Chapter 2

LEO’S POV

My eyes slowly fluttered open and for the first time in a very long time, I slept soundly. However, I could vaguely recall my good time with a lady in the club. Even the sheets reminded me of her smell. Unfortunately, she was nowhere around me. I was confused and seeing how strong her scent was, I could tell that she left not too long.

I tried my best to recall how I got here and it suddenly occurred to me. I was brought here by a friend, got drunk and he made me crash in one of the private lounge.

‘Some friend you are, Jared.’ I thought to myself as I put on my clothes and left the lounge. However, I needed to know who that woman was. I couldn’t stop thinking about her and how great last night felt.

“Hey man, you’re awake…” Jared greeted with a smile as I walked out of the club. I sighed and raised a brow.

“What was that about?” I questioned and the latter patted my back.

“Come on man. Don’t be like that. I was just helping out a friend in need. Tell me, didn’t that help?” he asked and I only gave him an unamused gaze. However, I couldn’t deny that his actions last night didn’t help me cool off.

“Don’t ever do that again. I’ll have your head if you do.” I warned and he laughed.

“Surely, you jest. But that’s alright. I’ll be careful from now on.” He replied.

“Good. Also, I’d like to know who that lady was.” I said, but an amazed smile appeared on his face.

“Ooh… so even you cannot resist her charms. Haha… as expected. She is the core of this club. No man has ever touched her without asking for more. It’s why I value her.” He claimed and I scoffed.

“Well, I’d like to have her.” I ordered and suddenly, the smile on  his face disappeared and he shook his head.

“No, can’t do.” He replied and I squinted my eyes.

“And why is that?” I grunted but Jared wasn’t giving up.

“Like I said earlier, she’s my ace in this club. You think I’ll get this number of customers if I give her to you. Just save your urges for another woman.” He claimed and I felt extremely offended. But I couldn’t do anything to him.

“Come on, Jared. Even after that stunt you pulled, you should try to take responsibility and pay me back, and I’m taking that girl.” I argued but he refused.

“Absolutely not, Leo. I can’t hand her to you. She’s my ace. I can give you any other woman you want, but definitely not her.” He refuted. I stared deeply into his eyes, hoping that he would come to a compromise but he didn’t .

“You talk like she’s your property or something. What would you do if she decides to leave?” I scoffed and Jared wanted to speak but hesitated.

“Well, that’s a different scenario. It’s her choice so if she chooses to leave then I’ll grant it. However, you want to take her by force.” He accused and my lips twitched.

“Huh? Who said anything about taking her by force?” I questioned and Jared scoffed.

“Wasn’t that your intention?” he asked and I couldn’t help but sigh.

“I did intend to take her… but I don’t force women to do my bidding. Either way, I will find her, whether you like it or not.” I said before walking towards my car, “Also, can you at least tell me her name?”

Jared smiled and waved to me, “Nope. Not even her customers know her name. They just call her Vixen,” he claimed, annoying me. But I guess I could do with that info for now. I started the car and the latter waved, “Good luck with finding her.” he blurted, but I didn’t bother with him and simply drove off. Meanwhile, I couldn’t get my mind off that girl. She was the best I had ever had, and I wanted to find her by all means possible.

I pressed a button on my car and the automated assistant spoke. “What would you like me to do for you, Alpha Leo?” it spoke in a feminine voice which was neither friendly nor hostile, like an AI.

“Call Fred.” I ordered.

“Calling Fred.” it responded before placing a call to Fred, my Beta.

“Good morning, Alpha. I’ve been wondering where you were last night. Did anything happen sir?” he questioned with concern and worry in his voice. He is a very loyal man and my most  trusted subordinate.

“Morning. I’d like you to look for someone for me.” I said.

“And whom might this person be?” he questioned.

“It’s a lady I believe to be in her mid or late twenties. Long back hair, silver eyes and about six foot tall. Extremely attractive too. She works as a stripper in my friend’s club and is called ‘The Vixen’. Jared won’t reveal her name to me, so I’m just going to have to look for her myself or wait for her to return to the club. Find her and inform me of hr location when you do.” I described and Fred affirmed.

“Yes, Alpha. I’ll do my best to find this person you speak of. At the same time, I have new for you.” he claimed and I got curious.

“What is it?” I questioned.

“It’s the council… they seem to be extremely displeased with you due to the lack of a mate.” he explained but I wasn’t surprised.

“That’s old news. Ignore them…” I replied with a casual tone, but Fred wasn’t finished yet.

“Sir, it’s not them who bother me. But it is those who wish to use this as an opportunity to overthrow you, and they seem to be gaining support from some of the other council members daily.” he claimed and my eyes squinted. A cold glint flashed through my eyes and my inner wolf grunted, but I suppressed its ‘excitement’.

‘Interesting…’ I thought to myself before giving him orders, “Don’t do anything. Act like you are unaware of what is going on, but keep an eye on them. I’ll deal with them when I’m ready. Don’t forget the task I gave you.”

