AN UNSETTLING WANT
When Kai got home that night he was pissed, he had only left peacefully in order to not blow his cover.
"Tell me, was there something on my face because hell I know she was looking at me like she wanted me to claim her right there," he stared at his reflection and queried himself.
He got no response, not even from Ros, his wolf.
"Damn you! Say something at least!" He slammed his fist into the glass and blood dripped, it didn't take long, the wound seal leaving his flesh unbroken and unscathed with the shards of glass as the only proof of his rage.
He was panting harder, it wasn't just about Raven skipping him after giving every one of his friends a lap dance—it was more.
'We make her submit,' Ros purred in his head in a low growl, he was angry as well.
Kai makes his decision.
In a calculated rhythm, he headed for his window and took a jump, shifting mid air and ripping his clothes before he landed in the forest behind his manor. He ran all night because he couldn't stop thinking about Raven Star.
It wasn’t about desire anymore—it was more—his Alpha dominance was being challenged.

At Moon Crescent academy the next day, Kai sat uninterested in traditional and history class while the teacher went on to pair students for a project.
He had not paid attention to any class all day nor did he bother to acknowledge the teacher by rising to his feet when his name was called.
He just stared blankly.
"Kai, you'd be working with Aria on this project." Mr Blackwood repeated with a cold voice ignoring Kai’s insolence yet he got no reaction from Kai but from Aria instead
"Me?" Aria gasped as her heart dropped to her stomach on hearing her name.
"Yes you my dear, you will be working with the young Alpha on the project." While replying to Aria, Mr Blackwood didn't take his eyes off Kai who held his gaze in a challenge.
The temperature in the room dropped by a few degrees as Kai clenched his fist.
"Class dismissed," He walked away.
Mr Blackwood decided Kai wasn't worth the stress since he was his student.
"Uhmmm..." Aria fidgeted where she stood, she wasn’t comfortable with being paired with the young Alpha but she didn't have a choice other than to wait for instructions from him since the deed had been done.
"What are you standing there looking at?" Kai snapped at her when she remained in the class waiting on him even after all the students had evacuated the room.
"The uhm...project...I was thinking we could—"
"We?" He scoffed as he rose to his feet and approached her, mazing through the desks.
She could feel the back of her shirt soak from cold sweat, her heart rate had quickened too.
"There's no we dummy," he snapped a finger in her face lifting a brow, his head at an angle.
For a second Aria was confused and her face betrayed her emotions.
"Get the entire project done all by yourself and put my name on it." He drove his point home—No smile, no frown, just a stoic expression and a cold voice.
He was never polite with her, he couldn’t be, he was of Alpha blood and she was just a lowly Omega.
Aria stood motionless even after Kai left to find his friends, she cursed her luck and tears glistened her eyes but her moment of sorrow was cut short by a beep on her phone.
"What!" Her eyes widened in shock—the good kind.
She hung her mouth open, her eyes filled with excitement as she read the text she had received. "At least something in my life is right." She smiles genuinely before packing her books and hurriedly leaving the class to head home
Meanwhile Kai met up with his friends at the parking lot.
"Here comes the future Alpha of the shadow fang pack," Jaxon dramatically illustrated a gorilla walk towards Kai as he approached them making the others laugh.
Jaxon was from Blue Rock pack—a future Alpha as well but he was the jester in their circle. He leaned against Kai and threw his hand over his shoulder when he got to him.
"What's up buddy? You look like someone threw fresh shit on your face." Jaxon asked when they closed in on the others.
"Ewww, get your hands off me." Kai brushed him off and walked straight to his own car.
The sleek black sedan Kai drove to school glistened under the sun's fading glow, its glossy body demanding attention from everyone that passed.
"New whip?" Ryan, one of the friends, asked.
"No, I got it a while ago and just decided to try it on the road today. He shrugged, his mood clearly still dampened, amongst the friends, Kai towered the most with a 6 '6 height and a glorious gym body giving him the body of the perfect leader.
"What's up with you today?"Adrian blocked the entrance and slammed closed the car door Kai had opened.
"I'm just tired and I want to go home—"
"Or..." Jaxon cut in and Kai rolled his eyes anticipating the worst.
"Or what loud mouth?..." Edwin asked
"Or he's still pissed that Raven ignored you at the club last night." Jaxon hit the nail on the head and the others remembered.
"No, no, don't go there. Did you see those thighs? Damn the dance felt good...oh she ignored him." Ryan teased Kai.
"I don't care, now move aside."
"Not so fast Alpha, oh you do care because her waist was so slender,"
"just the way he likes them huh? Am I wrong Kai?" Adrian and Edwin who had been laughing in the background decided to join in the fun."
Kai paused and leaned on his car, his slender legs and arms crossed at the mercy of his friends.
"Are you all done now?" The boys were laughing so hard and throwing comments at Kai, Jaxon didn't spare him.
"Do you select customers here?" Jaxon mimicked Kai making the others laugh more.
"Fuck you man..."
"Ewwww, tell that to Raven not me, show her who's the Alpha, grrr grrr" Jaxon dramatized and finally made Kai laugh a bit.
No matter how angry he wanted to remain, his friends had a way of pulling him out of it.
"But for real, do you think it was personal?" Ryan asked.
"Like she knew him?"
"Yeah...she's definitely not human, I could sense it."
"Me too..."
