LOGINCHAPTER 4
JENNA’S POV Grandpa blew off a cynical laugh as he said, “ so you were real?” His eyes trailed to Rob’s bandaged hand. “You into sports?” He questioned, still eying his hand suspiciously. I felt my heart drop into my stomach. I turned to look at Rob, he gave a slight smirk as his eyes met mine. Please don’t say I did that, oh God please. “Oh no, my hand got caught in the door back at work, So yeah this” he waved his arm. “Of course I am real, my cute little Jennie here really did a good one in keeping us a secret,” he grabbed onto my hand as he gave a light hearted laughter. Little Jennie? No one’s fucking called me that since high school. “Oh well, you missed starters, but you came just in time for the main course mr-?” “Rob, Dimitri Rob” his voice resonated. Everyone got settled in. It felt so real, the dinner, Rob by my side, I never believed I could pull this off. “So how did you two meet?” Grandpa started. “Can’t we have a quiet dinner without you interrogating, grandpa?” “Common sweetie, I’m sure he is just curious about us,” Rob said. “We actually met in a club” he shifted his gaze to me. “Little missy here was a bit tipsy and as we’d have it, I ended up being her knight in shining armor,” he winked at me. I found myself blushing at that little action. It was a lie, well we did meet in a club, but still. “I actually saw her walk in and I knew from there I had to get her for myself,” Okay now that was very cliché. I tried to hold back a giggle. “I’m guessing she had loads of-“ “Tequila!” Both chorused as they stared at each other in amusement. I think he’s warming up to Rob. Grandpa’s voice dropped to a low tone as he leaned forward “ where do you work, Rob?” “Uhm, I actually work as a manager at RD companies,” I paused as I almost choked on the vegetable I just put in my mouth. I started feeling nervous and didn’t notice when my legs started to shake. Huge hands started to rub my legs. My eyes dilated. I turned to look at Rob as he nodded his head signaling me to calm down. What does he mean he works at RD companies? Like the RD companies we’ve been trying to partner with for a long time? As much as I was shocked, I was also amazed. I could have sworn I’ve met the manager of RD companies and he doesn’t look anything like the person eating dinner with my family. Or maybe he got fired and then replaced with Rob? I shrugged. Well I’ve got more issues to worry about now other than that. Grandpa’s face gleamed with delight. “My, my isn’t that amazing? And why am I coming to know of this now?” His gaze narrowed to my direction. “Uhm-uhm,” I stuttered. Rob stretched his hand to mine and gave it a light squeeze. “I’m sure Jennie didn’t want to mix business with pleasure hence why she kept it a secret. Isn’t that right honey?” “Uh yeah, right”. I confirmed, giving a slight nod. “Well that makes us very much acquainted then. We’ve been planning to partner with your company for a while now, and seeing you’re going to be in our family soon makes it much easier”. “That’s for sure sir”. “Quit the formalities, I’m not that old, you can call me O’Neil” grandpa spoke in his crackling old voice. If it wasn’t for the grey hair and beards, grandpa would definitely pass as being 40. I shot him an eye. He gave off a light hearted laugh “Give your old man a break, girl.” “ So….” He paused to sip into his wine. “ I want to assume you’re both planning a wedding soon,” grandpa shot a look at both of us. What is this old man up to again? He asked to see my boyfriend, now he wants us married? This couldn’t have gotten any worse. “Not yet grandpa,” I blurted. His gaze shifted to Rob, staring with a questioning look. “Rob?” “What she’s trying to say is, with the job I have currently, getting married isn’t really a priority right now”. He continued. “ I really wouldn’t want to put your lovely granddaughter in a life of discomfort.” “Ohh, I see,” Yess, way to go Rob. I didn’t even notice when I blew out a sigh of relief. “Well then, we’d go ahead with the wedding preparations”. Grandpa said with a sinister smile. “What?” We both called out at the same time. “I don’t think you heard Rob right grandpa, his job isn’t enough to think of starting a family right now. I think you should give us more time to think this through.” At this point I could feel my heart thud so loudly. Our expressions suddenly filled with confusion. This shouldn’t be happening. I suddenly felt bad for dragging poor Rob into this. The plan was to come here and play pretend boyfriend for a couple hours and everyone goes their way, live their fucking goddamn life not getting married. I could see Rob starting to become visibly uncomfortable. “Grandpa, I think you’re just filled with too much excitement,” Rob chimed in. “Jenna and I need more time to think this through, you see.” “Nonsense,” grandpa said as he paused to sip into his wine. “Son! Money isn’t our problem here. Take it as me being generous to my soon to be son-in-law.” I got cut off, just when I was about to speak. “That’s final.” “So it’s settled then, you both are getting married nextweek” he continued. “A toast, to our soon to be weds,” he raises he glass up in the air. Glasses clicked together, the only thing I can think of is how woefully my plan failed. My gaze turned to Rob. His expression was flat, straight, anything you’d want to call something that lacked emotion. Just when I thought I was the player, rather I got played.CHAPTER 107ROB’S POV Pain surges through my skull in an agonizing manner. The pressure presses behind my eye balls, that it hurts to even open them up properly. Muffled sounds slip through the darkness. Voices of both a man and woman. It sounds like they’re whispering. “….he doesn’t need to know.” A familiar voice speaks. “You went a bit far.”Isabelle! That was Isabelle’s voice. My stomach churns. What don’t I need to know about?“The bastard was getting on my nerves.” The male voice spat out. It took me an extra three seconds to recognize it was Damien’s. The throbbing in my skull doubles by two folds. Like it’s punishing me for trying to listen. “You were the one who hit him, not me.”“Well you gave me no other choice. I had to do something.”No other choice…I try to hold on to that, but the pain won’t let me. Something definitely feels wrong but I can get a grasp of it with this pain knocking me out every second. Another wave of pain tears into me and it comes out as a lo
