"Happy birthday, Galvan!"

The crisp clashing of champagne glasses rose and fell in my penthouse.

I smiled as I looked at my husband. He was surrounded in the center by a group of men in suits and ties, each complimenting his "promising future". He had climbed the ranks to become a mid-level member of the Falcone family, the largest mafia, with hopes of becoming a capo.

The upper-class elites of Kavrion gathered together, along with hidden family members.

"Marisa, you really married the right person. I heard that Galvan is going to be promoted soon." The wife of a jeweler came close to me.

I nodded gracefully and picked up the champagne to take a small sip. As a world-class art connoisseur, such social occasions were all too familiar to me.

"Indeed, Galvan is very talented," I replied politely, but deep down I was tired of these compliments.

"Honey, come here for a moment." Galvan waved at me with a smug smile. He wore the suit I had custom-made for him tonight. His silver cufflinks shone beneath the crystal chandelier.

I walked toward him and habitually adjusted his tie. "What's the matter?"

He put his arm around my waist and whispered in my ear, "Nothing. I just want you to meet high-society elites with me."

I reached out to adjust his cufflinks. The moment my fingers touched a cufflink, a violent dizziness hit me, as if an electric current passed through my brain.

Suddenly, an unfamiliar voice echoed in my mind. 'Tracy's body is irresistible. Those long legs and that waist are so much better than that icy Marisa.'

I jerked my head up to look at Galvan. He was smiling gently at me as if those lewd thoughts had never existed.

Tracy was one of his female employees. He... What was this? A hallucination?

Galvan thought, 'Hopefully, Marisa didn't notice the bloodstains on my cufflinks. That idiot last night deserved it.'

My heart pounded as I forced myself to maintain a calm facade. Were these voices... Galvan's inner monologue?

I looked around the living room, trying to comprehend what had just happened. Suddenly, more voices flooded my mind like a tidal wave.

'Galvan's a freeloader. If it weren't for his rich wife, Marisa, supporting him, what would he be? Just a nobody in the family.'

'Marisa's art collection is so enviable. If only I could get my hands on them.'

'The lobsters tonight aren't fresh enough, but who dares complain?'

'How much did this party cost? Marisa's art business must be doing very well.'

I could hear everyone's thoughts! This supernatural ability both shocked and excited me. Behind everyone's smiles lay all sorts of secrets and malice.

Suddenly, an unfamiliar thought entered my mind.

Reuben, Tracy's boyfriend, who was a low-level driver working odd jobs for the family. He wore an ordinary black suit, making him look out of place. Most customers ignored him as if he were invisible.

When I focused on listening to his thoughts, what I heard shocked me the most!

'How am I supposed to explain to Tracy that I'm the heir to the Falcone family? Father's test is almost over. It's time to wrap things up!' Reuben wondered.

'What? This seemingly unremarkable man is the heir to the most powerful mafia family?' I thought as I turned to Tracy, who was standing next to Reuben.

The moment our eyes met, Tracy's thoughts made my blood almost freeze. 'Marisa doesn't know. What a stupid woman. Galvan and I have slept together countless times.

'That penniless Reuben's birthday present is an insult. A stupid wooden bird? He'll always be a low life. I've had enough of poverty.

'Galvan says he'll be a capo soon. I'll be the woman of a high-ranking mafia member soon. He said he loathes Marisa anyway. I'll have everything I want. As for that good-for-nothing Reuben, I've had enough of his pennilessness.'

I gripped the champagne glass tightly, my knuckles turning white. I always thought Galvan loved me and that our marriage was based on love.

'Tonight is the best opportunity. I'm going to break up with that peasant and throw myself into Galvan's arms.'

How interesting. She could not recognize a pearl in a haystack. If she knew Reuben was the heir to a mafia family, I wondered what her expression would be.

'He wouldn't dare to resist anyway. What can a lowly driver do?' Tracy pondered as she finally made up her mind.

