Lucien's POV

Right before getting out of the car, as if she just remembered something, Eira Primrose turned around to remind me, "Oh, and don't call me in the middle of the night again. The boytoy I'm seeing tonight has a bit of an ego, and he's hard to appease. I don't want anything to ruin my mood."

I forced a smile and silently indicated that I understood. Eira, however, wasn't satisfied. Cocking her brow, she asked, "What's with the face? I already kicked out the person who made a scene in front of you. I even had the latest Patek Philippe delivered to your office. Isn't that enough for you to move on? Tell me, what is it you actually want?"

I quietly handed her a transfer agreement. "I want this parcel of land. I intend to build a manor so I can go there to unwind in the future."

Eira studied me for a long while before curling her lips. "Luc, sometimes... I miss the old you."

After signing her name decisively, she slammed the car door shut with a loud thud, cutting herself off from my world.

Gripping the steering wheel, I smiled, though bitter irony welled up inside me.

Eria missed the old me? Did she miss our wedding night, when she came home covered in hickeys left by another man and watched me fly into a rage and smashed our new home to pieces? Or did she miss the pathetic state I had fallen into after catching her in bed with others time and again—how my fear drove me to harass people in the middle of the night just to find her, only to be branded a lunatic?

However, back then, my breakdowns had never earned even a shred of her sympathy. All I ever received from her was annoyance and ridicule.

Eira had always massaged her temples and asked me, "I've given you my hand in marriage and my love. What more do you want?"

Every year before this, all I wanted was her undivided devotion. All I wanted was for her to be faithful and cut ties with other men. Yet, now, none of it mattered anymore.

Beneath the transfer agreement was the divorce agreement. Moments ago, she had casually signed it without taking a look at the contents. Staring at her signature, I let out a deep, long sigh.

I started the engine and set off. When I reached a long downhill stretch, I instinctively stepped on the brakes, but they did nothing at all.

My vehicle accelerated rapidly. Realizing that I was about to crash head-on into an oncoming vehicle, I threw caution to the wind and yanked the steering wheel hard.

The moment our cars narrowly missed each other, I caught a clear glimpse of the people inside. It was Eira. Her porcelain arms were draped around the neck of the man in the driver's seat as she coyly offered her cherry-red lips to him.

The very next second, my car veered off and slammed into a tree trunk by the side of the road. The impact drove my forehead against the steering wheel, and an excruciating pain tore through my entire body as if my internal organs had been displaced.

By the time I managed to lift my head again, the taillights of that car had already disappeared from my rearview mirror. I sat there in a daze for a moment before leaning down to feel around for whatever had jammed the brakes.

It was a tangled, crumpled black tie. There were even traces of white residue on it that hadn't dried yet.

Gaping at the crumpled fabric in my hand, I abruptly flung it away as if I had been burned. Nausea hit me like a violent wave rolling in my gut.

I could no longer maintain the composure I had forced myself to maintain. Bracing myself against the tree, I threw up until the rims of my eyes turned red.

As it turned out, during the two hours it took her to pick me up from the hospital, she couldn't even stop herself from having a quickie with another man. Eira made me feel disgusted and so completely foreign; she was nothing like the woman in my memories, who had carried me on her back to one hospital after another and knelt outside their doors when I had a high fever that made me lose my sight.

Blood from the wound on my forehead trickled into my eyes. I repeatedly wiped it away, suppressing the bitterness that was rising in my chest.

After giving my statement to the traffic police who had rushed to the scene, I was about to leave when a young officer caught me as I stumbled. "Sir, you look far too pale. I think you should call a family member to pick you up."

Clutching my head, I froze for a moment. Ever since Eira took me out of the orphanage when I was eight years old, she was the only family I ever had.

  • Ending Our Marriage in 30 Seconds   Chapter 10

Lucien's POVAt the time, I shook my head and beamed at Calliope. "I can't. My star's right here."Sadly, in a mere decade, everything had changed beyond recognition. Still, I looked up at her and earnestly said, "Thank you for being willing to help me." Had she not arrived in the nick of time that day after my car plunged into the ocean to pull me out of the sinking vehicle, I would most likely have become nothing more than bones at the bottom of the ocean. Calliope looked away as if it was no big deal, though her ears were burning bright red. "Don't sweat it. You kind of saved my life back then, too... Besides, we're partners now. Of course I should help you!"I couldn't help but chuckle and nod. The moment I decided to leave Eira, I had reached out to Calliope. I proposed becoming her business partner, offering my expertise in sports nutrition and biomechanical care tailored specifically for race car drivers. Looking back on it now, I felt a little sentimental. I guess I

