CHAPTER 4

JENNA’S POV

Grandpa blew off a cynical laugh as he said, “ so you were real?” His eyes trailed to Rob’s bandaged hand. “You into sports?” He questioned, still eying his hand suspiciously.

I felt my heart drop into my stomach.

I turned to look at Rob, he gave a slight smirk as his eyes met mine.

Please don’t say I did that, oh God please.

“Oh no, my hand got caught in the door back at work, So yeah this” he waved his arm.

“Of course I am real, my cute little Jennie here really did a good one in keeping us a secret,” he grabbed onto my hand as he gave a light hearted laughter.

Little Jennie? No one’s fucking called me that since high school.

“Oh well, you missed starters, but you came just in time for the main course mr-?”

“Rob, Dimitri Rob” his voice resonated.

Everyone got settled in. It felt so real, the dinner, Rob by my side, I never believed I could pull this off.

“So how did you two meet?” Grandpa started.

“Can’t we have a quiet dinner without you interrogating, grandpa?”

“Common sweetie, I’m sure he is just curious about us,” Rob said.

“We actually met in a club” he shifted his gaze to me.

“Little missy here was a bit tipsy and as we’d have it, I ended up being her knight in shining armor,” he winked at me.

I found myself blushing at that little action. It was a lie, well we did meet in a club, but still.

“I actually saw her walk in and I knew from there I had to get her for myself,”

Okay now that was very cliché. I tried to hold back a giggle.

“I’m guessing she had loads of-“

“Tequila!” Both chorused as they stared at each other in amusement.

I think he’s warming up to Rob.

Grandpa’s voice dropped to a low tone as he leaned forward “ where do you work, Rob?”

“Uhm, I actually work as a manager at RD companies,”

I paused as I almost choked on the vegetable I just put in my mouth.

I started feeling nervous and didn’t notice when my legs started to shake.

Huge hands started to rub my legs. My eyes dilated. I turned to look at Rob as he nodded his head signaling me to calm down.

What does he mean he works at RD companies?

Like the RD companies we’ve been trying to partner with for a long time? As much as I was shocked, I was also amazed.

I could have sworn I’ve met the manager of RD companies and he doesn’t look anything like the person eating dinner with my family.

Or maybe he got fired and then replaced with Rob? I shrugged. Well I’ve got more issues to worry about now other than that.

Grandpa’s face gleamed with delight.

“My, my isn’t that amazing? And why am I coming to know of this now?” His gaze narrowed to my direction.

“Uhm-uhm,” I stuttered.

Rob stretched his hand to mine and gave it a light squeeze. “I’m sure Jennie didn’t want to mix business with pleasure hence why she kept it a secret. Isn’t that right honey?”

“Uh yeah, right”. I confirmed, giving a slight nod.

“Well that makes us very much acquainted then. We’ve been planning to partner with your company for a while now, and seeing you’re going to be in our family soon makes it much easier”.

“That’s for sure sir”.

“Quit the formalities, I’m not that old, you can call me O’Neil” grandpa spoke in his crackling old voice.

If it wasn’t for the grey hair and beards, grandpa would definitely pass as being 40.

I shot him an eye.

He gave off a light hearted laugh “Give your old man a break, girl.”

“ So….” He paused to sip into his wine. “ I want to assume you’re both planning a wedding soon,” grandpa shot a look at both of us.

What is this old man up to again? He asked to see my boyfriend, now he wants us married? This couldn’t have gotten any worse.

“Not yet grandpa,” I blurted.

His gaze shifted to Rob, staring with a questioning look.

“Rob?”

“What she’s trying to say is, with the job I have currently, getting married isn’t really a priority right now”. He continued. “ I really wouldn’t want to put your lovely granddaughter in a life of discomfort.”

“Ohh, I see,”

Yess, way to go Rob. I didn’t even notice when I blew out a sigh of relief.

“Well then, we’d go ahead with the wedding preparations”. Grandpa said with a sinister smile.

“What?” We both called out at the same time.

“I don’t think you heard Rob right grandpa, his job isn’t enough to think of starting a family right now. I think you should give us more time to think this through.” At this point I could feel my heart thud so loudly.

Our expressions suddenly filled with confusion. This shouldn’t be happening.

I suddenly felt bad for dragging poor Rob into this. The plan was to come here and play pretend boyfriend for a couple hours and everyone goes their way, live their fucking goddamn life not getting married.

I could see Rob starting to become visibly uncomfortable.

“Grandpa, I think you’re just filled with too much excitement,” Rob chimed in. “Jenna and I need more time to think this through, you see.”

“Nonsense,” grandpa said as he paused to sip into his wine. “Son! Money isn’t our problem here. Take it as me being generous to my soon to be son-in-law.”

I got cut off, just when I was about to speak.

“That’s final.”

“So it’s settled then, you both are getting married nextweek” he continued. “A toast, to our soon to be weds,” he raises he glass up in the air.

Glasses clicked together, the only thing I can think of is how woefully my plan failed.

My gaze turned to Rob. His expression was flat, straight, anything you’d want to call something that lacked emotion.

Just when I thought I was the player, rather I got played.

