Rylan’s POV

“Right? Be careful, Nerissa. Don’t push me—don’t make me do something that would not only strip your son of his place… but strip you of your crown.”

The words hang in the air like a thunderstorm about to break. No one is talking. No one is breathing. Just two powerful Alpha wolves staring at each other like they want to rip themselves apart. Nerissa grips the sides of her robe tightly like it’s the only thing keeping her from attacking her husband.

That statement. It’s almost unbelievable. This is the first time Father has ever talked to Nerissa like this. She is his everything—the woman who made him king—and he would forever be grateful to her.

My eyes narrow in confusion… why would he talk to her in such a manner? Does he know everything River did? Does he know how Nerissa has been covering up for him? I think he does, because that’s the only practical reason that explains the statement.
