Grace’s POV

I woke up early today to visit a local hospital for an abortion because I can't keep the pregnancy. I wanted to avoid a large hospital to prevent anyone from recognizing me or finding out who I was to Victor.

“I'm sorry baby.” I said as I rubbed my hand on my tummy. I wasn't sure if I was doing the right thing, but still, I don't want to raise a child in a loveless relationship.

Luckily, Victor had already left for work, and I was relieved that I didn't have to pause to answer questions about where I was going or beg to leave the house.

I ordered a ride instead of using the car Victor had made available for me to use whenever I wanted to leave the house. I needed to keep this a secret as much as I could.

As I walked into the hospital, my heart started to race. I had prepared myself before leaving home, so why was I feeling so anxious now?

I felt even more frightened when it was my turn to see the doctor. My eyes were already filled with tears. I wanted to back out but the

“We are so sorry, but we can’t employ a pregnant woman,” the manager said. This had always been the case, and it used to be so heartbreaking. I mean, what’s the issue with hiring a pregnant woman? I wasn’t sick; I was simply pregnant, for goodness' sake. “Sir, I promise you, I’m not a lazy pregnant woman. I’m hardworking, and you will never regret employing me, believe me,” I said, pleading, but it felt like he was determined not to hire a pregnant woman. I didn’t include my job experience on my CV because I wanted to avoid any questions about why I had left a big company in the West Coast to start a new life in the Midwest. I rose slowly from my seat and walked out of the company, my heart in pieces. At that moment, I decided it would be best to leave my certificate behind and start my own little business. I headed straight to George's canteen, hoping he would be willing to advise me on the kind of business I could start up. Getting to the canteen, I found it locked which was un

  • Eleven Months As My CEO's Wife   Chapter Thirty

Grace's POV Often, my mind would drift back to the lavish life in Victor’s house. Although I wasn’t born into wealth, my mother provided me with a life that was far better than the one I ended up living. But, knowing that I was doing it all for my twins helped me push those memories aside. I had woken up quite early to hit the streets and submit my CV to various companies once again. I had done this countless times, but I still hadn’t landed a job, and I was running low on money. All the money I had saved up went towards antenatal care and medication for both my health and that of my babies. Every company I applied to turned me down, even after I aced the interviews; once they learned I was pregnant, they lost interest. It wasn’t easy, but I kept pushing. As I gulped down the last of my coffee, my gaze shifted to my already protruding belly. I placed my hands on it, rubbing gently as I prayed that nothing would go wrong during the birth. I had heard about complications during labo

Victor’s POV “Woman, don’t be foolish,” I said, approaching her with a fire of anger burning within me. “I don’t know where you got the idea about my mother, but you can't trick me.” My rage was boiling; if she weren’t an elder, I would have grabbed her by the throat and knocked her teeth out. “Next time you come here and say something like that, you’ll end up in jail,” I warned, signaling my bodyguard to throw her out as I walked out of the living room. I could hear her voice echoing as she was taken away, and I could also hear my bodyguard hitting her to silence her, but she kept shouting, “I’m sorry I left you,” until her voice faded into silence. She only fueled my anger and frustration. If she knew how furious I became at the mention of my mother’s name, she wouldn’t have dared to come and tell such a lie. “Your father never tells you she died; what if she’s the one?” Anthony said on the phone after I explained what had happened. “Anthony, I don't think any woman in her rig

Victor’s POVI had been incredibly frustrated. My private investigator was unable to uncover any information about Grace's whereabouts. I was deeply troubled and scared that she might have gone through with the abortion.I barely made it to work since I was constantly at the police station or having meetings with my private investigator.I was busy with my private investigator when I got a call from Taylor. He reached out to let me know they had taken Vera into custody, inviting me to come see her so I could be there during her questioning.I rushed over, anger boiling inside me, ready to lash out at her if I discovered she was hiding Grace.“Victor, if it weren’t for this case, I wouldn’t have seen you in my office,” Taylor said with a laugh as we shook hands.“I was surprised when I heard you got married. What prompted that?” Taylor asked, chuckling.“Let’s drop that, Taylor. We need to focus on why I’m here,” I replied, adjusting my seat.“Right, she’s in the detention area. Let’s

Grace's POVI woke up to the sound of a beeping machine with its cuff wrapped around my arm. A drip was also passed into my veins. “What is happening?” I muttered as I glanced around the room. Seeing two people in the room with me, both receiving drips, made me realize I was in the hospital. I managed to sit up but my head hurts so bad so I lay back on the bed.“How did I get here?” I asked myself but I couldn't remember anything. I closed my eyes deeply, hoping to remember what brought me to the hospital but my mind was blank. Just then, a petite nurse entered the room with a man beside him and walked towards my bed, smiling.“Thank God you are finally awake.” The man said, while I just stared at him, trying to see if I knew him. The nurse moved to the beeping machine, checked the readings and wrote them down in the folder she was holding.“How are you doing ma’am.” She asked me with a smile.“My head hurts. What am I doing in a hospital.” I asked. She reassured me to calm down a

Victor’s POV I had been away for a week, staying at my hotel, but I told Grace I was going for a business meeting. Don’t judge me; she was beginning to suspect that I was being dishonest, and I didn’t want to be harsh with her over the questions she kept asking. The only option I had was to leave the house. When I returned, all my security personnel rushed toward me, their faces marked by somber expressions and fear. They kept their heads bowed, avoiding gaze with me as they welcomed me.“What's the problem?” I asked, my eyes scanning all of them. They began to stammer, none of them was able to speak up. I got fed up and decided to leave them, instructing their head to get back to me whenever they finally decided to tell me what the problem was.The sight that greeted me when I entered my house sent a chill down my spine; all my maids were trembling with fear at the mere sight of me. This wasn’t how it used to be. Although they feared me, it was never to the point of shaking just fro
