Rylan's POV

“What?” I snap at Beta Damon's words. I can't seem to understand or believe what he is saying at all. “How is that possible?! It is not even up to a day and they are already trying to replace him, isn't that cruel?”

“That is the tradition, Rylan,” Beta Damon replies. “The throne can't be vacant for too long.”

“But it's just four hours since he collapsed,” I retort back. “At least, they should be patient enough to mourn their king's bad health.”

“I understand… This is faster than anyone I have witnessed, but this is necessary. The news of the queen being under house arrest already causes a commotion among the people and if they learn about the king's bad health coupled with the vacant throne.. the people's spirit would be crushed.”