Third-Person POVEira's touch was as gentle as a lover's caress, yet it made every hair on his body stand on end. "I know I fucked up. Please—"However, the force around his neck only tightened further. The unwillingness to accept his impending death fueled a self-destructive courage within him. He figured he had nothing left to lose and cackled. "As if you're any better than me! You're the one who gave me the opportunity to teach Lucien a lesson, remember? Why are you pretending to be a devoted wife now?"Now that he doesn't want you anymore, you got what you deserved! Besides, when I pushed your pitiful husband down the stairs that day, do you have any idea how much he bled? It practically soaked through his white shirt! "Where were you then? You didn't even hear his cries for help. I merely beckoned, and you crawled into my bed like a dog!" Eira's chest abruptly tightened. Recalling that day, when she had received the call informing him that Lucien had been hospitalized, sh

Lucien's POVEira stared long and hard at our intertwined hands. "So the reason you suddenly wanted a divorce was because of this bitch? You told me you loathed me for cheating on you, yet if you weren't infertile, I wouldn't have gone looking for other men! Look at what you're doing now. How are you any different from me back then?"Eyeing me mockingly, she reprimanded me matter-of-factly, as if my inability to give her a child was a perfectly valid justification for her unbridled affairs. Yet, she had never once stopped to ask me why we couldn't have children. Eira had simply used it as a convenient excuse to indulge in the thrill and excitement of the chase. Before I could retort, Calliope, who was beside me, had already lunged at her. "How dare you speak to him like that! If it weren't for you, Luci would never have suffered those injuries in the first place! Instead of reflecting on the cause, you brazenly brought your lover into your home and even indulged him when he pushed L

Lucien's POVThe moment Eira saw me, she could hardly believe her eyes. When I turned to leave, she strode up to me. "I knew you were still alive, Luc!" Her expression was filled with uncontrollable excitement. "You must've gone through so much while you were wandering out here all this time. Come on, I'll take you home."However, I avoided her outstretched hand and took a step back. "Please keep your hands to yourself, Ms. Primrose. We're divorced."Eira froze. "Excuse me?" My brows drew together, but I knew that since she had tracked me down, there was no way for me to avoid her any longer. So, I pulled up the social media post I had made to celebrate my new life on the day I received the divorce certificate. "See? We were no longer husband and wife as of two months ago."Eira stared blankly at the photo, muttering under her breath, "N-No, that's impossible! I've never signed—"Mid-sentence, realization struck her. She stared at me in utter disbelief. "Two months ago... What

Third-Person POVEira's question made Jaden flinch. He forced a smile. "Why would you think that?"Paying him no mind, Eira coldly ordered, "Pull up all the surveillance footage from that road on that day."The blood drained from his face in an instant. He thought he had enough time to cover his tracks. It never crossed his mind that Eira hadn't trusted him for a single second. In no time, Rowena returned with a laptop. When Eira watched the fiery-red car crash through the guardrail, her face darkened as if a storm was brewing. Even though she couldn't make out who was inside the vehicle because the footage was taken from afar, an uneasy feeling spread through her chest. Rowena leaned in to take a closer look. "Huh, isn't that Mr. Sinclair?" As soon as her words fell, she watched the car plunge straight into the ocean. In a heartbeat, her face twisted in sheer terror. "Mr. Sinclair… Why is he there?"Rowena whipped her head around to look at Jaden. "When I arrived at the

Third-Person POVBy the time Eira came to, the excruciating pain racking her body tore a sharp gasp from her throat. Clutching her forehead, she felt disoriented until a hand reached out from beside her and grabbed hold of her. Her gaze shifted toward Jaden, who was equally disheveled beside her, and her brows knitted together. "Who are you?"He froze for a moment before an overwhelming sense of joy washed over him.Eira appeared to have lost her memory, and Lucien was now missing. Wasn't this a golden opportunity for him to become Eira's husband?Suppressing his tumultuous emotions, he stroked her lower abdomen and hurriedly clarified, "I'm your husband, Eira. Quick, save our baby!"…Lying on the hospital bed, Eira stared blankly at the wedding ring on her finger. The deep indentation it left on her skin suggested that this marriage had lasted a long time. Yet, when she thought of the man in the room next door, all she felt was an indescribable sense of estrangement. The mome
