LOGINAnna sat in the helicopter, her eyes puffy with tears. Somewhere deep within her, she wished the helicopter would crash. She couldn’t move an inch with her father’s men watching her.
It all felt like a terrifying nightmare to her, she prayed for it to end—but it was all real, too real. She had thought her life was already miserable but the rapid twist…, tears brimmed in the corner of her eyes.
In no time, the long-dreaded moment came. They arrived in Italy—Vincenzo Empire. They stopped at an airport, and the longer they waited for Vincenzo’s men to show up, the faster her heart beat in her ribcage.
The men’s keen eyes were on her—they knew if she managed to slip through their fingers, they would be dead.
And then they came—the men the Don had sent himself. The leader of her father’s men walked up to them, and they exchanged words in Italian, none of which she could understand.
One handshake was all it took for them to hand her over. Her body trembled, her blood ran cold.
She was led into a black SUV, and just like that, she was taken to the clan. The ride was long, and despite how deep into the night it was, she didn’t bat her lids. She couldn’t dare close her eyes.
A black gate stood tall and eerie, welcoming them. This was it—Vincenzo Clan. She shuddered. The dark gray walls made her phobia worsen. She could only imagine the terror awaiting her behind those gates.
The gates opened, and it was nothing like the Lorenzo Empire. Her forehead creased in fear and worry at the forest path that greeted them. Were they here to kill her? And dump her body somewhere?
Her hands shook as they drove past the path, thick forest on both sides. The forest seemed never-ending, stretching for miles. She swallowed. She was seated between two large men—she couldn’t bolt, and even if she managed to, she’d be shot down and wild animals would certainly gobble her up.
Thankfully, they passed the forest, and a large mansion greeted her. The gates opened, and they drove in. They were here—Vincenzo Empire.
She got out of the car, and they led her inside. The walls were dark gray, the ceilings high, and something thick lingered in the air. Golden dim lights, luxury, and power filled the place. But she wasn’t here to admire the antique decor—she was here to see the Don.
They led her to a lounge.
“Sit,” one of the men ordered.
Her eyes took in the room—glass walls, gray sofas, and an enigmatic chandelier hung from the high ceiling, casting golden lights.
Her body shook fervently. She was in enemy territory. Her eyes fell on the glass windows. She could jump, but the odds of ending up with a broken neck were very high.
Then the door pushed open, snapping her out of her thoughts.
Three bulky men stepped in, draped in expensive suits—and then he walked in. The Don of Vincenzo Empire. Her heart caught in her throat.
Midnight black hair, black eyes, features sharp, and a gaze as cold as death.
She had only seen him on the news once or twice—never had she thought she’d meet him in person. She straightened her back when his shrewd eyes landed on her.
“Miss Lorenzo,” his words were low but thick in the air. “Welcome.”
He dismissed his guards, and then it was just the two of them left in the room. His movements—everything he did—were poised and calculated. Well, he was the Don of the strongest mafia group in the world.
“I won’t harm you, little child. Loosen up those stiff little shoulders,” he chuckled. Anna wondered why he even bothered to pacify her. Why did he care?
“A… a pleasure meeting you, Don Vincenzo,” Anna stammered, her gaze lowered to the floor.
“Likewise.”
No more words were exchanged before the door flung open. An average-height but sturdy man stepped inside, his blonde hair ruffled, his green eyes burning with rage.
“Warn that fuckin’ piece of trash or I’ll break him in half,” he snarled.
Anna gulped. Was he the Don’s son—the one she was to marry?
The Don’s eyes flickered with annoyance. “Sit, Domenico,” he ordered. And even though the man was obviously angry, he didn’t dare defy the Don.
He sat in the chair closest to her, and then his eyes snapped to stare—no, glare—at her. Anna shrunk in her seat.
“Is she…” he half-questioned the Don.
“Yes, Domenico. This is Anna Lorenzo—your wife to be.”
Anna’s heart dropped. The way he stared at her after the air had been cleared—it felt like he wanted to engulf her in flames.
She parted her lips to speak, but then someone else stepped into the room.
Sturdy. Extremely tall. Midnight black hair. And those gray orbs. Anna felt cold sweat roll down her back. It was him—the murderer she had seen in that dark alley. His cologne instantly lit up the room. Anna almost couldn’t breathe.
Things constantly moved from bad to worse. Why was he here? Everyone knew the Don had only one son, whom he had just introduced—Domenico. So why was this killer here?
“You motherfucker—I’ll definitely kill you!” Domenico snapped, not giving a damn that Anna was in the same room.
“Hm? How did you know?” An enigmatic smirk rested on his lips. “Mother and I… had a good time.”
His words enraged Domenico even more, and he instantly sprang up, throwing a punch at him—but Leone easily caught it.
“Where’s your etiquette? You shouldn’t be doing this in the presence of our… visitor,” he drawled. Then his eyes fell on her.
Anna felt like her heart was about to leap from her chest. His eyes locked with hers. A smirk rested on his lips, but his gaze… as cold as the night they met.