“Yes sir. I have men on the task already.” he claimed before hanging up.

‘Tsk… insolent old fools.’

Chapter 39Maya POV.I slip into the staff uniform, the fabric crisp against my skin. It’s been a while since I last wore it, but the motions come back to me as though I never left. There’s a strange comfort in the routine—the way the apron ties around my waist, the weight of the tray in my hands. Working again is a risk, especially since Leo has no idea. But I need to reclaim a part of myself, even if it’s done quietly, away from his watchful eyes. The mornings are the easiest. Leo leaves for work early, his sharp suits and determined stride carrying him away from the estate while I begin my duties. I make sure to time everything perfectly so our paths don’t cross. The last thing I want is for him to find out I’ve returned to work behind his back. It’s not long before the house begins to hum with activity. The clatter of pots in the kitchen, the low murmur of voices, and the distant sound of Courtney’s sharp laughter echo through the halls. Her presence is like a shadow, lingering ju

Chapter 38: Maya. The day of the party arrives like a storm—fast, loud, and impossible to ignore. I stand near the large kitchen doorway, watching as people buzz around the estate like frantic bees. Servants rush past with trays of food, clinking glasses, and floral decorations that seem far too grand for what should just be another celebration. I pull my shawl tighter around me, feeling smaller with every passing minute. These kinds of gatherings, with their shimmering gowns, confident laughter, and overindulgence, are not my world. I feel like an intruder. A shadow among the light. The grand hall transforms into something unrecognizable, filled with chandeliers that glitter like a thousand stars. The air carries the thick scent of roasted meat and expensive perfume, a suffocating mix that settles in my throat. I move quietly, keeping to the edges, where no one will notice me. Today, Alpha Leo’s pack will celebrate some political milestone—one I didn’t ask about. One I don’t belon

Chapter 37. Leo's POV I don’t know how much longer I can endure this. Courtney's voice grates against my ears like nails scraping against glass. She’s been at it for hours—complaining, arguing, pushing her way into a place she doesn’t belong. My room. My sanctuary. “I’ve always shared this space with you before,” she huffs, standing at the edge of my bed with her arms crossed. The light from the lamp softens her sharp features, but I see the stubborn set of her jaw. “Why should tonight be any different?” Because you’re not my mate, I think bitterly. Because the very thought of you here now makes me want to tear through the walls just to escape. “I’m not sharing my bed, Courtney,” I say, my voice cold and measured. I’ve repeated myself three times already, yet she doesn’t let up. “Why not?” she challenges, tilting her chin up. “I’ve always been here for you. I’ve done everything for you! I’ve stood by your side when no one else did—” “And I’ve given you my gratitude for

Chapter 36: Maya POV. I do my best to make myself invisible in this house. It's a survival tactic I've perfected since arriving here—move quietly, avoid eye contact, stick to the shadows. The mansion is vast, its hallways endless, and its silence oppressive. I’ve memorized the routes to the few places I need to go: the garden for my short, doctor-ordered walks, the kitchen for a glass of water when no one else is around, and back to my room, my solitary refuge. It’s easier this way, avoiding people. Avoiding her. Courtney’s presence is everywhere, even when she isn’t. It’s in the way the staff glance at me when I pass, the way my footsteps echo too loudly in the hallways, the way the air feels charged whenever I step out of my room. I know she doesn’t want me here. The feeling is mutual. After my walk today, I head straight to the shower. The hot water runs over me, washing away the tension in my muscles. I stay under the stream longer than I should, letting the heat soothe the ac

CHAPTER 35 LEO Anybody could smell the festivity in the air. The Packhouse was crammed with a lot of activities as servants and maids went around preparing every single corner of the Packhouse for the party tonight. It had been a very long time since a celebration of this sort happened here. As I made my way down to the courtyard, I could smell the polished woods fresh scent of flowers that were being chopped and decorated. It felt like chaos, but the kind that was meant to make things better. It was controlled, but chaos nonetheless. I had a lot of things to do so I needed to shift the work to someone else. As soon as I was ready to have the information disseminated, I called for everyone and asked them to gather in the main hall. How was the only place that could contain every single servant here. They filed in quietly, knowing better than to waste time because a lot of things still needed to be done. Claudia was standing beside me and there was a slight

CHAPTER 34 LEOWhen I walked into the courtroom the next morning, it was packed and I knew it was because of my announcement yesterday. I'd solved the problem that bugged them the most, but you could never just satisfy the council. The tension in the air was so thick you could slice it with a knife and every eye seemed to be watching. I was standing there, dressed in a dark suit with my jaw clenched. Silas was sitting across the room with his lawyers and he looked so hard and cold. I'd put him off many times, and I suspected that this day was going to come. I always knew he wouldn't go down without a fight, even when the answer was staring at him in the face. There was nothing he was going to do to get what he wanted, yet he still went after it. Once the judge entered, we all stood. I had only been to court once, and it had my heart pounding even though I knew I was going to win this. The hearing for the will contest soon started with both sides taking turns
