“Where is she?” King demanded as her uncle opened the door.

The surprise on Dave’s face was apparent. Of course he had not given King the location, how did he find her.

“Hello Mr McGoritth.” Dave wasn’t sure of how to handle this at the moment.

”Where is Laura? I really do need to speak with her” king demanded again, out of breath.

It had been tough for him these past few days being away from her knowing she didn’t want anything to do with him again. Not like he couldn’t have found her at Lucia’s place in a blink, King was convinced she needed time to process a bit. But he could not give her that time any longer. He needed her.

Whether she liked it or not.

Still holding the door open, Dave began “I know I said I was going to talk to her and get her to hear you out. But now isn’t such a great time King. I doubt she wants to see you.”

“Too bad, I’m not leaving here without seeing her.” King shoved both hands into his track pants and started cracking his knuckles.

  • Entangled with a Baby   chapter 113

The rain continued to fall, a relentless curtain between the world and the secrets it tried to hide. Inside the abandoned warehouse, the aftermath of the confrontation hung heavy in the air. Karl's body lay still, a stark reminder of the violence that had just transpired. Chase was unconscious, his escape attempt thwarted.King knelt beside Anne, his face etched with concern. He gently stroked her hair, his touch reassuring. "It's okay, Anne. You're safe now."Anne shuddered, her eyes still wide with shock. "King... they... they wanted to hurt me. They said..." Her voice trailed off, unable to voice the horrors she had endured."I know, baby sister. I know," King murmured, pulling her closer. "But they can't hurt you anymore. I won't let them."Detective Marshal stepped forward, his expression grim. "We need to get her to the hospital, King. She's in shock, and we need to make sure she doesn't have any internal injuries."King nodded, his jaw tight. He carefully lifted Anne into his arms,

  • Entangled with a Baby   chapter 112

Why did the police officer bring a blanket to the crime scene? He wanted to keep the undercover operation under wraps! The abandoned warehouse loomed like a skeletal beast against the stormy sky. Rain lashed down, turning the muddy ground into a treacherous swamp. Inside, the air was thick with the stench of damp concrete and decay, a stark contrast to the sterile, brightly lit hospital room where Laura lay. King felt the familiar icy grip of fear clench around his heart. This time, it wasn't for himself. It was for Anne.He stood at the edge of the makeshift command center, a grim tableau of focused intensity. Detective Marshal, his face set in a hard line, barked orders into a walkie-talkie. Maps and blueprints were spread across a battered table, illuminated by the harsh glare of a single overhead lamp. The faces of the officers around him were grim, etched with the tension of the unfolding operation."They've moved her," Marshal said, his voice tight with frustration. "Karl and Ch

Why did the detective bring a ladder to the interrogation room? He wanted to get to the top of the case! The interrogation room was cold. Metal chairs, a steel table, and harsh lights. It was a place where secrets came to die. King sat across from Liam, Detective Marshal standing nearby, a silent observer. Liam's face was a mask of bitterness. He looked at King, and then at Marshal."So," Marshal began, his voice low and steady. "We're going to go over a few things again. Just to be clear."King watched Liam. He wanted to understand. He needed to know why. Why all of this had happened. Why Laura was lying in a hospital bed. Why their baby was gone. He felt a profound weariness, a bone-deep exhaustion that came from days of fear and grief and the gnawing uncertainty that had clung to him like a shroud. But beneath the weariness, a steely resolve remained. He would get the truth. He had to."Liam," King said, his voice hard, "tell us everything. From the beginning."Liam scoffed. "You w

  • Entangled with a Baby   chapter 110

Why did the man name his dogs 'Rolex' and 'Timex'? Because they were watchdogs! The hospital room felt like a place between worlds, a space where life and something else hung in the balance, and King stayed there, his heart heavy, his mind full of thoughts that crashed like waves against a shore. He sat by Laura's bed, the soft beeping of the machines a constant reminder of how fragile she was, how easily everything could be taken away, and he just held her hand, wishing, hoping, that she would feel his touch, that she would know he was there. He looked at her face, so still and quiet, and he remembered all the times she had been full of life, her eyes shining with laughter, her voice strong and sure, and now, all that was gone, hidden behind a wall of silence, a wall he did not know how to break down. He touched her hair, soft and smooth, and he remembered the way she would smile when he did that, the way her eyes would light up, and he closed his own eyes, trying to hold on to those