CHAPTER 115JENNA’S POV“We’ve got at least three meetings coming up this week, two are already scheduled for today,” Angie utters quickly, her head bent downward as she continues to scroll on her laptop that’s wedged in between one arm. In all my years of working, I never felt this much pressure. I’m forced to pinch the bridge of my nose as I incline my seat backward. “What time is it?”“An hour and 30 minutes and another by 3pm.” I let out a sigh. This was what I’d prayed for so I couldn’t complain even if I wanted to. On the plus side it kept my mind far away from thinking about Rob. That night with him, the feel of his lips on mine again, his touch…….I shouldn’t even be thinking about that. The night we both shared last week was a mistake. I shouldn’t have let it happen, and that probably made Rob think he had another chance. The last few days had been filled with several calls and messages from him which I’d successfully ignored until now. Another flood of messages had just

CHAPTER 114ROB’S POVIt's been almost a week since I last spoke with Phil and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t dying to hear from him again. I’d left in a hurry and totally forgotten to ask for his contact. “Coffee sir?” The blonde waitress that’d been serving the guy next to me finally came up to my table. Her smile was almost fake. I could see it fading. She hated her job. I hated my life. We shared one similarity. “One coffee please.” Or fuck it, who was I kidding? “Make that a beer instead.” If I weren’t staring directly into her eyes, I’d have missed that flicker of confusion. “Right away!” She said, before vanishing behind the huge black doors. I let out a huge breathy sigh. I was exhausted but not from any manual work. I was exhausted from running, pretending like I didn't already know the truth. Every second I saw Isabelle and the thought of strangling out the rest of what I didn't know from her mouth obstructed my thinking. So yeah, leaving my comfort to hide out in thi

CHAPTER 113ROB’S POVThey’ve both been sitting inside that little restaurant for more than an hour. I swiped a stream of sweat away from my forehead. The scorching heat that came with summer wasn’t something I was a fan of. I really wanted to go closer, to know what exactly they were meeting up for, but watching them from my car seemed to be the best option, since the area was very open, and you could even see through the restaurant itself. I picked up my phone, glancing through my notifications to see if Jenna had probably texted or called. It was all pointless at the end, given I’d checked my phone every second since she’d left me the other day. Was this how she wanted us to live? As strangers now? We had a chance of starting new, yet she chose to ghost on me again. “Fuck this,” I blew a sigh, pinching the bridge of my nose as I thought on what to do next. A distant chime alerting my notice almost immediately. Shit! How was I about to miss them leaving? I bolted out of the car

CHAPTER 112ISABELLE’S POV“Where the hell have you been?” Damien darted over his watch, his shoes tapping furiously on the floor. The sound of his shoes hitting the ground slowly setting me on edge. “I think the question you should be asking is what the hell happened to me?” My eyes rolled as I pulled out a chair to sit. A silent breath I didn’t realize I was holding escaped my lips. Besides I was tired of meeting up here, it was too local and so many eyes wouldn’t stop peering over their goddamn shoulders. It felt like I was in a spotlight with that many eyes. “Are you serious?” He asked almost sarcastically. “Fine, I’m going to indulge you. What happened to you my queen,” There was no concern whatsoever in his tone, but I didn’t care. Not like I needed his sympathy anyway. “Well for one, there’s no way you could expect I’d take in such news without feeling overwhelmed and two, I lost my fucking phone in my fucking house!”Damien scoffed, clearly not seeing what I’d said as impo

CHAPTER 111ROB’S POVThe sharp pain shooting through my skull drives me awake earlier than I expected. My hand clutching my forehead tightly as though the pain would magically go away. Just when I’d thought I was already better last night. “You need to cut down on drinking, Rob.” I mutter quitely, even though I find myself chuckling seconds later. Drinking was the only way I could cut myself out of some shitty reality. Maybe when I finally found a reason to remain sober, I would. That’s right! A reason!I jerk roughly towards the other raise of the bed. She isn’t there. Jenna was gone. I scramble out of the bed, bolting all the way into the bathroom. Maybe she just needed a bath. There was no way she could have left so early. The door creaked open without me touching it. There was no need for me checking. If she were there, I’d have heard sounds. Now the only sounds I was hearing was that of my heart hitting hard against my chest. I really thought I had her. That she was back t

  • ESCAPING THE BILLIONAIRE TO MARRY HIM   Do I want him back?

CHAPTER 110JENNA’S POVMy mind was made up, I didn’t care if I was playing a gamble this time. His hand slides down my arms, pushing them backwards so he’s clutching my wrists with one hand. The other hand trails the side of my neck. I’m enjoying the cold sting of his fingers on my warm skin. Our lips break free and his eyes hovers around my bare neck, like a vampire ready to bite on his prey. The sharp prick of his teeth against my neck have me writhing for more rather than groaning in pain. His velvety lips drop small kisses on my little neck bite. The wetness from his tongue slowly cancelling out the stingy sensation from the bite. I push my body even closer to him obscenely. I find his mouth, this time taking control of those luscious addictive lips. The soft moans he makes in between kisses keeps intensifying the heat between my legs. Soon enough I’m sure my pants would start to flare up from how aroused I was. Everything happening didn’t seem like I remembered before. It
