Chapter 13

"Wife?" Elton sneered, shoving Jill to the floor.

His voice was as cold as ice. "I only wish I'd seen your true colors sooner. We're done! My lawyer will meet you to sign the divorce agreement in prison."

Police sirens wailed outside. Two cars pulled up.

Jill screamed, incredulous. "Are you insane? You called the police on me? I told you it was just a prank. There is no damage done to Lillian."

"Your people tried to assault her, and you planned it. The evidence is clear. Save your excuses for the judge," Elton said without sparing her another glance.

He strode to the door and opened it.

Jill fought as the officers dragged her away, her perfect makeup smeared with tears. She cursed Elton, then begged.

She couldn't fathom how everything had fallen apart.

The house fell silent.

Elton collapsed onto the couch, leaving the door open.

As night fell, he still sat there without turning on the light, haunted by thoughts of Lillian.

He started to realize that he didn't love Jill.