  • Entangled with a Baby   chapter 109

“Kingston, you’re scaring me,” Lana’s voice was soft, trembling. “You have to let them take care of you.”King had always known that the price of power was never paid in gold, he knew better than anyone that it was paid in blood. But never had he imagined that the price of being stinkingly rich and undeniably handsome would be paid with his wife’s blood and the life of their… unborn child. As he watched the nurse press a fresh bandage against his chest, his own blood seeping through the gauze, he felt what pain truly meant like never before. His mother stood beside him, her face pale, her hands gripping Oliver's so tightly he felt pity for the poor dude. She had panicked the moment she saw the red staining his shirt before he fainted, and for the first time in his life, King had nothing to say to calm her like he normally would brush her off.Because even if the doctors managed to stop his wound from bleeding, he wasn’t sure if his heart would ever stop bleeding. The hospital air was

  • Entangled with a Baby   chapter 108

The worst kind of men were the ones who believed they were untouchable.Marshal had seen plenty of arrogant, self-righteous bastards like that in his career who thought they could bypass the law, slip through the cracks, and walk away untouched. If there was anything Marshal hated most in the world, it was those kinds of people. And Liam was one of them.Dr Liam was the kind of man who thought money, connections, and a handsome smile made him invincible. But sitting there before Marshal, his hands cuffed to the iron table, with nothing but the cold walls of prison surrounding him, he didn’t look so untouchable anymore. The interrogation room smelled like sweat and burnt coffee. It had the kind of suffocating air that would make one want to gag. Overhead, a flickering white bulb buzzed like an annoying mosquito, casting weird darkness on Liam’s face. His fingers drummed against the metal table—fast, then slow, then fast again. He was restless, irritated. But mostly? Anxious. He would n

Kingston knew it.He always knew doctors' sighs never meant anything good. And when the doctor pulled down his mask, exhaled sharply, and rubbed the back of his neck before speaking, Kingston already knew what was coming. But he just didn’t want to believe it.“Laura was brought into the hospital in an endangered state,” the doctor started, his voice careful, like he was afraid one wrong word would send Kingston panicking. “Her high blood pressure and abnormal heartbeat led to forced contractions. The fibroids complicated things further, putting both her life and the baby’s at serious risk.”Kingston’s hands clenched into fists. His breathing was sharp, in uneven gasps.“We did everything we could,” the doctor continued, but at this point, Kingston wasn’t even hearing the words anymore. It was just noise to him. A static, cruel, meaningless sentence. “We were able to save the mother... but the baby didn’t make it. Laura is in a coma.”The bright hallway fell into silence but a ringing

  • Entangled with a Baby   chapter 106

Detective Marshal exhaled sharply as he ended the call. His fingers tightened around his phone, and his jaw clenched so hard it ached.Laura was in a coma. She wasn't just injured, not just recovering. But lying there, lifeless, hanging between this world and the next. And King? The man had barely held it together on the call when he told him they had also lost their baby. His voice had cracked, broken in a way Marshal had never heard before.Marshal tossed his phone onto his desk, rubbing a hand down his face. These criminals had to pay.Liam. Stacey. Stephanie. Every single one of them. He had been waiting for this very moment. The moment where all the evidence would be just enough to secure an arrest warrant. After months of following breadcrumbs, piecing together the puzzle, monitoring Dr. Liam's suspicious behavior, and tapping into the gossip of his nurses who had been all too happy to help when the money was involved, and now, it had finally led to this. With the right amount o

“Your boyfriend has made several attempts to murder my wife, that's what!” King replied to Maddie, his voice filled with anger.Maddie froze in disbelief. It didn't make any sense to her. Her mind tried to comprehend the words coming out of his mouth. She blinked rapidly, as though trying to force herself to see the truth in his eyes. But it still made no sense. None of it did.“No, no, that's impossible!” she cried out, her voice cracking. She shot a quick glance toward Liam, who stood there, his face expressionless, but his eyes—his eyes were cold. “Liam... you... you didn’t do this, right? You—you're not trying to kill Laura, right?” Her words came out in a frantic rush, sounding so desperate in a high-pitched voice.“You only have good intentions towards her... towards me, right?” It was as if she were trying to convince herself more than anyone else.Liam’s composure shattered in an instant. His lips curled back into a snarl, his eyes burning with a rage that seemed to come from
