Chapter 3

MAYA’S POV

One Month Later…

It was a bright sunny day as usual, and I woke up. I lived in an apartment in the city, and the money I got paid from the club was enough to make me sustain myself and live well. However, was it really what I wanted?

I graduated from Crestwood University two years ago with a degree in Business Administration. However, I’ve been trying my best to secure a job for over a year, but I couldn’t. Back then, I lived with my Father and he’s not in the best health. He’s currently in a coma in the state hospital and his condition got worse. Knowing that I couldn’t wait for a miracle job, I had no choice but to take advice from Kelly, my friend, who introduced me to Mr. Jared.

Before I knew it, I became a stripper in the Eclipse Night Strip club and I rose up the ranks until I became their ace in the hole. I would work out every morning and head to a restaurant, where I served as a cleaner. Towards the evening, I go to the club to practice before performing at night and satisfying clients.

I went through this every single day, and it was exhausting. Every time I perform on the stage or sleep with a random rich man who is ready to pay some amount for my body, I put on a smile to make it seem like I enjoy it. Unfortunately, deep down, it really hurts. And I hate it. My first time, I was inexperienced and tried to connect with one of the men who came to the club. However, he only demanded for sex and when I was no longer of use to him, he simply dumped me.

Ever since then, I realized something that changed my life and changed the way I think, most men are scum. The worst of them are those that come to the club everyday, seeking for worldly pleasures, but they never try to understand what women go through. Not all of us do this because we want to, but mainly because we have to.

Keeping this in mind, I strove to be the best in whatever I did, and I swore than I would make man beg me for my body. Ever since, whenever I ‘serviced’ a man, they always come back for more.

I got dressed up for my work in the restaurant and I was just about to leave the house when I suddenly felt a wave of dizziness, forcing me to almost collapse. I held on to the couch and held my head. Things got slightly blurry in my eyes and the dizziness lingered.

‘What… what’s happening to me?’ I thought to myself. These past few days, I had been feeling much more tired and fatigue than usual, but it never got this bad.

‘Should I take a leave from work today?’ I thought to myself but suddenly, my father’s face appeared in my head and I shook off the dizziness.

“No… I have to keep going. I cannot afford to fall here.” I said to myself before getting myself a cup of water and washing my face with it. With that, I was off to work. Due to the mask I wore in the club, not many people knew who I was. So walking around during the day, I didn’t have to be worried about being recognized.

“You’re late, Maya!” Upon entering the restaurant through the backdoor, I was met with the grumpy voice of my boss. He was a middle aged man with a frown on his face. I quickly bowed and apologized, as Mr. Harry was known for his bad temper. I wouldn’t want to get on his bad side.

“I’m so sorry. I got stuck in traffic.” I gave a simple excuse but he wasn’t having it.

“Yeah yeah, you always get stuck in traffic. Get to work!” he roared and I shivered slightly before rushing to the bathroom to get changed into the restaurant’s uniform. Once I was done, I grabbed a mob and began my duties. Once I was done cleaning, I would attend to the customers. However, I wasn’t feeling all too good as I did this. For some reason, I felt tired than usual. I would usually feel tired whenever I do this kind of job, but the sort of fatigue I felt now was more than what I regularly feel.

I held my head and the headache threatened to make me collapse. “Are you alright, Maya?” a colleague asked and I smiled and nodded.

“Yes. I’m fine. Don’t worry about it.” I quickly explained to her so as not to make her worry. Suddenly, I heard another voice calling for me.

“Maya, order on table six.” I got an order from another waitress and I quickly attended to it. I received a tray from the counter and walked towards the table with a man dressed in white suit. Suddenly, the dizziness occurred again and I felt myself almost losing consciousness.

Suddenly, I felt like collapsing and the tray in my hand slipped, making the coffee on it spill on the man in white suit.

“Holy Shit! What the hell is wrong with you?!” he yelled at me while I tried to use the table to get  back on my feet. I was slowly beginning to recover my balance, but the damage had been done. His white suit was now a mess.

“I’m so sorry sir. I… I made a mistake.” I apologized frantically but that didn’t seem to be enough for him.

“This s a $2000 suit. What the hell is an apology gonna do?” He yelled. I wanted to calm him down, as I didn’t wan a certain man to  come here for me. Unfortunately, things don’t turn out the way we want them to be.

“What’s the matter sir?” My boss appeared, demanding an explanation. I wanted to speak first but the man in the suit interjected.

“This waitress of yours ruined my suit. What are you going to do about it?!” He grunted. I gasped and wanted to speak for myself, but Mr. Harry gave me a deep scowl.

“Please, young sir. Let us compensate you and serve you better. I’m sorry for the inconvenience my employee has caused.” he pleaded with the man with a smile on his face and an employee handed the man a napkin to use.

I knelt on the floor, wondering what was happening to me and why I was feeling dizzy, but that was just the beginning of hell for me.