“Anna, my second son…” Enzo drawled, as if his own words left a bitter taste in his mouth. “Leone.”
Chapter 272Massimo stood in front of the railing of the tall skyscraper. He took a sip from his glass of rum, savoring the bitter taste on his lips.“Boss,” an average-height man, Paul, hurried towards him, bowing deeply first before reporting. “The Redbull mafia group are still putting up a fight, along with the other four mafia groups contesting for the position. Pardon me if I’m speaking out of place, but wouldn’t it be wise to contact the Vicenzo mafia group? They would be solid backup.”“Seems like you no longer have use for your tongue.”His sharp retort had him clamping his mouth shut instantly. “Sorry, boss,” he quickly excused himself from his presence. He didn’t want anyone finding out about his plans or his presence in Sicily, and he had no plans of dragging Leone into this. This was why that girl seeing him was problematic for him, and it was truly a mystery why he didn’t kill her. It certainly wasn’t because of what Leone would say; they had had their fair share of kills
Chapter 271Chiara’s heart nearly flew out the window as she felt the cold metal in her mouth, but that was nothing compared to the cold gaze he was giving her right now. With the moment of silence that fell between them, all she could hear was the sound of her frantic heartbeats. His fingers remained on the trigger, and Chiara didn’t dare move. Definitely, this man was clearly insane, and it was quite unfortunate that she had run into him this night—or, more accurately to say, he had run into her.“Careful there, little girl.” His hand suddenly flew to her throat. She shivered as he ran his hand down her throat. Her head swayed even more, and she couldn’t comprehend what happened next as she suddenly blacked out.……Her eyes slowly fluttered open, the sweet scent of lavender infiltrating her nostrils. Where was she? It took some more minutes for everything to finally sink in, and now she was in her room in her hostel. How was that even possible?! Had this been a dream? She swallowed
Chapter 270Chiara’s eyes widened instantly upon his words. Her lips parted and closed multiple times, but no words came out. Her face was quick to turn pale even when she tried hard to maintain her composure. She knew if she gave out too much, then he would quickly add things up—but that was if he hadn’t found out already. She squeezed the fabric of her shirt. What did he mean by they had a lot to talk about? The dizziness returned tenfold, and she wished she could just faint and then wake up to everything simply being a dream, but she knew that could only happen in her imagination. Her heart rammed against her chest as he continued to stare at her. What did he mean by they had much to discuss? She was clearly not ready to discuss anything with this man, especially when she couldn’t use her damn legs. She should sue. That’s right—sue him and that damned doctor. But then she didn’t feel safe doing that. No, at this point she just wanted to return back to her hostel. She stared back at
Chapter 269How…??No!Her heart raced, and the urgency to flee hit her even harder, yet she knew she had to try hard to fight for calm. It would be even worse if she made him become suspicious and boosted his memory to remember her.His lazy eyes swept through her, wet strands of midnight black hair stuck to his forehead, his gaze blank, face unreadable. She couldn’t make out anything from it, and she was starting to feel like she would lose her mind any moment from now.She just wanted to get under the covers and hide, but that would be incredibly stupid. She should say something, anything.“I…” she found herself lost for words, her eyes darting between him and the slightly opened door, already imagining running past him and fleeing from here, but how far would she go?“Did you bring me here?” she said before realizing how stupid it was.“Were you expecting someone else?” he pushed his frame away from the wall which he had been leaning on, walking towards the bed.She held her breat
Chapter 268Despite the fact that the memories had been long buried, Chiara suddenly turned cold with fear just by thinking about it. After she was transferred to the Vicenzo empire to work as a maid, she had never once caught even a glimpse of him, not until one night when she suddenly saw him while cleaning the hallway. She could still remember how fast her heart had raced, like it was going to pop out of her chest. She hadn’t expected to see him again, and at that moment, she had badly wanted to disappear, to fully escape from him. It was then she had learned that he was actually close friends with Lord Leone, and she had thought she was as good as dead.Thankfully, she was able to steer clear away from his line of sight. That was until Anna appeared in her life and everything changed. When she had begun to live in the Vicenzo empire, not as a maid but as an honored guest, she knew she had to keep her emotions at bay and maintain her composure. They had crossed paths a few times, a
Chapter 267She froze as his soft, warm lips covered her completely, her eyes stretched wide, and she tried hard to push him away, but he held both her hands firmly in place. His soft, warm lips brushed against hers. She resisted him, her lips clamping shut, but she suddenly felt his hands at the sides of her breasts, and then he suddenly pinched her nipples through the light fabric of her dress.Chiara gasped loudly, giving him more access to her mouth, and before she could stop it, she felt his warm tongue in her mouth, fighting against hers, and it was a battle he easily won. He sucked and nibbled on her lips, her head swirled, her lips turned to jelly, and she was slowly turning breathless as he kissed her fiercely. Then… she felt herself slowly begin to melt into the kiss after several attempts to push him off.Her breasts now pressed against his hard chest, and she could feel her buds harden underneath the fabric. This wasn’t how things were supposed to go. Things had suddenly g