"Same here..." the boys agreed.
Werewolves could easily detect one another even with scent suppressants and Alpha wolves had higher sensitivities.
"Not possible...I think it's just a coincidence." Kai countered the thought and the rest agreed.
"Are we going to keep standing here till nightfall?" He dismissed them and they parted ways.
While he drove home, Ros, his wolf was restless while Kai was distracted with the thought that Raven might have known him and had ignored him intentionally.
TRIALS The sun shone cross the treetops, gilding the banners that rose with the wind. Crimson, silver, midnight blue, White——the colors of every major pack, all whipped above the massive trial grounds, each one vying for dominance in the sky. The witches, vampires and Lycans were also in attendance. It was the common ground after allThe horns had sounded across the territories, signaling the official declaration of the Alpha kings trial.Below the high towers of the Council Hall, the crowd swelled like a living tide. High ranked wolves and commoners, Warriors and emissaries, spies and sages…everyone from all pack was welcome. The scent of a dozen territories mingled in the air: pine and iron, lavender and musk, the dry tang of desert wolves and the red wolves.Tension vibrated between them. No growls, no weapons drawn, not yet. But every Alpha and Beta present knew that today’s event could upend the entire structure of power across the lands. This was not an ordinary meeting, thi
BLOOD PROOF“You don’t have to do this,” Lyra said quietly, even as the look in her eyes said otherwise. The Elders watching from behind her certainly didn’t believe that either. Half of them were staring like Aria had already transformed into something monstrous.“I have to…” Aria pressed. The ritual chamber had practically fallen apart. Yet for some reason, it still stood tall. Beneath Aria’s boots runes glowed faintly on the walls, casting eerie reflections over the circle where she stood. It was colder than she expected. All this did little to calm her nerves.Elder Lyra stood before Aria, expression unreadable. In one hand, she held a thin silver blade, in the other, a shallow bowl.Aria flexed her fingers once, then stepped forward. “Let’s get it over with.”Lyra didn’t blink. It wasn't her place to show mercy within these walls. She simply extended the blade.‘Maybe if I do this fast enough, it won't hurt as much.’ Aria mused. Preparing for the world of pain she was about to e
MISSING Kai stood on the elevated ground, the teachers gathered around. His presence was domineering and intimidating. "Nothing could have prepared us for this," Ryan sighed, coming up beside Kai.All the students were assembled as well. The ones that were not injured or already healed. They were waiting to be called, so that they could indicate that they were present. His aura made it easy to guess that he was an Alpha.Principal Rawlings, some elders and other members of the pack stood beside him, their faces heavy and filled with exhaustion, their Knees weak and feet tired.Kai began to call out the names with his loud, authoritative voice and each teacher answered present. He called out “Maren” but there was silence. He looked around, waited a few seconds, then called the name again.“Maren” his voice was louder this time. But no one answered or came forward. The teachers began to murmur. They looked around, but there was no sign of her around.“Who has seen Maren today?” he as
MissingThe moon sat low, yellow and bright in the sky, watching and judging like it was taking note of everyone and every deed. Like a god sitting in the sky. It’s silver light casted long shadows upon the earth, but the area was bright and clear, but dark enough to know it was late.Smoke filled the air making it hard to see. The atmosphere was foggy and it was difficult to breathe. There was an air of chaos. You could tell that something was not right. The trees were still, the fog rising, the silence was loud but the noise was so subtle.Burn marks and fire still remained on some branches and leaves. The attack had just ended, but the evidence lingered like the perfume on the clothes in the laundry basket. The students moved slowly in an orderly manner as they were escorted back to their dormitories all silent and defeated. The healer went around checking on the those that were wounded. Some were cleaning wounds, some were applying bandages and giving potions to some patients.
THE CALLAria sat with her knees pulled up, her bare feet buried in the cool sand, half a sandwich in her hand, the other holding a drink Kai had carried from the pack kitchen."This tastes good," she took a monstrous bite letting herself free a bit.Laid out between them on a thick flannel blanket was enough food to feed five people, maybe more. A wooden board held thick-cut grilled steaks, still warm, juices pooling beside them.Aria and Kai had worked hard to ser it up themselves but in the end he had given up and asked for help from the staff and plates too.Next to the array, foil-wrapped baked potatoes were split open and topped with melting butter, herbs, and a generous dusting of salt. There was a container of roasted vegetables — peppers, onions, zucchini — all caramelized at the edges, smoky and sweet.A bowl of spiced rice sat beside two wrapped meat pies, their crusts golden and flaky. Closer to Aria was a plate of marinated chicken skewers, grilled with onions and bell pe
BUILDING CLOSURE They found a comfortable place ad pitched their tent. K had been more than prepared for the trip and he had carried along supplies and other things to make their stay memorable. The water pushed a bit over the shore covering part of the sand in a light tidal wave then back to the bed line."You really did put a lot of thought into this didn’t you?" Aria found herself smiling shyly as she stood on the sideand watched him do everything handed him things from the duffel bag from time to time."I did," Kai sighed and dusted the sand on his palms off on his shorts. He rose to his full height and stared for a little bit admiring his hard work.He often got someone to pin the tent and fully set it up but he had decided that he wanted every second private and special so he had watched videos most of the night when he returned home."Tell me," Aria walked a bit closer borrowing confidence from Raven for a little bit."What?" He let her close the distance between them as he s