CHAPTER 106JENNA’S POV“Tell them no….actually tell them yes, but only if they can move the deadline.” The phone hangs on my ear while I scribble down signatures on countless paper works. The line had gone silent, but my phone vibrated again. Another call trying to muscle its way in. “We’ve got a deal. They’re moving the deadline to a month.” A voice says from the line. I smile to myself. “Good! A meeting would be scheduled soon to talk about how to kick off. Thanks for your time.”A breath of exhaustion escapes from my lips. It was only Wednesday, yet it felt like Monday. If for anything, I was grateful I even had the time to breathe, else I’d have died on this chair in a matter of minutes. Another beep came into the office phone. I stared at it for a beat as I questioned my life’s choices. “Jenna’s Corp…..no, until then you need to go through the legal means……sure……Thursday’s fine.” I pause, listening, when my door opens up for the third time in 10 minutes. A frown forms on my
CHAPTER 105ISABELLE’S POVRob stood at the entrance of the room still in his wedding suit, a bottle of alcohol in one hand while the other supported his body by the door. His eyes glistened with rage and something else. Not only did he just catch me in a compromising position, but with someone whom he surely despised. Fuck, fuck, fuck! Why now? I scurried away from Damien’s body, grabbing the sheets as I moved farther into the bed. Damien had already pulled up his pants and was now staring Rob down, like getting caught wasn’t a big deal. I’m sure he didn’t find it as one because he wasn’t the one who’d just gotten married recently. One minute I was about getting the best orgasm of my life. The next I’m shaken and regretting giving in to my thirst. “What the hell is going on here?” Rob asked in a sharp tone as he stepped in. His movements seemed out of place. Was he drunk?“I won’t…won’t ask this again, what the fuck are you doing with Isabelle?” His gaze turned to Damien.Oh G
CHAPTER 104ISABELLE’S POVHe lifted me off the ground in one swoop, allowing my arms to glide over his neck as support. His sharp gray eyes pierced into mine while he walked in silence. The sound of our hearts beating against our chests was enough to fill up the silence. Dark mesmerizing lust rolled off him while his gaze drifted all over my body. He dropped me on the bed softly with a small grunt. Our eyes met again and all I could see was Uriel trapped in another man’s face. That didn’t stop the feeling I had growing to stop, if anything it became more intense. Blinding my every sense of vision to imagine that the man standing right before me was Uriel in his past form. The way his lip curled, the way his ears twitched when he was getting fascinated, they still remained. My sense of self flashed back for a few seconds. Oh my God! I’m literally naked in bed with Uriel piercing through me with his eyes. How the fuck had this happened? You betrayed him, remember that?He litera
CHAPTER 103ISABELLE’S POVI tossed and turned every single object I saw in sight. Rage filled me in ways I never imagined. How dare he? How dare he? How fucking dare him.First he looked lost when it got to us saying our vows. For a second there I was almost scared he was gonna say no. I wondered so many things that would have been going through his mind, but his silence wasn’t something I could read. I stared down at my wedding dress and only felt the sting from this morning. He left. Rob fucking left me outside the church, making me feel like a white fool as everyone watched in confusion. Not only did he leave me just standing there, he’d yelled out her name. Right in front of everyone. He kept running after nothing while shouting her stupid name. Jenna, Jenna! Like he was possessed. And I really did think he was in that moment, cause there was no one there. I wish I had the power to burn her name just so she could burn in real life. Everything I tried to do to push him farthe
CHAPTER 102ROB’S POVThese past few weeks have been hell for me. I made sure not to stay in that house during those weeks. Sometimes I’d rent cheap motels when I got tired of sleeping in the car and entertain myself to whores. Probably the only thing that kept me sane, at the same time kept me distracted. I thought today was going to be a repeat of my usual cycle, but the damn text already ruined it. My anger couldn’t be contained as I read through it. I hope you’re pumped for our wedding tomorrow, Robbie? I know you are because I’m dying for it to come. And P.S I took the liberty to get you a nice suit, with everything you’d probably need for the big day.Yours Lovely,Isabelle. That fucking woman! All this while she never talked about a date for the wedding and today’s the day she decides to drop the bomb. “Such a little devil.” I muttered. “Huh?”I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. I’d totally forgotten she was still here. “Nothing. Get the fuck off me.”She whimpered,
