry my son!. Truly, he died because of you!. All of you, kill them all!“
With a loud shout, Alpha Beckett's pack warriors rushed towards us with their swords pulled out and ready to fight.
We were outnumbered. It was 50 pack warriors against 2. Coupled with the fact that I couldn't fight because of my injured knee, it all boiled down to my mysterious “mate” to fight them all off.
Could he do that?. Sh*t, I'm cooked!. As I began to scurry away on the ground, I turned to see my “mate” actually fight off all the pack warriors that launched their attacks on him with a single hand.
Who on earth is this man?. Watching his face break in a wide smile as his sword sliced across the flesh of his opponent, fear gripped me.
“Run Kaia” My wolf, Serena probes me from the midst of the chaos.
“I can barely move my feet” I say, reminding her of the wound in my leg. “It's yet to heal”
“Are you plotting with your wolf to escape?“ A strong voice inquires, catching me off-guard. It was my “Mate”.
He'd gotten rid of all Alpha Beckett's pack warriors. As for Alpha Beckett, he was nowhere in sight. It was just this mysterious man and I surrounded by a pool of dead bodies.
“Thank you for coming to my rescue but I have to be on my way”
He lets out an hysterical laughther. “You seem to be misunderstanding a few things here, princess. So, let me spell it out for you”
Throwing his finger in the air, he begins. “I didn't save you out of the goodness of my heart. I did it so you could be in debt to me for the rest of your life”
I blinked. “For the rest of my life?“
“You heard that, right” He concludes. “Second, from this moment on; you belong to me. So if you and your cunning little wolf tries to escape from me, bear in mind that the wages of trespassing me is death”
I froze. Death?.
“Thirdly, I'll be taking you back to my pack as my mate. Not just mine but also my brothers” He extends his hands out to me. “Before it doesn't seem like fair play, I'll give you a choice; Either take my hands or be turned over to Alpha Beckett”
I was enraged at the fact that I had no choice but to come to his terms. Anything at all was better than being handed back to Alpha Beckett.
Slowly, I placed my hands over his as he grips it firmly; yanking me up to my feet and whisking me up in his arms.
I unconsciously wrap my arms around his shoulders for support.
“If I were you, I'd grab on tighter” His rough voice advised.
“Thank you, I'm go-”
My words were cut short as my “mate” took to speed. I understood now why he gave that advise to hold onto him tighter.
After a while, he came to a stop infront of a golden gate. The gates were immediately opened by two guards at other ends whom bowed before my mate.
“Welcome back, Alpha Xendith” They greeted in unison. “How was your hunt?“
Xendith. So that's his name.
“As you can see” He says, referring to me. “It was eventful”
Xendith walks through the front lawn into the huge pack mansion. The pack mansion had three distinct floors.
He made his way to the third floor and walked into a room. There, three pair of eyes stared at us in dismay.
“I'm back” Xendith announced to the three male figures before him.
“And what is “THAT” you're holding?“ one of them
asked referring to me as a thing rather than a person.