“Come to my office, Maya.” Mr. Harry growled and I didn’t dare to disobey. Upon getting to his office, he sat down and took a deep breath. However, seeing him made me feel uneasy, and I could sense an ominous aura from him. My hands went cold, and I felt shivers down my spine.

“Maya… have you any idea what you’ve done?!” he growled and my body shook.

“I… I made a mistake sir.” I tried to defend myself but he slammed the table and slapped my face. My eyes went blank for a second there and tears formed in my eyes.

“A mistake?! You call call that a mistake? You ruined our reputation as a restaurant and made me pay a large sum as compensation. Can you afford $2000 with the puny salary you earn?!” he yelled but I couldn’t answer. Tears could only stream down my eyes as I listened to a man who slapped me for getting sick.

“I-I’m sorry… It won’t happen again.” I uttered.

“You’re right it won’t, cause you’re fired. Now get the hell out of here before I call the guards on you.” he roared and I walked out of his office. I took off the company’s apron and t-shirt and changed to my clothes before leaving the restaurant. I wiped my eyes and tried to act normal, but the outline of his palm still remain on my face, making it red.

“I’ll need to do a checkup sooner or later.” I said to myself, as I was worried that I might collapse. However, suddenly, my belly began to churn and the urge to throw up increased even more. I quickly rushed to the nearby drainage and poured out my entire bowel. An old lady walking by seemed bothered by it.

“Are you alright, young lady?” the man asked and offered to help, but I refused.

“I’m fine, thanks.” I replied before leaving for the club. Kelly saw me and smiled. “Hey you. Good evening.” she greeted and I tried my best to smile.

“Hi Kelly.” I waved but I wasn’t as energetic as I normally would be. She noticed that and she couldn’t help but ask.

“What’s up with you? You look pale.” she deduced but I returned a soft smile.

“I’m okay. Just a bit tired.” I came up with a small excuse and she bought it.

“Okay. You ready for practice?” she asked and I nodded. I changed into my bikini and began to stretch my body. However, I was still feeling nauseous and uncomfortable. I knew something was wrong with me, but I wasn’t expecting it to be this much.

‘Should I skip… work?’ I thought to myself as I got up and walked towards Kelly, hoping to tell her that I wasn’t feeling good today. Suddenly, another wave of dizziness hit me and I felt my vision distort.

“No… not… again.” I grunted before collapsing on the ground. Kelly gasped and the last I heard of her voice before drowning into unconsciousness was her screaming my name as she rushed towards me.

“Maya… MAYA!”

Chapter 39Maya POV.I slip into the staff uniform, the fabric crisp against my skin. It’s been a while since I last wore it, but the motions come back to me as though I never left. There’s a strange comfort in the routine—the way the apron ties around my waist, the weight of the tray in my hands. Working again is a risk, especially since Leo has no idea. But I need to reclaim a part of myself, even if it’s done quietly, away from his watchful eyes. The mornings are the easiest. Leo leaves for work early, his sharp suits and determined stride carrying him away from the estate while I begin my duties. I make sure to time everything perfectly so our paths don’t cross. The last thing I want is for him to find out I’ve returned to work behind his back. It’s not long before the house begins to hum with activity. The clatter of pots in the kitchen, the low murmur of voices, and the distant sound of Courtney’s sharp laughter echo through the halls. Her presence is like a shadow, lingering ju

Chapter 38: Maya. The day of the party arrives like a storm—fast, loud, and impossible to ignore. I stand near the large kitchen doorway, watching as people buzz around the estate like frantic bees. Servants rush past with trays of food, clinking glasses, and floral decorations that seem far too grand for what should just be another celebration. I pull my shawl tighter around me, feeling smaller with every passing minute. These kinds of gatherings, with their shimmering gowns, confident laughter, and overindulgence, are not my world. I feel like an intruder. A shadow among the light. The grand hall transforms into something unrecognizable, filled with chandeliers that glitter like a thousand stars. The air carries the thick scent of roasted meat and expensive perfume, a suffocating mix that settles in my throat. I move quietly, keeping to the edges, where no one will notice me. Today, Alpha Leo’s pack will celebrate some political milestone—one I didn’t ask about. One I don’t belon

Chapter 37. Leo's POV I don’t know how much longer I can endure this. Courtney's voice grates against my ears like nails scraping against glass. She’s been at it for hours—complaining, arguing, pushing her way into a place she doesn’t belong. My room. My sanctuary. “I’ve always shared this space with you before,” she huffs, standing at the edge of my bed with her arms crossed. The light from the lamp softens her sharp features, but I see the stubborn set of her jaw. “Why should tonight be any different?” Because you’re not my mate, I think bitterly. Because the very thought of you here now makes me want to tear through the walls just to escape. “I’m not sharing my bed, Courtney,” I say, my voice cold and measured. I’ve repeated myself three times already, yet she doesn’t let up. “Why not?” she challenges, tilting her chin up. “I’ve always been here for you. I’ve done everything for you! I’ve stood by your side when no one else did—” “And I’ve given you my gratitude for

