Keigh’s POV

“No way!” Julian pointed towards the left side of the restaurant. “Is that—”

I subtly positioned the stroller so Julian’s body blocked part of the view, giving us a little more cover. Daisy squirmed happily in her seat, completely oblivious to the tension unfolding around her.

“Daisy needs her fresh air now. Let’s head out,” I calmly said, stopping Julian from drawing any more attention from that table.

“Wait, that’s Ms. More—”

I grabbed him by the collar before he could finish and dragged him toward the exit. The waiter followed behind us with the menu still in his hand, looking confused, like he couldn’t decide whether to accommodate us or call security.

Julian was having a hard time matching my speed that he decided to give up and let me drag his weight out of the restaurant.

I chose the farthest seat from the entrance and released Julian as we got there.

“Mr. Russo! You didn't have to drag me out. Geez!” He complained, fixing his creased collar.

Isabella’s POVI smiled for what must’ve been the tenth time tonight, nodding as Noah talked about investments and stock market I really didn’t care about. He must have thought these topics were supposed to sound sexy. News flash, they didn’t.I stirred my drink absentmindedly, stealing a glance at the empty tables by the window. The restaurant was nice though—tucked behind artificial vines and glowing fairy lights. The kind of place you’d imagine in those cheesy romance movies where everything goes well.Clearly, I was cast in the unfortunate version. The fork had been scraping against my plate for far too long, and I only noticed when Noah stopped mid-sentence to glance at me.“Something wrong with the food?” he asked, still offering a humble smile. “Oh no,” I said quickly. “It’s really good. I just want to savour it, that’s all.”He smiled, seemingly convinced, and continued slicing his steak. “Anyway, how about you, Isabella? Do you have any hobbies?” “A few,” I answered without

Isabella’s POVAm I early, or is this guy just taking his sweet time? I tucked a loose strand of hair behind my ear and smoothed my skirt, trying to look composed. I thought being late on a blind date only happens in movies, apparently, because here I was, standing outside a hidden little restaurant that could have impressed me if only I was already inside sipping wine. Instead, I was waiting for someone I didn’t even know existed. Or maybe this is one of those no-show situations? I had a habit of overthinking everything, and blind dates were clearly no exception. I hated having to wrestle with a thousand scenarios just because some guy couldn’t show up on time.I crossed my arms and leaned lightly against the wall beside the receptionist bar, doing my best to look casual instead of like a ticking panic bomb.“Would you like a cup of water, Ma’am?” The waiter offered after several awkward eye contacts.I shook my head. “No, thank you.” I could feel my foot tapping against the fl

Julian blinked at me, then leaned sideways to peek into the stroller. “You have a baby?” His voice cracked somewhere between disbelief and suppressed laughter. “Since when? Is this why you always leave early and smile like an idiot on your phone sometimes?”I wish I had all the reasons to shut this guy up in the most brutal and fastest way. Julian was dressed in joggers and a sweat-darkened shirt, a pair of airbuds tucked in his ears. His hair was damp with sweat, slicked back just enough to look intentional. Looks like he was out jogging and accidentally jogged straight into my humiliation.I clenched my jaw. “It’s not what you think.”“Man, I can’t believe this.” He took out his phone grinning ear-to-ear. F*ck this. If looks could kill, Julian would’ve been in a body bag already.“Julian, if you still want to see the sun, I’d recommend you put that phone away,” I warned, already sensing what he’s up to.“Oh yeah? What are you gonna do?” He challenged me, still holding his

If anyone had told me a year ago that I’d be spending my weekday night pushing a stroller instead of carrying a gun, I’d have shot them on sight.Yet, here I was, struggling to buckle her seat belt without getting kicked on the face. “Hold still, you valkyrie.” I doubled my pace when Daisy stretched her limbs. Her radish legs were stronger than they looked, and her kicks perfectly timed to nearly dislocate my nose. “You do realize I’ve interrogated grown men with less resistance than this?”Daisy responded with a delighted squeal, her pink gums on full display. Once the stroller was ready, I tucked a small blanket around her as she gnawed on her fingers, eyes gleaming with excitement like she somehow knew we were about to go on a mission. Which, technically, we were. “Why do I get the feeling this isn’t just a stroll in the park?” The handler leaned on the doorframe, arms crossed, one brow raised in suspicion.I looked up from adjusting

“I call for a truce. I’ll be heading out early today.”Her voice sliced through the quiet office. Everyone had already clocked out, leaving us all alone on the floor. The sound of her heels echoed faintly against the tiles as she packed her things.I carried my bag and pushed the chair. “A truce? That’s odd. What are you up to?”She glanced at me briefly, her lips curving into that playful smirk. “A date.”It was two words, but it was enough to hit me harder than it should’ve. I kept telling my brain that it didn’t matter. That it was none of my business. But the thought of her laughing on a fine dining table with a man, obviously weaker than us, clawed somewhere deep in my chest.“A date?” I repeated. “But what about Daisy?” “Relax, Russo. I’ll only be out for dinner.” She didn’t even look up as she fixed the strap of her bag. “She has you for the meantime.”Of course, she trusts me. Under any other circumstance, I would feel flattered. But right now, her words cut through me sharpe