“Her?“ Xendith chuckled. “Meet our new mate, brothers”
Xendith“Mother, you’re home early” My shaky voice greets. Why was I trembling this much? “Welcome”“I thought you missed me, Xendith. Especially since you asked Aklan to check up on my location”Aklan threw his hands up in the air. “I didn’t mean to, Mother”“It’s alright” Mother says, walking to her golden chair in the ancestral hall. “So, what have you four been up to? Have you found your chosen mate yet?”I dared not speak up. Kaia wasn’t ready to meet mother. Not right now, anyways. Something wet drips down my nose. It was blood. Don’t tell me Mother had just read my mind. Staring at Mother in shock, she had a smirk plastered across her face. “It looks like you have something to tell me, Xendith. Did I hear you say her name was Kaia? I’d like to meet her. Right now,”“Mother, why don’t you meet Kaia during dinner?” Cali inquires. “You just came back from a four days trip. You need rest”Mother nods in agreement. “You’re right, Cali. So, fill me in on what’s been happening in the
XendtihI dragged Aklan inside the pack mansion to the study room on the third floor. “Hey, use yours words” Aklan complained when we were in the study as he freed himself from my grasp. “I had a question to ask you”“What is it?”“Earlier on, you said you couldn’t see where I was with Kaia, was it true?”Aklan frowned. “Would I lie about something like that?”“Can you check to see where Mother is?”Aklan pursed his lips. “Mother is going to kill me for this”“That had never scared you before”Placing a hand over his right eye, Aklan does as I’d asked. “Mother is still on her trip”So, his powers weren’t broken yet he couldn’t find me when I was with Kaia. Weird. “Don’t you find that weird? The fact that you couldn’t find me when I was with Kaia?”“Weird?” Aklan scoffed. “Rather, I’m challenged. Never have I felt this much excitement my entire life”“Excitement?”He nods. “Yes. At least, around Kaia I wouldn’t have to worry about seeing her future. Being around her would make me fee
KaiaXendith hadn’t given me a chance to respond. He’d picked me up and speeded off to a restaurant. The people in the restaurant gave an off vibe. I could tell they weren’t werewolves. But that wasn’t the problem right now. Xendith had called me by my last name, Duncheon. How did he know that? Had he been digging into my past? Does that mean...he knows?“You seem to be overthinking a lot in that little head of yours, Kaia” he says, arms crossed over his chest. “Let’s make this date of ours a bit more fun, shall we?”“How?”“We both get to ask each other three questions each. What do you say?”I was wise enough to know that I didn’t have a choice in the matter. “That’s fine with me?”“Good” He shoves the menu across the table towards me. “Feel free to order whatever”Picking up the menu, I frowned at I read the list. Nothing here seemed edible for a werewolf. “What sort of place is this?”Xendith laughed. “Is that your first question?”I shut the menu. “You and your brothers. What exa
XendithAfter breakfast, I walked into Pliar’s room—of course, to cause trouble. Pliar was laid across his bed going through a book our father left us when he died. It contained rules and our duties as the next alphas of the pack. I was pretty certain Pliar already knew the content of the rule book like the back of his hands but a day hardly went by without him reading it. “Are you going to stand there all day, Xendith?” he asked without looking up from the book.“You act like you hate her and the sheer sight of her disgust you yet you sneak into her room and heal her ankle. Who do you think you’re trying to deceive, Pliar?”Then, he looks up at me. Bingo. “Weren’t you asleep?”Of course, I wasn’t. I’d spent all night wondering what sort of person Kaia was. “You first” Pliar shut the book in his hand. That was new. “The ointment Cali used was going to take forever before her ankle heals. We can’t have mother thinking we maltreat our mate, can we?”I nod in agreement. “I oddly see
KaiaIn one night, my life had changed in an instant. My mate, Matteo, alpha Beckett’s son had died a night to our mating ceremony. Alpha Beckett had strongly believed I was the cause and ordered my death by hanging. My bestfriend, Adalyn had overheard this and told me. Knowing I couldn’t change alpha Beckett’s mind no matter what-I did the one thing I thought could save me at the time; I ran. Maybe I should have stayed. Then, I wouldn’t be here. “Ouch” I winced, retracting my ankle from Cali’s hands. Alpha Cali had carried me up to my room. When he saw that my ankle was swollen, he got some ointment and helped apply it. “Sorry” He apologized. “I’ll try to apply it a bit gentler. Unfortunately, I don’t have healing powers like Pliar so this is the best option we have”“I appreciate you doing this for me. It must be burdensome”Cali takes my swollen ankle into his hands as he continues reapplying the ointment. “Nothing about you is burdensome. You’re part of the pack”For the first
XendithA little brief introduction to my brothers before I boil down to the reason why I brought home a mate they couldn't refuse. My brothers and I are quadruplets of which I'm the eldest. The second of the quad is Pliar. Pliar is much more outspoken and headstrong than the rest of us. He doesn’t like being told what to do and what not to do. But who does?. No one likes being bossed around. Next is Cali, the most reserved quad. Most of the pack elders often times wondered if Cali was truly our brother as he was so different from the rest of us. Be it in terms of speech, attitude or character. The last of the quad is Aklan, the spoiled child whom most always get what he wants. The four of us were to ascend to the throne after the death of our father, Alpha Lionel but it was impossible without a mate. As the entire pack members of Sturgeon moon pack feared us, no one desired to be our mate. Even at the cost of a fee. This angered me. In a fleet of rage, I'd set out to hunt and
