AN UNSETTLING WANT
When Kai got home that night he was pissed, he had only left peacefully in order to not blow his cover.
"Tell me, was there something on my face because hell I know she was looking at me like she wanted me to claim her right there," he stared at his reflection and queried himself.
He got no response, not even from Ros, his wolf.
"Damn you! Say something at least!" He slammed his fist into the glass and blood dripped, it didn't take long, the wound seal leaving his flesh unbroken and unscathed with the shards of glass as the only proof of his rage.
He was panting harder, it wasn't just about Raven skipping him after giving every one of his friends a lap dance—it was more.
'We make her submit,' Ros purred in his head in a low growl, he was angry as well.
Kai makes his decision.
In a calculated rhythm, he headed for his window and took a jump, shifting mid air and ripping his clothes before he landed in the forest behind his manor. He ran all night because he couldn't stop thinking about Raven Star.
It wasn’t about desire anymore—it was more—his Alpha dominance was being challenged.
~~~~~~~~
At Moon Crescent academy the next day, Kai sat uninterested in traditional and history class while the teacher went on to pair students for a project.
He had not paid attention to any class all day nor did he bother to acknowledge the teacher by rising to his feet when his name was called.
He just stared blankly.
"Kai, you'd be working with Aria on this project." Mr Blackwood repeated with a cold voice ignoring Kai’s insolence yet he got no reaction from Kai but from Aria instead
"Me?" Aria gasped as her heart dropped to her stomach on hearing her name.
"Yes you my dear, you will be working with the young Alpha on the project." While replying to Aria, Mr Blackwood didn't take his eyes off Kai who held his gaze in a challenge.
The temperature in the room dropped by a few degrees as Kai clenched his fist.
"Class dismissed," He walked away.
Mr Blackwood decided Kai wasn't worth the stress since he was his student.
"Uhmmm..." Aria fidgeted where she stood, she wasn’t comfortable with being paired with the young Alpha but she didn't have a choice other than to wait for instructions from him since the deed had been done.
"What are you standing there looking at?" Kai snapped at her when she remained in the class waiting on him even after all the students had evacuated the room.
"The uhm...project...I was thinking we could—"
"We?" He scoffed as he rose to his feet and approached her, mazing through the desks.
She could feel the back of her shirt soak from cold sweat, her heart rate had quickened too.
"There's no we dummy," he snapped a finger in her face lifting a brow, his head at an angle.
For a second Aria was confused and her face betrayed her emotions.
"Get the entire project done all by yourself and put my name on it." He drove his point home—No smile, no frown, just a stoic expression and a cold voice.
He was never polite with her, he couldn’t be, he was of Alpha blood and she was just a lowly Omega.
Aria stood motionless even after Kai left to find his friends, she cursed her luck and tears glistened her eyes but her moment of sorrow was cut short by a beep on her phone.
"What!" Her eyes widened in shock—the good kind.
She hung her mouth open, her eyes filled with excitement as she read the text she had received. "At least something in my life is right." She smiles genuinely before packing her books and hurriedly leaving the class to head home
Meanwhile Kai met up with his friends at the parking lot.
"Here comes the future Alpha of the shadow fang pack," Jaxon dramatically illustrated a gorilla walk towards Kai as he approached them making the others laugh.
Jaxon was from Blue Rock pack—a future Alpha as well but he was the jester in their circle. He leaned against Kai and threw his hand over his shoulder when he got to him.
"What's up buddy? You look like someone threw fresh shit on your face." Jaxon asked when they closed in on the others.
"Ewww, get your hands off me." Kai brushed him off and walked straight to his own car.
The sleek black sedan Kai drove to school glistened under the sun's fading glow, its glossy body demanding attention from everyone that passed.
"New whip?" Ryan, one of the friends, asked.
"No, I got it a while ago and just decided to try it on the road today. He shrugged, his mood clearly still dampened, amongst the friends, Kai towered the most with a 6 '6 height and a glorious gym body giving him the body of the perfect leader.
"What's up with you today?"Adrian blocked the entrance and slammed closed the car door Kai had opened.
"I'm just tired and I want to go home—"
"Or..." Jaxon cut in and Kai rolled his eyes anticipating the worst.
"Or what loud mouth?..." Edwin asked
"Or he's still pissed that Raven ignored you at the club last night." Jaxon hit the nail on the head and the others remembered.
"No, no, don't go there. Did you see those thighs? Damn the dance felt good...oh she ignored him." Ryan teased Kai.
"I don't care, now move aside."
"Not so fast Alpha, oh you do care because her waist was so slender,"
"just the way he likes them huh? Am I wrong Kai?" Adrian and Edwin who had been laughing in the background decided to join in the fun."
Kai paused and leaned on his car, his slender legs and arms crossed at the mercy of his friends.
"Are you all done now?" The boys were laughing so hard and throwing comments at Kai, Jaxon didn't spare him.
"Do you select customers here?" Jaxon mimicked Kai making the others laugh more.
"Fuck you man..."
"Ewwww, tell that to Raven not me, show her who's the Alpha, grrr grrr" Jaxon dramatized and finally made Kai laugh a bit.
No matter how angry he wanted to remain, his friends had a way of pulling him out of it.
"But for real, do you think it was personal?" Ryan asked.
"Like she knew him?"
"Yeah...she's definitely not human, I could sense it."
