A Gift

I tossed to the other side of the bed as I groaned in exasperation and irritation as a result of the slow steady knocks I got from the door of my room. I didn’t get enough sleep last night because I had been worried about Jericho, so I felt frustrated due to the disruption of sleep I got.

I knew I had to get up even though I didn’t want to. Slowly I sat up from my bed as a yawn made its way out of my lips. The knock persisted and it got me even more disgruntled.

“Fucking come inside already” I yelled and the door was opened. A maid walked in. a completely different maid from the ones that came the previous day.

With the tray firmly in her hand and fear visible in her_ maybe it had to do with how intently I stared at her_ she spoke. “I brought you…” she tried to speak, but I cut her short.

“Just drop it over there” I pointed at a table and she did as instructed.

“And I don’t want anything else,” I said because I was certain she was going to ask me that.
