FAZER LOGINRidley practically jumped out of the car just as I parked it. Hurriedly, I unbuckled my seatbelt, grabbed my purse and followed him. I tried my best to keep up with him, but he was speed-walking into the hospital and bumping into people without acknowledging them. "Sorry. Sorry" I apologised to the people he bumped into, following his trail.I could hardly keep up by the time we reached the reception. "Emmett Stetson...where is his room?" He asked the male nurse behind the desk. He looked up at him. "Relation?" He asked curtly."Son," Ridley replied with annoyance lacing his tone. "Ridley Stetson, I'm his son." He added."Third floor, room 309." The nurse said and went back to looking at the patient records on his desk. It was another chase game for me as Ridley walked to the elevator with hastened steps, and I got into the elevator after him. The elevator ride was silent. I wanted to say something, tell him not to worry and that his father would be okay, but I could see from his d
I kept opening the offers from multiple hotels, switching from one email to another and reading through their offers and requirements. I was honestly at my wits' end with which one to go with. All the offers were great, but I could not make up my mind and pick one. Ridley peeked over at me for a second. "Still haven't made your decision?" He asked, his eyes solely on the road, and I shook my head."I don't know which one is the best..." I paused and looked over at him. "...they are all great offers, but I can't seem to make my mind up," I told him truthfully.Ridley's hand reached out for mine while the other one remained on the wheel. "There's no pressure, you still have time to make a decision, and even if you decide on none of them, you can always come back and be my secretary."I rolled my eyes but smiled. "Shut up, I did not quit my job to be your secretary." He shrugged, all while his eyes were on the road. "Well, it was worth a try." He took another turn, joining another road
Three weeks had gone by since I quit my job. The days seemed to drag on, meshing into one with nothing to keep me busy. I spent most of my days indoors, but would venture out into the world when the boredom got to me. Other than that, I was scrolling on my phone or sprawled out on the couch watching another old sitcom. Despite being bored out of my mind, I was glad for my time off, I actually needed it more than I thought. I did not have to worry about meeting any deadlines, completing reports, reporting to superiors or meeting my ex-husband in the elevators of the Stetson building. I did miss working with Lisa as well as driving to work with Ridley and seeing him. I did not like only seeing him at the end of the day, tired and drained from the day's work. Sometimes I got to see him before he left in the morning, but usually I was so fast asleep that I would not hear him getting ready and would wake up after he had already left. My body straightened up when I heard the door open and
"It feels like yesterday when I was helping you move in here." I smiled at Lisa from the boxes I was loading. She looked down at the box she was packing with a morose expression, and I bit on my top lip. She was taking this harder than I had expected. We had formed a kind of friendship, and I knew that she would be sad, but I did not account for the fact that she would be very very sad. A few weeks had passed since the soiree, and after a lot of thought, a few conversations with Harris and Lou, and an argument with Ridley, I decided to resign from Stetson Hotel and find new prospects. Lou was right, slowly but surely, working there was becoming more of a headache, and it was more draining to meet Ashton or his mother anywhere. Working with Ridley was one of the few, if not the biggest positive of working there. That, plus the paycheck. Harris did not seem too shocked about it when I asked for his opinion, Lou was behind my decision the entire time, but Ridley did not take it too we
Ridley hissed when I dabbed a cotton ball drenched with antiseptic on his cheek. I muttered a soft 'sorry' before continuing. After his father ordered both brothers to leave, Ridley and I went back to our apartment, but not before stopping at a convenience store to get an ice pack for his swelling face. Ashton had landed a few harsh blows on his face."Isn't this funny?" Ridley spoke just as I moved down to his split lip. I drew back a bit with a questioning look. "If Ashton had not messed up, he'd be the one you're tending to so carefully." His voice was distant, and if I had not paid attention, I would not have noticed his clenched fists at his sides. My movements stopped, and I backed away to look at his face properly. His eyebrows were scrunched up into a frown, his lips in a thin line, and his face battered. He looked like an angry kid, but despite how much I wanted to tease him, I knew that the night had taken a toll on him...hell, even I was pissed. I got an adhesive bandage an
Ridley's arm did not leave my waist. He stayed at my side like an extension of my body as we walked around, avoiding any unnecessary conversation but still entertaining a few people we deemed worthy of our time. We would have both preferred to skip the entire thing, preferably for a night inside, cuddled up and entertaining each other, but duty called. Honestly, I could have done without making an appearance at the soirée thrown by the Stetsons, but Ridley had convinced me to tag along, promising to stay by my side the entire night.Ridley could not exactly ditch the event, it was being thrown by his family, and even though he despised the ground they walked on, he still made sure to ascertain the fact that he was also a Stetson and would not let his brother overshadow him in any way. I only agreed to come with him after some persuasive words and kisses. An unnerving feeling settled at the bottom of my stomach the moment we walked through the huge doors of the banquet hall. Memories o
TWENTY-TWOMy head felt heavy, so did my feet and the rest of my body. I could hardly make see the things around me but somehow I had managed to get to the penthouse and to the front door. Thank the heavens Lou had ordered an uber because I would have not been able to drive. At first when I spoke o
CHAPTER EIGHTEEN Ridley had finally sorted out the issue about the lawyer—well, more like he had called in a favour from one of his former friends from university who was a very qualified lawyer. When Ridley described all the cases, Harris, his friend had taken on and won, I was amazed, he was an u
CHAPTER FIFTEENI probably forgot to mention that Maria was a very dramatic woman and that her son always hid behind her skirt. Ashton was like a young boy still under his mother’s protection, waiting for his mommy to speak for him. Even during the good times of our marriage, he did defend me, but
CHAPTER TENWhen Ridley proposed "letting loose," the first thing I thought of was a club and getting wasted. After all, he had already offered me a cup of wine. I was insistent on refusing and going back to work. He kept trying to get me to accept, but I was hellbent on going back to Stetson Hotel