"Me too..."
"Same here..." the boys agreed.
Werewolves could easily detect one another even with scent suppressants and Alpha wolves had higher sensitivities.
"Not possible...I think it's just a coincidence." Kai countered the thought and the rest agreed.
"Are we going to keep standing here till nightfall?" He dismissed them and they parted ways.
While he drove home, Ros, his wolf was restless while Kai was distracted with the thought that Raven might have known him and had ignored him intentionally.
AN UNDENIABLE ATTRACTION Aria was stunned, a part of her felt giddy, Kai had not been aggressive towards her, rather he had winked at her, whispered in her ear and even invited her over to his house.Aria left the class in a daze, her mind clouded with thoughts. "Come to the pack house later today so we start early." He had whispered it in her ear, his lip brushing her lobe making her stomach churn.She watched him get lost at a corner into his locker room. He had been staring at her all day, though it was a predatory look, her wolf enjoyed it.Her wolf was naturally attracted to how powerful Kai looked, his intimidating Alpha Aura, his handsome face and perfect gym body.She decided to walk to clear her head—breathing in his space for so long made her feel some kind of way."Hi, are you going home?" A car stopped in front of her outside the school's gate.She nodded her response. It was Ryan, he had felt bad for not giving her ride home the other day."Hop in, I'll give you a ride.
THE PERFECT PAIR"Fine. Aria and Kai." Aria frowned, she had tried to avoid him all day and he had to ask to be her partner on the project, she was already having to do the other project all by herself. She saw it as another opportunity for him to bully her.When the class was over, Aria gathered what little courage she didn't have to face Kai."Hi partner," he regarded her very casually. His grey eyes warm not the usual cold glint.She opened her mouth to speak but the words won't cooperate. He sat leaning in his seat in a blue dress shirt, the button slightly undone from the collar revealing a well dry cleaned inner white shirt. It fit on all the right areas and looked familiar to Aria, strong arms, broad shoulders and—"Aria," he called her name, her breath stopped, he knew her name.Of course he did, he just never used it to address her."Why?" That was all she could say as she dropped her eyes to
WHAT'S UP WITH HIM?At the club the music was loud and the lights were colorful, bodies moved on the dance floor, the smell of sweat and liquor mixing as humans let themselves lose under the influence of alcohol or adrenaline. "Another round for my table. Waiter be quick. Manager, are all your staff so slow?" An impatient man in a half drunken state complained but the manager simply smiled, he was perfect in customer service."I'll get you more active people right away." He made an excuse and left the lounge area.He shook his head as he walked away from the deafening music, he loved his job and overtime he had learned people management to a degree deserving extent.When he got to her door he paused and smiled. RAVEN The inscription on the door of the dressing room extended the smile that already curled his lips. A knock, two, he twisted the knob and let himself in.He stopped."What?" She asked when he didn't say anything, didn't move, just stared at her smiling. "You..." her ch
A SLOW OBSESSION The pack house was quiet when Kai got back.Everyone was at home but no one was in sight—it was like that everyday, everyone went to their business till dining times and he had returned after lunch time so any dramas would be during dinner."Alpha," someone greeted, bowed a bit to show his respect. The man was in his mid forties, dressed in a crisp black and white uniform—Green—the head butler.Kai sighed, Green had lived with them as long as Kai remembered taking his first breath, first step too, he was always there. "I ate already." Kai didn't return his greeting, he never did after his father passed, he kept his distance from the walls of the house itself, he felt betrayed, alone, not abandoned because everyone tried to reach out to him but he shut them all out.Green had served his father for years yet his father's food had been poisoned for years till his body was weak enough for them to strike him—Kai didn’t blame anyone, he blamed everyone."Noted," Green nod
DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DOAria had her feelings all over the place, Kai was always cruel to her but since the day began, his friend had been good to her but she couldn't trust anyone—not after everything she had been through. She didn't have any class after recess since Thursdays were half days for PHT—Physical health training. The afternoon sun was hotter than the morning's, the air still dry and abusive on her skin. From the corner of her eyes, she saw the familiar vehicle that had given her a ride to school but he didn't stop, he simply sped past her."Of course, what was I thinking?" She continued on her way to the stop to wait for a taxi, whatever happened earlier was past tense—nonexistent. Behind the wheel, Ryan gritted his teeth as hard as he held the steering wheel. He wanted to stop, drop her off so the sun didn't burn up her skin but he couldn't, the street was filled with students and she was just a low ranking wolf.
A NEW CONQUEST Somehow, he derived joy in his action. Aria had barely taken a bite when the cheeseburger was snatched from her hand. She had not had breakfast that morning and the cheeseburger was all she had carried.She was going to protest when she looked up but on seeing who had taken it, she let it slide—she couldn't fight him.Kai."I'll take this with me," Aria sighed.Instead of her anger, something else stirred within her, her nose picked his sweet smell, her Omega wolf recognizing his Alpha pheromones despite her suppressants.When she looked at him, she didn't see her bully, she saw a man she wanted to protect her, his broad shoulders and distance from his head to the ground, everything was perfect. She rose to her feet. "You want to stand up against me?" He looked amused but Aria knew better than to dare to challenge him.As a future Alpha, challenging him could bring upon her pack punishment or something worse so she didn't even dare it. She walked away. "Better," sh
