CHAPTER 32

ROB’S POV

“To victory.” O’Neil raised his glass, smirking.

Our glasses clinked in the air.

“I won’t lie,” I said, setting the glass back down. “The past few weeks were hell. It was like everything was slipping out of my control.”

“But you didn’t let it happen.” He let out chuckled.

I leaned back, a slow smile creeping on my face. “And the moment I found out about her pregnancy? I knew at that moment I’d gotten my trophy.”

“All that’s left is for that baby to be born.” I added.

“Does she know yet?” O’Neil asked, leaning back into his chair with a hand on his chin.

I shook my head. “I haven’t figured out how to break it to her.”

“She shouldn’t know about it, yet.”

“That’s not possible.” I frowned. “It’s her body, she’s bound to see changes.”

O’Neil leaned forward. “I’m fully aware of that, but I know my granddaughter too well—she knows now and she wouldn’t hesitate to terminate that child, so it’s best to let her find out naturally.

CHAPTER 34 JENNA’S POV The sound of Isabelle’s chattering and the car engine blended softly as I pulled into the driveway. My fingers ached from the dozens of shopping bags that carried tiny shoes, to rompers, cute little toys and even a few baby blankets that Isabelle refused to drop. “They were too cute to pass by.” She said, by the time we’d realized we bought a little too much items. If I was to describe today? I’d say overly exhausting and I’m sure little Rob would agree to that too. “Today was productive, don’t you think?.” Isabelle said delightfully as she reached for the shopping bags in the back seat. “I don’t think there'd be anything left to buy since we mostly bought everything.” I laughed. “That wouldn’t be the case right now if you hadn’t selected all available options rather than pick one.” “What can I say? One is boring, so why not have it all.” She smirked. Sometimes I just didn’t understand Isabelle, right now, she was just like a child wh

CHAPTER 33 JENNA’S POV “I don’t think I want this baby.” I blurted without hesitation. I sat there, with fingers knotted in my lap. The doctor stared at me with a surprising look. “Jenna, maybe you need some time to think about this.” My mind was already made up. There was nothing else to think about. “What are my options?” “Hmmm, well we’d need to run some more tests and possibly a scan to get clearer information before making any decisions.” The doctor continued. “But I strongly recommend you take some time to think this through.” “It’s just….” My voice broke. “Things have been a bit rough for me these past few weeks and I’m not really sure about raising a child yet.” She didn’t interrupt. Just listened. “And please, I wouldn’t want my grandfather to hear a word of this.” I quickly added. She nodded. “Of course, I’d do as you wish.” Days passed in a blur. I managed to keep it all together, attend meetings, carry on with

CHAPTER 31 JENNA’S POV I walked into Elijah’s office and I had only one aim—cutting him off forever. “Oh, Jenna! Why haven’t you been picking up my calls—“ Elijah questioned, the minute he set his eyes on me. “I’m not here for all that, Elijah. I’m here to make things clear—don’t fucking call me or text me cause we’re done. I never want to see you again. He let out a chuckle. “This is Rob’s doing isn’t it? He’s just using you.” “How dare you bring Rob into this?” “Because I’m trying to make you see the truth!” His voice was sharp. “He’s manipulating you in so many ways yet you can’t see it—“ "At least he’s not like you”. Elijah’s expressions suddenly turned sour. A wicked smile formed. “You didn’t think I’d find out right? The real reason your wife left you.” He blinked, stuttering. “W—what are you talking about?” “Oh C’mon Elijah, don’t be obtuse. I know the kind of monster you are. I know about the abuse of your ex-wife and how you paid her to keep shu

CHAPTER 30 ROB’S POV The aroma in the kitchen smelled of garlic and dried herbs. Jenna stood by the kitchen counter cutting and stirring at the same time. She looked beautiful this way—relaxed and composed, in my house where she belonged. “You know you’re cutting those wrong.” I said, teasingly. “Says the man who doesn’t even know how to cook.” A smile formed on my face. “That was just one time.” Jenna chuckled lightly. “I’m glad you admitted it.” For a moment it was strange how normal everything felt. Like hadn’t been living in two different storms for the past weeks. I’d never have imagined us both, talking and laughing happily in the kitchen. Jenna’s phone lit up for the fourth since we started cooking. “Hey, are you going to get that?” I said, pointing to the phone. She didn’t bother to reach for it, instead continued to chop up vegetables. “Hmm it’s not important.” She muttered. I leaned closer to the counter, and the phone lit up again. It wa

CHAPTER 29 ROB’S POV I stepped into my office, shutting the door behind me with a soft thud. I wasn’t surprise to see Charles—the private investigator already seated, waiting for me. “What have we got?” I said, settling comfortably into my desk. He didn’t waste time. His hand fell into a folder and pulled out a file. “I don’t see him recovering anytime soon after he sees this.” Slowly I opened the file. There were photos, police reports, court documents, medical reports. Everything i needed to ruin Elijah. “We finally got a hold of his ex-wife. Took her a while to talk but she did eventually.” He started. “She confirmed he abused her, both physically and emotionally. There were restraining orders and even a law suit—but using his position as an advantage, he played the system.” I was now staring at the page showing bruises and hospital reports. My jaw clenched in anger. “He’s a monster.” I hissed under my breath. “She also mentioned something about him havi