Chapter 36: Maya POV. I do my best to make myself invisible in this house. It's a survival tactic I've perfected since arriving here—move quietly, avoid eye contact, stick to the shadows. The mansion is vast, its hallways endless, and its silence oppressive. I’ve memorized the routes to the few places I need to go: the garden for my short, doctor-ordered walks, the kitchen for a glass of water when no one else is around, and back to my room, my solitary refuge. It’s easier this way, avoiding people. Avoiding her. Courtney’s presence is everywhere, even when she isn’t. It’s in the way the staff glance at me when I pass, the way my footsteps echo too loudly in the hallways, the way the air feels charged whenever I step out of my room. I know she doesn’t want me here. The feeling is mutual. After my walk today, I head straight to the shower. The hot water runs over me, washing away the tension in my muscles. I stay under the stream longer than I should, letting the heat soothe the ac

CHAPTER 35 LEO Anybody could smell the festivity in the air. The Packhouse was crammed with a lot of activities as servants and maids went around preparing every single corner of the Packhouse for the party tonight. It had been a very long time since a celebration of this sort happened here. As I made my way down to the courtyard, I could smell the polished woods fresh scent of flowers that were being chopped and decorated. It felt like chaos, but the kind that was meant to make things better. It was controlled, but chaos nonetheless. I had a lot of things to do so I needed to shift the work to someone else. As soon as I was ready to have the information disseminated, I called for everyone and asked them to gather in the main hall. How was the only place that could contain every single servant here. They filed in quietly, knowing better than to waste time because a lot of things still needed to be done. Claudia was standing beside me and there was a slight

  • ENSNARED THE ALPHA'S PET    CHAPTER THIRTY FOUR

CHAPTER 34 LEOWhen I walked into the courtroom the next morning, it was packed and I knew it was because of my announcement yesterday. I'd solved the problem that bugged them the most, but you could never just satisfy the council. The tension in the air was so thick you could slice it with a knife and every eye seemed to be watching. I was standing there, dressed in a dark suit with my jaw clenched. Silas was sitting across the room with his lawyers and he looked so hard and cold. I'd put him off many times, and I suspected that this day was going to come. I always knew he wouldn't go down without a fight, even when the answer was staring at him in the face. There was nothing he was going to do to get what he wanted, yet he still went after it. Once the judge entered, we all stood. I had only been to court once, and it had my heart pounding even though I knew I was going to win this. The hearing for the will contest soon started with both sides taking turns

CHAPTER 33 LEOI had decided to come out today, despite anything that might have wanted to day against that. It didn't matter to me because all I needed at the moment was to be outside again, feel the air on my skin and the sun on my back. I couldn't stop thanking myself for making that decision because it felt almost perfect. The warm sun against my skin as I slowly made my way through the pack gardens with Estelle standing beside me to make sure I was feeling okay. I trudged along the path, crunching the gravel beneath my feet and smelling the fresh scent of flowers that came my way. However, my mind was still somewhere else. It was almost impossible to shake the heaviness that had settled in my chest now. These past few days have been nothing but confusing and lonely. That's when my mind went back to what Leo had told me at dinner. We were mates but it didn't change anything. It made my heart twist with pain again, but I shook off the thought, looking awa

  • ENSNARED THE ALPHA'S PET    CHAPTER THIRTY TWO

CHAPTER 32 MAYAI woke up the next morning feeling so empty and drained. I still remembered everything he said to me last night. I'd tried so hard to push it off but the words wouldn't stop echoing in my head like a song stuck on repeat. Of course we were mates but that wasn't going to change anything. Every single word he'd said seemed to chip away at my soul. I didn't know if that feeling was hope but it was probably dead now. He had made himself very clear to me last night and I appreciated it that he didn't hide any emotions as he spat it all out, loud and clear. Now I just had to find a way through these emotions that were wreaking havoc on me from within. My thoughts were interrupted when a knock sounded on the door. "Miss?" "Come in." I called out before getting into a sitting position. Given another option, I'd have loved to sit away the rest of the morning thinking about that night even though it made me feel bad, unwanted and rejected. My maid came i

  • ENSNARED THE ALPHA'S PET    CHAPTER THIRTY ONE

CHAPTER 31 LEOWhen I walked out of the Packhouse and onto the courtyard, the sun was already high in the sky. That was something about this season, early mornings and early nights. A few weeks ago at this time, it was all dark and chilly. The air was crisp and the smell of freshly cut grass invaded my nostrils the moment they came. I could see the new recruits from where I was now. The Pack training centre wasn't far away, and I had them training already. I'd chosen this time because it would be the peak of the training and I'd get to watch them and say a few words to them before moving to the next task on the litany of things I needed to do today. It was a whole lot. When I arrived, the recruits were now arranged in perfect rows, with faces as serious as a sculptures's and eyes that crackled with a lot of nervous energy. As much as all of them wanted to look confident and all, one of the perks of being an Alpha was being able to see through it. Sometimes when
