ISABELLA’S POV

I knew asking Kelvin to stay was a tricky move, but it was for the best. My heart was too soft to turn him down, not after knowing his story. I would be like the monsters he feared if I did. Besides, he was there for me on days when no one was willing to show up. Just like Mireille, he was my best friend now, a part of my family, too.

But boy, oh boy.

Alaric’s face was scrunched in a frown as he sat opposite me, his spoon clinking against the plate. He was barely eating anything, just staring at the food.

I knew I shouldn't notice. Nor care because it was seemingly for the best. We needed to keep our sexual urges out of our field of decision-making. I needed to be sure that forgiving and letting him back in was right. The best thing to do. If his mother meant every word or this was just an attempt to get me back in, only to torment me some more. I needed to be sure if what I felt for him was sex-related or if our love was more profound than that.

THIRD PERSON’S POVMaybe leaving the house had been too harsh, but it was all she could do to stop the guilt she felt. Why, she had no answer. The thought that Bianca already had it tough was enough pain. Now that she was standing in front of John’s very tall house, she was starting to doubt going in. When she had called him to ask where Bianca was now, she was told she had been discharged. How long was she intending to stay here? She had no idea but hoped it wouldn't be for long. Her heart was aching just at the reality of being away from him. The night before had been nothing but hell for her.Pressing the bell, she waited for it to open, and it did, revealing John, his eyes sunken. His eyes trailed over me.“I believe you need help.” She shrugged her shoulders and concealed her nervousness with a laugh. He had many questions, but he stepped aside to let her in.“You can take any room upstairs. She is resting.” Isabella nodded, her eyes running over the house. It smelled like laven

ALARIC’S POVMy woman wasn't picking up her calls or returning my messages.I clicked the power button for the umpteenth time as I sat there with my lawyers, zoning out from what they were saying. I was sitting in their office, on the second floor of the building.“Are you here with us, sir?” I heard one of them say, and I raised my eyes to see them staring at me.“Yeah.” I cleared my throat, shoving the phone in my pocket. “Where were we?” They sent one another a look, then back at me.“We submitted the list to the police, who met with most of them. Some are out of the country presently. We barely got anything out of them except the fact that they ran different chains of businesses all around the world. No one has a bad record with them.”I pinned my lips together as I hummed. “So does that help with the case?” The tall lady shook her head, and I sighed in frustration. “Everything of use?” I pressed further. They shook their heads.“But if we keep trying…”I raked my fingers thro

ALARIC’S POVMy wife wasn't speaking to me. She had spent the night in another room, leaving me on the bed, which had now become huge and cold. Somehow, I had forgotten this stubborn part of her—the adamant side.“You have to bring her back.” She wouldn't stop hammering, but I couldn't.As much as I wanted to brace up and take everything like a grown-up, I was human, and blood flowed through my veins. The ache was raw, and it stung like a sour tomato. There wasn't a rule that stated children had to forgive their parents, especially when they made their childhood a nightmare and suddenly decided to be happy. Was that it? What got me riled up was that she couldn't wait to start a new life. A life she stole from Alaric. He wouldn't have been in the car without helping me run away from our mother. If she had stopped hitting me now and then, she would have made him sad. My head throbbed as I pushed myself out of bed. I had barely slept a wink all night, and half of it was spent walking

THIRD PERSON POVBianca was lying on the bed, something strapped to her right arm, and the machine beeping softly while John sat there, holding onto her left hand like it was all he needed to breathe, his chest was heavy, and his breathing rough with every second that day. The doctor had said she was lucky and that she had a close call with death.“She should wake up soon.” He had informed before leaving the room to attend to other patients. And so John held onto that hope and vowed never to leave her side. “Please wake up, love.” He mumbled under his breath, his fingers shaking as he moved some strands of hair away from her face to avoid her being in discomfort. His eyes rested on her cracked, dry lips, and tears stung his eyelids. She looked so peaceful. Bianca was a sweet soul who didn't deserve all this. The door slid open, but he didn't raise his head to look in that direction.“She isn't waking up, doctor.” His voice trembled slightly like a cold leaf while trying to brace hims

THIRD PERSON POVIf anyone had told John he would be storming into his brother’s house to save his wife, he would have cackled out loud at the joke. He didn’t bother to ring the doorbell; he just shoved it open, his gun now visible in his right hand.“Bianca!! " he yelled, not knowing where to go. The house was huge. He was pacing up and down when Mr Wolfe and Mirabella walked down the stairs, each so close to the other, and her hair was disheveled. She was struggling to straighten her dress, which meant they were having sex. John’s insides coiled at the thought. The moment she sighted the gun, she stepped behind her man’s back. “What right do you have to constitute a nuisance in my house?” Mr Wolfe bellowed, his anger raging from his tone.John clenched his jaw and wrapped his fingers around it tightly.“The same you have to hurt my woman.” He seethed.Mr Wolfe’s eyes shot daggers at him as he walked off the stairways and closed in some gap between them. He was bellowed by the auda

THIRD PERSON’S POVBy the time Bianca woke up, she was clutching her stomach in pain. Her body was a bit weak, and that was when it dawned on her that she had not eaten anything all day. Now, the sky had turned pitch black. Her medication was untouched, too. Having the urge to quench her thirst and use her drugs, she pulled herself out of bed and headed toward the door. Grabbing the doorknob, it doesn't shake, no matter how many times she turns it. It was locked.By someone.Panic shot through her as her eyes widened, and she could see everything turning against her. Death seemed nearer than usual, and tears clutched onto her lashes as she found herself shaking her hand. Her hands were trembling. “Open this door!!” Her voice was high, but no matter how many minutes passed, no help came. The pain was hitting like a blow, each thrust deeper than the last, and her legs weakened like marshmallows underneath her frame. Gradually, her vision blurred like a pair of broken lenses, with her