"Surprised, Darling?" Tracy lay naked on my bed, showing off by stroking her slightly protruding belly.I returned from Eurona ahead of schedule, intending to give Reuben a surprise, but instead I discovered this scene.Ten years had passed, and I had become the true godmother and mastermind behind the Falcone family. I helped Reuben eliminate all his enemies, consolidate the family's position, and expand our influence. Our twins were now ten years old. Our children grew up well. Now, my husband was with this woman."Marisa..." Reuben came out of the bathroom, somewhat surprised. "You're back. Listen to my explanation. Nothing happened."I found it funny. The condoms were all over the floor, yet he told me nothing had happened."It seems so," I answered calmly, putting down the suitcase in my hand.Tracy smiled smugly. She was plumper than she was ten years ago but still maintained an alluring figure. "I'm pregnant. It's Reuben's baby."'Finally, I finally won! This time I'm

"Please... Marisa... Help me..." Galvan appeared outside my studio in a wheelchair.Six months had passed, and he was no longer the spirited man he once was. He was filthy and rugged with plaster casts on his legs—he looked just like a street beggar.'Damn it! How could I have ended up in this situation... It's all because of that despicable woman...' Galvan pondered.Over the past six months, I used my mind-reading power to help Reuben win battle after battle in the mafia family power struggle. Reuben's position became increasingly stable, and I also became the person he trusted the most. We tacitly agreed not to make our relationship public, but we had gotten much closer.Galvan was completely removed from the list for embezzlement of company funds and betrayal of the family."Considering that we were once husband and wife..." He licked his chapped lips, and his voice was hoarse. "Help me... I know I was wrong... "'Once she relents, I'll have the chance to hold her hostage an

"You b*tch!" Tracy stared at me with red eyes, her makeup distorted by anger. She hysterically said, "You knew it long ago, didn't you? You knew Reuben's identity long ago! You insidious woman!""It's all her fault! If not for her, I'd be the girlfriend of the Falcone family heir by now! She's ruined everything for me."I looked at her calmly and took out lipstick from my bag to touch up my makeup. "What do you want to say?""Stop pretending!" Tracy pointed at me, her fingers trembling with anger. "You knew Reuben's identity from the very beginning! You deliberately designed Galvan and me just to steal him!"She raised her hand and slapped me.I grabbed her wrist and slapped her back, causing blood to flow from the corner of her mouth."Ah!" Tracy screamed and covered her swollen cheeks. "How dare you hit me?"I grabbed her hair and pushed her face hard into the cold sink. I said coldly, "Who do you think you are? How dare someone who rose to power with her body lay a hand on me

"Marisa! You b*tch!" Galvan's voice rang in the banquet hall, disrupting the elegant atmosphere. As soon as I stepped into the venue of the annual peace dinner of the five families, I was stopped by my reckless ex-husband. He wore a smug smile as if the crushing defeat he had suffered in the company had never happened. The banquet hall was brightly lit and bustling with people coming and going."Move aside," I warned coldly.Galvan sneered and reached out to grab my arm. "Do you think you're still that lofty art connoisseur? Without me, you're nothing!"The guests around began to notice the commotion and started to discuss quietly. They were all gloating. "Galvan, you've drunk too much." I tried to bypass him, but he stood firmly in front of me."I drank too much? I'm clear-headed! I know all about your affair with that poor driver!" His voice grew louder and louder.'If I can make a big fuss here and let everyone know about Marisa's scandal, she's done for.'Tracy pushed her

"No... No way..." Tracy trembled as she picked up the documents and looked at the detailed transaction records on them. Every transaction was stated clearly: embezzled company funds to purchase luxury goods, money transferred to Galvan's personal account, and even her spending at high-end restaurants using the company's credit card."Stop! All of these are fake! You forged them!" Tracy screamed.'Oh no, all these records are true. How could I have forgotten that the bank has records... Damn it! I thought no one would find out,' Tracy thought."Forged? How about we let the police verify them?" I sneered.Onlookers began to whisper to each other."Gosh! Tracy actually embezzled company funds...""This is a serious crime...""No wonder she bought so many luxury goods recently..."Just then, Galvan rushed out of the office with a sullen expression. It was obvious that he had had a few bad days."Give me the documents!" He pounced on me frantically, trying to snatch away the eviden

"Are you waiting for me?"Downstairs, Reuben was leaning against the car door, a cigarette in his hand. The morning light shone through the thin mist onto him, making him seem even more mysterious and dangerous."A wise woman is always worth the wait." He flicked off his cigarette butt as he fixed his gaze on me. "Do you want to see Galvan get the lesson he deserves?"I took out a black chip from my bag; it had my unique contact information on it. "Call me when you’re ready."Reuben took the chip and gently stroked my chin with his long fingers. His touch carried a dangerous temperature. "I look forward to working with you, Marisa."His touch made my cheeks slightly warm, and my heart raced for no reason."Interesting... This woman is far more intriguing than those who rely solely on their physical appearance, like Tracy," Reuben thought."Aren't you going to ask me what I want in return?" I looked into his eyes."A wise woman knows when to ask for something. I trust your judg
