Chapter 3 Sassy mother in-law

Chapter 3

The darkness surrounding her seemed to never end as she walked.

Everything seemed so surreal to her, she tried to speak, but it seemed her tongue got tied up that she couldn't even move her mouth, and anytime she tried to force herself she ended up feeling unspeakable pains.

It felt like it had been a long time since she had been in that kind of strange situation or was it not?

Almost immediately, the ray of light glittering shone brightly on her face, making her awake to the strange place she was in.

She followed the direction of the light until it intensified. Her throat was aching so much that she had pain in breathing.

“Jake, are you there?”

“Jake, where are you?”

“I can't find you. Where are you?”

Her voice wasn't heard, even though she was speaking out.

“N. No, I have to leave this place…”

She wanted to escape from where she felt to be alone, which was more terrifying than she could ever imagine.

After what seemed like forever, she stood in front of a glaring light that was shining brightly, and she was immediately blinded by the intensity of the light. Before she could think of anything, there was a sudden flash ….

Panting heavily.

Avery's eyes were opened when she realized she was on her feet like a statue, her ball dilated in shock as she wondered where she was, and she was on her feet.

“I…I’m ..back alive…” she stuttered, still looking confused.

Even though her throat was parched, it hurt so much for her to utter a word, but she didn't bother much about the pain and tried to breathe in and out despite the ache in her throat.

Amidst her thought, she suddenly began hearing the sounds of something being ripped off her body thoughts which made her conscious of her surroundings, and the moment she looked in a particular direction her gaze instantly landed on a woman who seemed to be in her mid-sixties and was richly dressed with different accessories on her body.

Avery could see her sitting style, which was completely different from other sitting styles she had seen. Judging by everything, she instantly concluded that the woman was definitely a rich person.

“ Mrs Eileen, take off your underwear,” said one of the servants.

“Huh, what do you mean, Miss?” She stuttered before turning around to look at the person and, surprisingly, Avery could recognize the lady as a maid even without her saying so, though the lady's attire says it all.

Avery was more surprised but not as surprised when it suddenly occurred to her that she had been called a name that was totally different from hers, so she couldn't help but wonder whether she was missing out on something.

“What did you just call me, Miss?” Avery asked the servant lady just to be sure she hadn't misheard her.

The servant instantly smiled awkwardly when she heard Eileen call her a miss and she had to wonder to herself whether there had been a bolt that was loose from her brain.

“Mrs Eileen, is there something wrong?” She asked, emphasizing the word ‘ Mrs Eileen’ so that Avery was able to get what she was saying.

Looking down, she noticed the ripped floral gown on the floor which was looking torn. Looking at the long white floral gown one would know it screams thousands of dollars.

“Whose dress is that? And why did you rip it off like that? Don't you know the quality of the material?” Avery asked with her eyes widened in surprise as she bent over to take the dress and was surprised by the dress's texture.

“That's your wedding gown and besides, you ordered it to be ripped off your body instantly.” Said the servant as she glanced at her madam who was seated majestically on the king-sized bed.

The servant couldn't help but carefully glance at the rude popular actress who was adorned by thousands of fans. She couldn't clearly remember how she spoke rudely about ripping off the dress, and now she was complaining.

“What? I ordered you to rip off the dress or what are you saying?” Avery asked as she found it unbelievable.

“Yes, you said it's disgusting to your sight and ordered it to get ripped off, which your mother-in-law accepted.”

“Mother-in-law?” Avery trails off when she realizes someone else is still with them inside the room, looking at her with no emotion on her face.

Avery smiled awkwardly as she found the whole situation interesting. She could clearly remember being shot and how she was alone in a dark place and also with a new name: “My wedding dress? My mother-in-law?” She mumbled slowly to herself.

“Are you done with your drama, Eileen?” The woman asked as she gracefully stood up and sauntered towards Avery in front of her heels, making a very loud sound.

“D…rama…” she stuttered as she rubbed her palms together at his nervousness.

“Why are you suddenly agitated, Eileen? I can clearly remember how you were running your mouth on the court, did your tongue get tied up so that you couldn't even speak, huh?” Mrs Smith said with a sly smile.

Avery thought for a second after breathing in and out before deciding to speak. “After all, no matter how I detest your son, I have been forced by my parents to marry your good-for-nothing son who is lying lifeless in co…..”

Avery was unable to finish her words when a resounding slap landed on her face. Strangely, she didn't feel remorseful for what she had said, rather she smirked evilly at her so-called mother-in-law.

“You bastard, how dare you speak to me in that way, huh?”

“Are you aware that without Smith backing up your family's reputation, everything would have been destroyed!” The woman lashed out angrily.

Surprisingly, Avery had just spoken out what was on her mind even without thinking about what she could say, it was like the response was suddenly brought to her. She never thought her words would weigh to that extent.

“Could it be that Eileen's memory is colliding with mine?” She thought after some seconds.
